Went at 12:30 on a Thursday in June. Pit beef sandwich was good: medium-rare thin-sliced beef, thin-sliced onions, ample horseradish, mayo. I didnt get an option on the meat temperature so fortunately thats how I wanted it. Fries were only slightly above room temperature and mostly hard, as if they were made far in advance. Soup was gross. Service was very slow and rude to the person in front of me when she asked a question about ordering. I watched old wings heated up in a microwave for several customers. When my order came up I had to navigate the order line to reach over the counter for it. The other person with me was presented his order without his drink. Restaurant looked dingy and not very clean, although food prep staff did wear gloves. All the windows were open, so we got the refreshing exhaust from Route 1 and very loud traffic noise. I wont go back. Id go to Pioneer Pit Beef on Rolling Road or Canopy on Route 40 in Ellicott City first.

I ordered the pit beef sandwich, fries and sweet tea special for $10.50. The beef was tender and moist and the bbq sauce had a great balance of sweet and tangy. The fries are fresh cut boardwalk style and every table has vinegar and ketchup. I also ordered a side of cole slaw, which was super fresh and made of red cabbage. Service was great and the ladies at the front counter greeted me with a smile. Even though there was a bit of a lunch rush, my wait for 2 specials was less than 5 minutes. I spotted this gem as I was making my way down Rt 1 South. Definitely happy I took a chance and stopped in. It was totally worth it.

I live right around the corner and could not be happier that this place has opened up. Im used to driving a long ways for BBQ or pit beef. No longer. This place is owned by a local who used to cater events in the area and I had heard rave reviews of the catering. The restaurant does not fail the reviews. Super friendly employees, clean attractive dining room, outdoor seating, super tender pit beef, smokey chicken, fall off the bone ribs as well as good sides. I cant say enough about this place. Check it out.

My son and I decided to try this place for dinner. At their recommendation, we both had the rack of ribs and they were amazingly good. For sides we tried coleslaw (good), pork & beans (very good), fries (very good), and green beans (bland). We also tried some bay wings which were full sized wings and delicious. As a bonus, for eating in, you get free soup and it is AMAZINGLY good. They say its made from the previous days meat drippings. The wait staff is very friendly and the prices are very reasonable.

Eh is the only way to describe it. Not really pit beef, its wet roast beef. No choice of how its cooked. All food is in steam trays. I couldnt smell or see an actual smoker. It appears the food here is oven cooked. Perhaps there is a smoker outbid wet, but it doesnt taste smoked. Prices are a little steep for that you get. Got about 3/4 an inch of meat on a massive roll. Nothing to write home back. Sides were fair. Air conditioning doesnt work all that well.

The food is great. They claim not to close until 8 however, 2 different times they have had the signs on that said open and waited until I took my son out of the car to lean out and tell me they are closed. I was just going in to get takeout and they still had a good 10 minutes before they closed. When we do go in the owner is not very personable. This is not the way to have repeat customers.

The restaurant is small and cozy. Decor is very warm and accommodating and inviting. Staff is very friendly and nice. Food is very good and tasty. BYOB. You simply can not go wrong with the Bonfire. And in my opinion, it is the only restaurant, Pit Beef place in the area unlike any other pit beef place. If you do not give this place a try, you suck at eating good food!

Avoid the 2 for 1 specials to dodge the cheap steam table held items and get something fresh sliced or prepared. There is an obvious focus on the catering part of this operation. Most things are heavily salted that we had including the sides. Come for the odd assortment of family pictures and stay for a family argument among staff behind the counter.

Fries are pretty good . I love the pit beef sandwich. Old Bay Chicken wings are good (full size wings) . First went in there after smelling and seeing the smoke when the grill was by the road,is by the building now. The brb-q sauce pretty good . No mumbo sauce though, never even heard of when I asked. smoker back by road now

This place is not very well known but definitely should be! The brisket is great and the prices are even better. You can get fries, brisket sandwich, soup and a drink for ten dollars. The staff are quick, friendly and in my opinion interesting. Seating is lacking but they are adding a new addition so we will se what happens.

The Pit beef Gods have smiled upon Halethorpe!!!!! Hands down the best pit beef, ham turkey etc to be found, right here in beautiful Halethorpe. Love patronizing little locally owned restaurants, especially when the food and the service is this great. Heres to Pete and his staff for a great place!!!

Very good bbq! Definitely a locals spot. Employees can be a bit gruff but it isnt a big deal. The food is definitely the highlight. Meat had good flavor and they make the sauce in house. Their sides are also very good, especially their coleslaw (made with red cabbage) and potato salad.

This is a gem of a BBQ joint. We got the boneless rib and pit ham sandwiches, along with a bowl of Maryland crab soup, and everything was delicious. The decor is comfy and very clean, and the staff is very friendly. I would definitely come back

Great Food and a friendly staff! Definitely better BBQ than any of the chain restaraunts without a doubt. The restaraunt is clean and well kept although it can get cramped at peak hours. Did I mention they have fresh cut fries!

The food was delicious, bread could have been fresh seem to have been in open air sitting. As for the meats awesome flavor. Service was on the slow side also conflict of workers arguing who was to do what was the delay..

I had a pulled pork sandwich and it was delicious. Fries were made when I ordered. Service was fast. This place is much better than the franchise Mission BBQ, unfortunately is not close to you my home.
