Quiet possibly the BEST pizza place I have EVER been to EVER!! We were visiting from out of town and Mamma Lucia came up after looking for kid friendly places to eat. We had a large party of about 12 or so, so I called ahead to make sure we could be accommodated before bombarding them with 5 kids under the age of 7, and very tired grown ups after a day of travel to DC. From the second they answered the phone they were fantastic. I did not get names (shame on me!!) But she was excited for us to come try them out and said she would have us ready to seat when we got there. When we arrived we were greeted by a wonderful older lady who knew immediately we were the party who called and took us straight to our table. We shared some funny banter and it was like we were long lost family and all of the staff was smiling and greeting us. She brought our her "very own special" coloring books and crayons for our little ones to use and was sweet as could be. Lets get to the good stuff... FOOD. we had calamari, a spinach, feta salad, some pasta that was on the nightly special menu and two pizzas. EVERYTHING was FANTASTIC. You could tell that love, time and quality ingredients were used in every thing they made. She even came over and cut the slices down for our little ones (HUGE SLICES!!) and joking offered to do it for the grown ups as well. I cannot say enough about the food. It was something special!! Our waitress was great as well, she never let a glass get empty, when my daughter knocked her drink over, she was there in an instant changing chairs, mopping up the spill and a new drink appeared like magic. Overall if I could give 100 stars I would. Resturant was clean, food was fantastic and staff was beyond friendly. We are from the south, so for what ever reason we never expected to have such a friendly reception in DC. (My whole thought on that is different now however; DC was FULL of friendly folks) Mamma Lucia will be a place I will return to over and over while in DC :)

Not impressed. Based on seeing other reviews, I thought I would be. We were seated at a tiny table -- so small that when our pizza came, our plates were under the pizza stand. We ordered a meat lovers pizza -- our usual choice at pizza places. The toppings were high quality and everything seemed fresh, but the pizza sauce was thin and bland (and we asked for extra sauce). In most restaurants there is more flavor than just tomato -- it has Italian spices -- but I didnt taste any here. Im from the northeast and have had my share of NY style pizzas. Also Im Italian. While we are looking for the perfect mom and pop pizza place and have yet to find it, I wont name names, but weve been to several places that were better here in Maryland, and less pricey.

Love coming here on days they have specials. Whether its the wine, pizza or pasta special night Monday through Wednesday. Stopped by the other night for a pasta carry out order. They had the food ready in under 20 minutes. Included in the dinner was 4 slices of bread, 2 salads with the 2 pastas. Food was delicious, well seasoned and very large portion. Great for a party of 2. We actually had a lot of food left over. I always love ordering any pizzas, penne norcina, any pesto pasta and eggplant Parmesan. Their pizzas are pretty large. But, if it wasnt a food special night Im not sure if Ill be dining here. You save on average 30-40% per dish and Im not sure if its worth it.

went there for a late lunch ordered mussels to eat in the restaurant and a pasta dish to take out, the mussels were the smallest shriveled up things Ive ever seen largest one was barely 3/4"!! have never seen them this small! to bad because the sauce was excellent that came with it. but yet they charge plenty for it. the pasta dish was ok, the pasta undercooked and the chicken flimsy but I able to fix it up, I use to go to mamma lucia quit often but this is it, there are plenty of decent places you can go to and spend less then $26 and get something that is good

After a long trip, the last two things you dont want delivered are cold, thick crust pizza. Well, guess whats sitting on my table in my hotel room. Probably the only reason I am writing this is that the owner insists it is "New York" style thin crust on the online menu. Unless I am missing something here, the crust is about 3/8" and is NOT thin crust. This pizza was delivered cold to my hotel; I gave the driver a tip and the total came out to $40, including salad and dessert. I cant even think about eating a pizza like this at a restaurant!

I should have left as soon as I realized the staff did not even know what was on their own menu (if you order anything from the "Antipasto" section of the menu, you will get it a-la carte). I told two staff members what I wanted, exactly as it was specified on their menu, only to get two confused looks and then an argument, even after then pointing to the item on the menu. The food was mediocre, the soda fountain wasnt working, and there was one 30-inch TV to serve the entire place.

Im not sure where the other ratings came from, but I love this place! I am on a gluten free diet and THIS IS THE ONLY Italian Restaurant I have come across in the area to offer Gluten Free pizza and its really GOOD pizza. They also offer a gluten free pasta dishes as well. The staff is friendly and kind, the service is outstanding! Ive gone here and enjoyed dinner with my non gluten free friends and had great food and a wonderful time.

Excellent food, superior service. The only thing this restaurant is short on is ambiance. Of course, who needs to be distracted by ambiance when the food is this Good? One of the best acid tests for a date-if he/shes unimpressed by the appearance and doesnt recognize the quality of the food, they are a throwback for sure.

A-MAZE-ING! Absolutely amazing! I was so impressed with how much food I received and how well prepared the food was. My family and I all got different pasta and enjoyed every bit of it. I got the cheesecake as well and loved it even though it was a bit pricey. I will definitely be returning.

Great service! The food was pretty good as well. Large portions. The atmosphere is slightly more upscale with linen table clothes. The one down side was the noise. With an open kitchen it made it very loud in the dinning area. We will be back. It was even worth the drive.

Food is great, especially the New York style pizza. Best in area. Staff is very friendly. Funny thing is that it could be very minimal customers in there, but theres NEVER a shortage of very attractive waitresses, which is in no way a bad thing

The staff is really nice but the food is so not worth the high prices. Yeah, i guess the portions are kind of large but the specials are waay over priced for something that tastes soo average. Its not much compared to other ML locations.
