Nestled next to the expressway on Monroe Ave. you will find the Char Broil Family Restaurant. This restaurant recently underwent a major renovation to expand with its ever growing cliental. I find the interior of the restaurant to be a plain as ever, like starring at an empty white space. When I am hung-over in the morning, the brightness of the white walls really wakes me up. Service is always fast, but the food is a complete disaster. The quality is extremely low for the OUTRAGEOUS pricing points they have for breakfast. If you dont know, youre getting ripped off, as there are far better diners with lower prices around the corner. Prices here are about an average 8 bucks for breakfast, a little high for diner breakfast food in the Rochester area. When you eat here, you feel like you are in a lunch room cafeteria, and food wise is not too far off from that. No flavor to the cooking, just a whole lot of grease that saturates your plate with each and every bite. However, I am miffed at how busy this place gets, but I think its just for convenience. The breakfast is something you may want to take in a to-go box, and deliver to the nearest open-door mission. BreakFast Special- This is a real gross special, and I have tried it many times. The eggs are some of the worst I have tasted in the Rochester area, badly beaten up egg whites. My eggs that are supposed to be over-easy always looks like Freddy Cougar slashed it a thousand times, its so sloppy. Sometimes half the yolk is already oozing out. The Corned Beef is NOT FRESH, that totally came out of a can, and the salt/sodium content will have an overwhelming taste on your pallet. The Home-Fries are always brunt, and crunchy; most of the time they taste like dishwater. The toast on the side is the WORST, as they NEVER butter it. I mean I seriously have to ask for buttered toast each and every-time. French Toast- There was no real difference between this piece of toast, and the regular one I would have gotten on the side. This toast was dry, and does not have enough egg batter to keep it moist. Its always so dry; seriously, I go into a morning coughing fit over it. You get stuffed on this plain piece of French toast, and you payed 9 bucks for it, yeah no. Overall: OVER-PRICED Poor Quality Breakfast, Fake Corned Beef, Dry Pieces of French Toast, Plain Interior, and SLASHED Eggs...I Will NOT Be Back.

This has been the main stay dinner in this part of town for decades. Its clean, reasonably priced, family owned and operated for two or three generations. The food is good and the staff, for the most part is well trained. Be prepared for a short wait most of the time as this place is always busy. Sunday morning or Friday night expect to wait 10 for a table or 30 minutes for a booth.

Always cheery & friendly. Often see regulars & chat, even if dont know them! Food always good, especially soups. Home-made red sauce great, available in quarts for take-home. Never rushed, allow you to sit as long as you like... pick up City newspaper @ front entry & read-&-eat! A wonderful neighborhood restaurant, for singles, couples, friends & families, all ages. Relaxing!

Ive been here three times. The first time was okay but not great. The second time was pretty good, and the third time was a big disappointment. The food is usually okay, the potatoes are a little bland, but everything else is the usual breakfast fare, which is pretty easy to do, but the last time was with five people, and not one person got food that was hot.

Charbroil has some positives and negatives. The prices are amazingly good and the servers do a pretty good job of being attentive. On the negative side they didnt have a host sitting guests and if you go there on a Saturday or Sunday the wait can be really bad, especially considering they dont have any good places to sit or stand while you wait.

Great food! Service not soo much unless you have a friendly person staff member. waitress was on key until you have a question about the bill. Cashier no smile on face and didnt ask if we enjoyed our time. It is sad how last person you see leaving a place can leave a lasting impression.

My waitress was friendly but distracted with her other patrons and got my order wrong. She commented that to correct it would take "a really long time" and since the rest of my party had already received their food and opted against making the change. Stay away from the veggie burger.

I dont know anywhere in Rochester you can get Corned Beef Hash made from scratch!! Canned salty sludge. Yuck. And nobody poaches eggs like the Charbroil. Nobody!! Perfectly cooked. Why am I telling you?? Youll just come here and make the wait longer. Never mind.

Its like asking Mom to make you lunch. You can get pretty much anything. And its quick too. I really enjoy it here for lunch. It can be a little crowded right at noon, but even then you wont wait more than 5 minutes for a table.

I love this restaurant. Well-prepared, fresh food, with best salad bar that is constantly maintained. Wait staff are long tenured, happy and efficient, a good indicator that the place is well run. Check it out!
