After all the hype we went to this restaurant in Maryland yesterday for lunch buffet. Heres my review: I got to eat biryani without meat! Mutton curry -no mutton, only the gravy Chicken 65 and other appetizers, I could just read the display as the containers were empty and not refilled. It was a mad mad rush and felt like as if they were distributing food for free. It took 10 full minutes standing in the line with my plate just to put some food on my plate. Well, never mind I just got the left overs -even after spending 1hour in the restaurant. The manager/owner was standing on the other side with folded arms and just watching. He knows there were empty serving containers in the buffet. I muttered courage to go for the second serving, by the time I could get to what I wanted, the items were all over, again and this time I got chicken biryani with one piece of chicken. Lucky me. Dont even talk about the desserts, they were all gone. When asked, one of the waiters / managers told me there is curd / yogurt rice! On the positive side, whatever food I had was good, but nothing extraordinary. Do yourself a favor, just go to a place where you can actually sit down and feel like you had a meal! To the restaurant management: please refill the food when they are half way. Dont wait till they get empty. Also, try having two separate buffet stations. To sum it up: My experience was a total disappointment.

My Perspective
It was not at all a good experience here, during my visit on April 10th for dinner. I usually try to avoid writing bad reviews, this time, I decided to write because the service we received was not even comparable to the quality of service you receive in a small (standing) eateries in (Bangalore) India. 1. our food was delayed and we received cold dosa and no sambar. 2. Looked like Chutney was already stale 3. When we were almost done with the Dosa w/o any accompaniments (Chutney / Sambar) we got Sambar. 4. Sambar was completely diluted no (salt / spice) taste. It was bland. The person who claimed to be a restaurant Manager was irresponsible when we raised it to him. I told him that youll definitely receive a bad review for your service, he sounded very negligent and he was not even apologetic. Overall, we had a worst experience and I would never go there or recommend this place to my friends. This place is just a HYPE. Finally, a big thanks to the waiter, who forgot to place my To Go order, which I did initially. There used to be a place called Madurai Masala (Near Lake forest mall), I thought, that was the worst place I ever visited, this is even worse than that. I really feel bad that I cant submit my review without even giving them any stars, however this place deserves negative stars. Please consider this to be my -ve 5 * review.

Very disappointed despite visiting 3 times for this hideous place and got sick eating their food once.. 1.Beware of to-go orders: They have a habit of re-frying buffet left-overs... a.1st time: Instead of Chicken 65 we were given chilli chicken that was re-fried in nasty vegetable oil. b.2nd time: Instead of chicken 555 we were given chicken Manchurian that tasted sweet. c.Briyani: Mutton briyani is OK but other briyani were mediocre. d.Fried rice: Terrible. They make omelet then slice it in fried rice and dont realize that some people cant stand fiithy egg smell with rice. Why cant they ask customer if they want egg or not. 2.Beware of suggestion: They have a habit of suggesting an item contrary to what you originally went their for. Potential buffet left over marketing. Pick what you real like and see if you can enjoy and provide a good review. 3.1 star:For the college kids who has a great attitude as waiters. 4.Nasty restroom Advice for this business would be maintain class about food when your pricing is off the limit. Truth to be told restaurants need to be owned and maintained by people who know the business. Definitely not by people who work in IT field because their mentality strikes in no time. Disgusting place!!! Wont like to taste their food again.

In Maryland, one thing that I have missed is a good South Indian Restaurant. I have been to several so called Indian restaurants in Maryland & Virginia in the past. Non Veg food was good among a few, but not for Vegetarian or South Indian food. This restaurant “Godavari Maryland” is one place which deserves credit for making “Truly South Indian”, and “Best Vegetarian” food. They do have good Non-Veg entries which I tried but “Truly South Indian” and “Best Vegetarian” made me give them 4 stars rating. Spice level was the perfect for me and was perfect for my kids too. Some of Authentic south Indian food like Vada dipped in Sambar; Mini Idly was done to its perfection which I haven’t had it anywhere except in India (HSB). My kids loved it and were done with those items in 10 mins. I am bumping up my review to a 5 Star, especially because - Idly was very fresh and soft, which I am sure is not easy to get even at home unless its made and served the right way.

When I go to an Indian buffet , I look for the basics for a start, it must have Pappadam, pickle, raita, raw onion and green chillies (missing here) and a thumbs up if there is Masala chai!! And a lot of Indians eating there which is a good sign that I would like the food. Some of the items could have been better but very good buffet for the price. Except for one staff, who was very pleasant and helpful, all the others could have been pleasant. But we will be back! Ok I had big expectations from last time. when I took my husband there on the 2nd time for his birthday. I am sorry to say Im changing my rating from 4 to a 2. Because, no Pappadam, no idly, bad sambar, very greecy Veg curries, bland biriyani, tasteless chicken curry, and even the white rice was not good. The dessert cake was horrible. The only item that was very good was one beans thoran and chai. Very sorry to say we will not be back. Having spent 40 bucks left unsatisfied.

We have been there so many times. One thing I love the most about this place is their Catering service - so far the best in the city of Gaithersburg. Initially when it was started, there were long waiting times for the weekend buffet and most of the food items werent available around 1 30 PM. We started going a little early around noon and that seemed to work - we got to taste everything. But, I should tell you as time progressed they have done an amazing job managing all the above. The weekend buffet is outstanding now. They have so many varieties and options available and I am sure you will love them. I loved their all day buffet idea until 1 AM on the new year. Above all, their service was always welcoming and friendly.

I gave this restaurant three chances. And each time something was off. I went the first weekend they opened and the staff was not trained that well and we ended up with food that was way too spicy. (They still dont ask the question of spice level.) The second time the food was delayed and we had to wait to get water refills and even the check. Over the two times the food was ok. The third time, 2 of the dishes we ordered had too much salt and the dishes took an average of 30-40 minutes each to be remade. I had to take one to go. I really hope this place gets better for here sake. I however will not be coming again and will not be recommending this restaurant. There are far better restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
