For my husbands 50th birthday I decided to try Creative Cakes. I was hoping theyd live up to their name because when it comes to creativity, I have none. Unfortunately--they did not. Sigh. When I called, I told the man on the phone Id like the smallest cake they have for our small party, with happy bday to my husband and a big 50 on it and that I wanted it decorated festive somehow, that Im not picky, and what did he, the expert, recommend? Surely they have decorated cakes for 50th birthday parties before. Well, he was very put out that I had no ideas in my head. He seemed utterly lost and annoyed. He finally ended up suggesting a Christmas theme, which I happily went with, since he came up with SOMEthing. Well I went to pick up my cake a week later and it wasnt very festive looking and what it did look like though was a Christmas cake for a 4 yr old, notwithstanding the big Happy 50th Birthday on it. There were cute little gingerbread men and snowmen (actually, one each) on it, etc. Which again, would be cute for a 4 yr old. I let the woman know when I was picking it up it looked a little er....young for my husband. (and did I mention not very festive? kind of blah looking) Well the woman did not give a rip. She made zero offerings to me whatsoever to make it more into a cake that I would like to give to my husband for his 50th birthday celebration. What customer service! Taking the hint and feeling completely exasperated, I finally just said OK, Ill go ahead and just pay. Of course, they had already charged my credit card! Unreal. And it wasnt even a layered cake, just a big slab of plain old chocolate cake with some frosting on it, and of course, the (couple of) Christmas decorations for a 4 yr old. And it wasnt even that good, honestly. Giant offers a thicker and more tastier layer of frosting. And oh yea, you shouldve seen the price. Which Im more than happy to pay for for a delicious Giffords cake. I certainly will not be going back to this place. And you, are hereby warned!

We ordered a red velvet cake from Creative Cakes for my fiancées birthday. We have had cakes from there in the past, and they were excellent, so we were looking forward to this one. Although the icing was very good, the cake itself was dry and tasteless. The five people sharing the cake all agreed that an ingredient must have accidentally been left out of the recipe or that something went wrong when the cake was baked. When we told Creative Cakes about this, we were shocked by the response we received. My fiancée initially spoke with them over the phone. She was told that red velvet cake is not supposed to be a chocolate cake (which we already knew) and that they were sorry if we didnt hear what we wanted to hear. We decided to take the cake back to the shop, and when the Creative Cakes staff tasted it, they reported that it tasted as it should. They suggested that the problem was either that we had waited too long to eat it (in fact, we picked it up the day before) or that we served it too cold (in fact, it was served at room temperature). Rather than accept that her cake was a disappointment, the woman we met tried to blame us, her customers, for failing to appreciate the product. Only when I suggested that we would not consider Creative Cakes for our wedding cake did her tone change slightly. At that point, she became a bit more open to rectifying things, although she did not propose any particular way to do that. The entire process has made us decide to avoid using Creative Cakes for any events in the future. It is clear that they are interested only in customers who are going to be spending a lot. Even in those cases, I doubt that their service or product is worth the money or trouble. For our wedding, we do not want a dry, bland cake like the one we received for my fiancées birthday, and we do not want to work with a vendor like Creative Cakes whose customer relations are as poor as what we experienced today.

I was looking for a specialty cake for a baby shower that I was planning and as for me we never made it past the initial phone conversation. First of all, I was quoted $500 right off the bat without even knowing what I wanted. Then as we got further into the conversation I advised that the attendance for the party was to be around 75 to 80 people. I was told that the $500 cake would only serve 30 people. "WHAT"?? I told her that I had gotten a few quotes for the exact same cake and that they said that would feed around 70 to 75 people. She said to me and I quote "well why are you calling us" sounds like you want a lot for a little bit of money"!!!!! What kind of Customer Service is that? Needless to say that was the end of my dealings with this company! With that type of phone attitude you will lose a number of "would be customers"!! I politely told her "no thanks I will take my business somewhere else" then I suggested an attitude adjustment or a Customer Service Skills training class!!!

I didnt like it. I was a first time customer but I wont be patronizing this place in the future. For me, the service was certainly less than friendly. I had questions, but I was mostly met with curt responses and a "just pay and get out of here" type of affect and attitude. Again, a first timer, I asked for a sample of the cake and guess what? Mind you, I had just watched the previous customer be offered a sample cupcake, but ok, Im not in the club. While the money is relative, after all, I wasnt getting married or spending thousands of dollars on cake, it wouldve been nice to be treated better by the owners/employees. After I purchased the cake, no receipt, no pick-up slip...nothing, but worst of all, no words. It was bizarre and I was uncomfortable. I wont be going back and I will not recommend to friends, or others with dignity. Such a shame, the cake was actually good, but for the next time, Ill try one of the other two local bakeries who offer the fondant icing.

Its over, Folks. Something is drastically different from the Creative Cakes of years past. In 2012 they did a fabulous cake for my daughters graduation. Now, for her birthday, I cannot believe I paid $125 for what could have been a factory-made $10 creation from Giant. The cake decoration was gorgeous! No complaint about their artists! But I paid extra for a special recipe double chocolate cake, which had very little flavor and was rather dry. I wonder if the cakes are pre-baked and frozen until needed. The buttercream icing tasted like Crisco with sugar and had a strange chemical aftertaste. I was going to take the remainder of the cake back so they could taste it, but then I read another reviewer did that already, and the CC staff the cake was fine and was supposed to taste like that. Well, none of our 18 guests thought the cake was any good. Never again. I hope the boss takes a look at what is going on in their kitchen.
