Today was the first time I had to visit this place as i wanted to try from so many days. And Im an Indian and I know very well how to cook the Indian food. And I also know the taste of most of thw Indian food. I only given rating one because I dint have oprion to give zero ratings. The reason behind to give 0 is, this place does not know how to cook the indian food. Whatever I had today it was uncooked. They gave onion pakoda which is basic food every indian get in all the places in Indian. Pakoda was horrible it was brown from outside and from inside it was not even cooked. This was horrible with first taste. Then the chicken tikka, it wasnt cooked and taste was horrible you should never go to this place have Indian food. I dont know how people have voted so much to this place. I mostly believe all American have voted who does not even the real taste of Indian food. I would suggest to all Americans and Indians, its a waste of money to go to this place. Drive little bit you will have good food around this area. I have visited most of the Indian restaurants around this area and this is the worst indian food I have ever experienced. And I have also noticed they dont even have much options in buffe area, only two vegie curry option which were just horrible in taste and also one chicken curry which is butter chicken and worst butter chicken which ever had, no taste and not even cooked. Please dont even try to to this place, if you want to waste your money and health then you can go. Because I never get stomach ache in my life but after eating food I had to visit hospital in the urgent care. And Doctor said it was all due to the food which I had in the afternoon. I humble request to everyone who is reading this. Please give this guy a zero rating so no one should go to this place. Thank you...

The perfect place to go if youre making a poor attempt at being "adventurous" with your food choices. I suppose if your daily diet consists of bland and uninteresting food and you think every restaurant needs a wine list (wine?! at an Indian restaurant?!), you might think its appropriate to pay 17 dollars for a lamb dish or 10 for a Palak Paneer. Our experience was apparently typically awful-- slow, gruff service and boring, uninteresting food. The only interaction we had with any of the staff was from the server who refilled our water glasses, who admitted that they intentionally tone down all of the food to accomodate the clientele who werent at all familiar with how indian food is supposed to taste. Ive sampled a wide array of Indian cuisine, so I know that the stuff that isnt spicy still is quite tasty, but *this* food was like eating wet paper. The only thing that was halfway passable was the garlic naan, but everything else was a disappointment. I wouldnt mind if the food wasnt so expensive, but considering that I can easily get the same dishes elsewhere at nearly half the price, this was just insulting. The service was pretty wretched too; our server took fifteen minutes to deliver us two samosas while in the interim he chatted up the "better dressed" clientele, probably angling for a better tip; we obliged his expectations. Theres no reason to go to this restaurant and pay exorbitant prices for poor food and lousy service when tastier, quicker and cheaper alternatives exist less than five miles away (Kohinoor Dhaba and Saran, for example)

Many Indian buffets will have one or two crowd pleasing dishes and a bunch of filler. Haandi pleased with every dish. I was impressed enough to try a little sample of everything. Top notch. The service was fast and unobtrusive. They kept up with my rapid water intake and my glass stayed full. Fresh naan was brought to the table quickly. I didnt have to wait for my check to be dropped off or returned. The decor is not really my taste, but was nothing to complain about. Its a small place and it has plenty of booth seating. There or little "windows" cut into the walls that are top lit and have paintings of Indian men and women strolling outside. The walls are pink and the carpets and chair upholstery is burgundy/maroon. I rate quality of food heavier than atmosphere, and I felt Haandi delivered. They were Zagat rated from 08-11. The great buffet selection makes it worth checking out. I am rarely in Falls Church so I cant compare them to surrounding Indian restaurants, but I imagine theyd stand up.

This is probably the worst Indian restaurant in the country! Of the 4 items ordered not one was cooked properly...as if they just heated some leftovers in a microwave, sprinkled some cilantros on it and served. And to justify it the staff had a explanation for their food..."we do it this way" ..heck.. then you have no frggin business to call the food by its popular name. Call it "Hanndis Alberto Frukkichini " on the menu...dont call it "Hyderabadi Bagara Baingan". And if you order soup, have the courtesy to wait for the customer to finish the soup before serving the main course. Do I have to make a choice as to which one I let go cold?. How many times will you ask if you can get the main course? And ..can you... for heavens sake sport a smile? I still fail to understand why it is so difficult for an Indian looking customer to get a smile from a attendant in many a Indian restaurant? Is it the rotten colonial mindset that you bring to the US? How much does a smile cost?

Haandi is the best Indian restaurant in the Washington area, a pure gem. The menu has something for every taste--fish; chicken; lamb; vegetarian, and the portions are generous. The tandoori salmon is exquisite, and is perfectly complemented by the rice, the choice of sauces (green, brown, creamy cucumber), and the bread is wonderful, particularly the bread stuffed with potatoes and peas. If you have room for dessert, the pistachio ice cream is delicious. The service is gracious, attentive and friendly. At any price, this would be a perfect dinner restaurant. But at the very moderate prices Haandi charges, it is a spectacular value.

When I go into a restaurant I check how clean they are. I do this by checking the bathrooms if the bathroom is clean then you can bet the kitchen is. Next the food no matter what you order is great and great does not say it all. I have been going to this place for over 10 years so I know what I am talking about. Plus you can see it in the pride they have when you enter. This place I not only give 5 star but to me it is rated the best in the DC area and I have tried other places. Lots of other restaurants dont even come close. There are NONE in Chantilly and I have tried them all.

Im not usually this harsh, but this place deserves no stars. Food was terrible. We ordered a Chicken Tikka Tandoori ($17) and not only was it old and dry, it had no taste whatsoever! Palak Paneer ($14) was of the same vintage...maybe even older...the rice was at least two or more days old...the naan was hard and burned...add an inattentive waiter and exorbitant prices and voila: 0 stars!!! Dont waste your money on this restaurant. You stomach and your wallet will thank you!!!!!
