Unfortunately my husband and I were unable to experience what the other reviewers experienced. We were vacationing in Williamsburg for his birthday and we wanted some good ribs that we heard were in the area. We found this place on Google and decided to try this one because the other restaurant was closed. When we arrived we noticed immediately that the staff (2 Caucasian female greeters) was not very friendly with us, however they were very friendly to the elderly (Caucasian) couple that was right in front of us and they were greeted professionally. When she came back for my husband & me, we were not greeted and the tone of her voice along with her facial expression changed tremendously! As we sat down, we looked at each other because we both felt the disrespectful and unfriendly vibe. It didn’t just stop with her, the waiter (appeared to be of Russian) seemed a bit uneasy/uncomfortable with us. Then it ended when we agreed to walk out because we were uncomfortable and no one bothered to see why; not even the female (one of the Caucasian greeters) host that was at the door. They acted as if it was ok to treat us like that and that it was ok for us to get up and walk out before the waiter came back with our drinks. My husband and I noticed that we were the only African American customers in the restaurant at that time and felt that was the reason we were treated so badly. It was very ironic that the entry was enlightened with African American music icons that we felt were welcoming; however they did not make us feel very welcome. This is the absolute WORSE experience we have experienced in all of Williamsburg, VA. We are not the type of people that make the color of skin an issue because we have close friends of all races, and this whole experience was very obvious. This place needs to recheck the definition of customer service and get a whole new staff because this was just horrible! An absolute disgrace the Williamsburg area! If they cannot treat customers fairly they are in the wrong profession and the wrong place! We pray no one else has to experience what we did.

The hotel staff at the Hilton Garden Inn - Williamsburg recommended this restaurant to us when we checked in there. The restaurant offers a 10% discount to hotel guests. I called from our room to place an order and spoke with two very pleasant women - one who transferred me to the woman who took my order. We placed our order: full rack of "wet" ribs, chocolate cake, peanut butter pie and banana pudding. We were told that the order would be ready in about 10 minutes so we left shortly thereafter to walk over. The woman who had taken my telephone order (she seemed to have a Caribbean accent) greeted us and was MORE than pleasant. We got there before the food was supposed to be ready and didnt mind the little wait one bit, but she evidently felt that we had been waiting too long and gave us complimentary lemonades, which we thought was very kind of her. The ribs were good; we do not care for baked beans which came with them so I cant speak to those - unfortunately, neither of us tasted them. The coleslaw was good, though perhaps a bit too mayonnaise-laden for me. My husband had the chocolate cake, which he decided was "too moist and dense" - I expect it would have been perfect for a PMS-ing woman (Im weird and dont like chocolate so I didnt try it, but it did look pretty!) He also had the peanut butter pie (he couldnt decided which dessert he wanted - lol) and said that it was quite good. I had the banana pudding, which was BY FAR, the best thing I have eaten this week. It was homemade with bananas and Nilla wafers and the portion they gave me was enough to have some the next day. If I lived closer to Virginia, Id go there frequently and have to buy bigger pants. Delicious!

Worst restaurant experience EVER! If you like AUTHENTIC "memphis" barbecue, dont eat here. Our waitress, Veronica, was arrogant. She took forever to bring our drinks, and was rude when we asked about ingredients. It took our food 20+ minutes to get to the table after she finally took our order 15 minutes later. When it got there, she gave us BOTH the wrong food. We sent it back, and I still didnt get the proper food but the person I was with did. If you order a Carolina Style sandwich, which is on their menu, they wont give you what you order. They just give you dried out meat that tastes like bland, shredded cat food, a Vlassic pickle from a jar [and it was dry] and some boiled potatoes with egg chunks that they attempt to claim is potato salad. The ribs are the toughest thing you will ever bite into, and theyre not very good. The beans arent made in house- theyre Bushs baked beans. Again, another item out of a can. When we asked to speak to a manager, she was rude and consistently lectured me, telling me that I do not know what I am talking about and that I apparently have never tasted good barbecue before. We were forced to pay for food we didnt even eat 5 bites of because it was so disgusting, and the manager treated us like absolute garbage. Our waitress was rude from the beginning, and they all were hostile to us after asking to speak to the manager. NEVER will I EVER eat here again- Ill be going across the street to Food for Thought!

Horrible! 7PM and the place was empty.... now i know why. The pulled pork bbq was EXTREMELY dry and on a half stale, room temperature bun. The potato salad was WARM, the ranch dipping sauce for the wings was WARM. Management might want to check the food safety temps in the kitchen! The ice tea was beyond sour, obviously left at room temperature ALL day. We had to send it back for a soda. The "Brunswick" stew was anything but that and tasted like hot dog chili. It was inedible. The bacon cheese fries consisted of soggy fries , loaded with cheese and half raw bacon. All in all, our family of four was EXTREMELY disappointed. Since there was no visible manager on duty, we had no one to complain to but our poor server, who could only say Im sorry, not given the power to correct anything. WE WILL NEVER RETURN! How has this place has been open so long????

Hungry after a long day playing tourist and wanting to try something new, we stopped in for dinner. The service was less than satisfactory but perhaps our waitress had a long day and was ready to call it a night. The meal was less than interesting. We both got the pulled pork. It was bland, with a bun that appeared to have come from the cheap and small bun aisle in the supermarket. The sauces on the table were unfortunate. The hot was extremely hot, unpleasantly so, to the point I had to eat some of the overly mayonnaised cole slaw to take the sting down...it was heat for heats sake and not flavorful. The mild sauce was like sweet ketchup. The sweet sauce was very very sweet. And the vinegar sauce was awful. The fries were steak fries...not my favorite. All-in-all, a boring, mostly tasteless (except for unpleasant tastes) meal.
