I, like most Americans outside of the "Beltway Bubble," am not an Indian food connoisseur. Im not a "foodie" or any other pretentious sub-category of folks who wish to project an heir of superiority over their less-cultured fellow citizens. I just like good food. Period. At Mirch Masala, I have found very good food. The butter chicken is excellent, the chicken tikka has a perfect amount of spice and flavor, the spiced chick peas are a great complement to any dish, and the naan is top-notch. Oh, and dont forget to try the samosa chaat (a sort of potato/pea/spice-filled fried pocket accompanied with spiced chick peas and truly excellent sweet/tangy chutney). The mango lassi also tastes amazing and is very fresh [note: dont let the "mustard yellow" appearance scare you away]. Portions are extremely generous and the price cannot be beat in this area; roughly $7 for a heaping portion of rice, meat, and vegetables. Now, I can honestly admit that I havent the slightest idea if each dish is perfectly authentic and if the spice blends are exactly like you would find from a New Delhi street vendor, but the taste - as Ive already mentioned - is truly top-notch, and the workers are always kind and quick. Mirch Masala is a local gem that keeps me coming back each week. Highly recommended.

Friendly people and food quality that is among the top two or three that are better than all than the fast stuff in the food court.
