You cannot beat the great food, the reasonable prices, the neighborhood atmosphere, and the warm and welcoming owner who will show you to your table at the Parkwood Diner. My family has been going to the Parkwood at least several times a month since it opened five years ago, and its become kind of like going to visit your favorite uncle, the great cook. Pete greets my son with a high-five every time he walks through the door, asks us whats going on in our lives (complete with followup questions from the last time we were in), and gets us a table right away, no matter how crowded the place is. The salads are huge, delicious and creative, and theyre always adding something new. (Tip: Always ask for the dressing on the side because theyre so big, yoy will want to take half of it home for lunch the next day.) The burgers are big and juicy and have spoiled me to the point that I rarely find one elsewhere that measures up to Petes. Try the sweet potato fries, too. The best Ive had. The sandwiches, like the salads, are abundant and delicious. My hubby cottons to the wraps and loves that the chicken is always juicy, never dry. We usually stick to the typical diner fare -- burgers, sandwiches and salads -- but the entrees Ive tried have been top notch. I particularly appreciate that Pete knows how to grill seafood. I have never had an overcooked piece of fish at the Parkwood. Its a great place for breakfast, too -- super omelettes, and really good coffee. Oh, and on a day when youre feeling sick, I recommend calling the Parkwood and ordering a quart of chicken and rice soup to go. Pete has a few longtime wait staff who are top notch. One of them even remembers how many cherries my son likes on his ice cream. The other poster is correct that some of the newer servers have been flighty at times, but Ive seen Pete be very open to suggestions and critiques, so tell him what you think. He is always working to improve his service. And he delights in seeing customers enjoy their meals.

Got there around noon today so I expected it to be busy and it was. I was by myself so I ate at the counter. Took forever to just get water. Asked for it several times. I had to keep asking for stuff because no on was really checking in me. I believe they need more wait staff for busy days like this. The wait staff is pleasant, dont get me wrong. But its annoying to keep asking for basic stuff like water and coffee refills. I ordered the chicken and Belgian waffle. Loved the waffle but the fried chicken needs work. Too much batter and they are frying it to a hard crisp where the skin falls apart when touched. Its also greasy. However, the chicken was seasoned well and you get a nice serving size. There is a way to fry chicken so its not crunchy but crispy. At the end of the day, its a diner. I dont expect rock star food. I would come here again but probably just order a burger or an omelette.

Food is really good here. Its actually being cooked because it took a while to get out which is good. Didnt like that they have food sitting out on a table on this side when you walk in. Looked like corn chips. Place looks dated but who cares about that if the food is good. I was with a big group and the waitress there didnt seem too nice. She took away one members food away when she wasnt even done yet. If im paying to sit in youre restaurant to have a meal you should pay attention to your customers and not just take their food away. Ordered mashed potatoes on the side and it was very cold. That was probably the only food complaint i have.

AVOID! Went here this past weekend 5/24/15 after coming back from the street fair and to say we were less than impressed would be an understatement. There was an altercation with one of our entrees portion size (certainly did not match the price) and when the manager came over he didnt try to remedy it; instead he insisted the chef put 3 slices of roast beef and never apologized. Service was slow and inattentive, food was mediocre at best. As we were leaving the manager had the audacity to stop us and ask us if we paid?!?!?!? Been in food services for a very long time and that is no way to run a business. Will never see me in their again.

Went here recently after a year. First off my party was showed their table, then there was a long wait just to order our drinks. We were served a complimentary house salad that looked stale and as if it was sitting out for a while. The waitress could hardly hear our order and screwed up one order. We felt like she was rushing us to leave and upon leaving the hostess asked if we left the tip on the table which I think was unacceptable. Food was great, but do not rush your customers to leave and ask if we left a tip very unprofessional.

The good: Excellent salad- the Popeye. The complimentary Israeli couscous salad. The bad: Pitiful portion for an open face Turkey sandwich with lackluster bad tasting gravy. The ugly: horrible single serve mens room is soaked with urine, garbage overflowing from the can and a hand dryer that ends with wiping on your pants as part of the unwritten instructions. Not a fan of this place but the older Hispanic bus person is the best Ive ever seen. Make this guy a waiter.

Excellent food in a very friendly environment. Service is fast and quick and reminds me of my New York Style restaurants where every one is friendly and the waitresses take the time to talk and have fun while serving. Food is always fresh and tasty and the prices are just right for a diner. always have a good experience when I go to the Parkwood Diner.

Down home diner. Lots of food options, good price, and there was live music on the night we arrived (Mon). Its the sort of diner you enjoyed going to with the family when you were a kid. Our waitress was attentive and polite and we felt well taken care of.

After missing our flight and spending the night in Newark, my sons and I found this place for breakfast. Warm welcome, great service and really good diner food. Pleasant decor and super clean. Thank you for a nice start to our day!

I had the stuffed salmon with baked potato. The potato was well baked , nice & fluffy. Coffee good. The carrot cake was not the best Ive had. All the food here looks very delicious. Put of my way in location but worth the trip.

Service was fantastic. Went on Fathers day and they were prepared. No table was empty for more than a cleaning but that didnt create a rush for servers. Food was fresh and very nice portions. Will visit again.

Im not really a pancake lover but my husband is. We went here on a whim and we ordered pancakes and the veggie omelet. I was amazed at how delicious they were. I wont eat pancakes from anywhere else.
