My wife and I really enjoyed this restaurant in their old location... and would eat here every few weeks. The staff was nice and the food was outstanding. My last three visits ranged gone from mediocre to outright terrible. Im not sure who the person steering this ship is, but they mustnt have much experience in the local restaurant scene. Frankly, I cant imagine a scenario where anyone would run a restaurant in such a manner. On our most recent visit, there was not one person out of 6 that cared for their meal. We ordered almost all of their antipasti starters and the only one that held any merit was the antipasta platter... the rest of the starters were completely ordinary. Each of us then chose to order one additional item from the primi/secondi menus (ordering both now can reach a shocking $60 - massively overpriced!). I had their Pesce Del Giorno... drum fish. I cannot remember the last time I have had such a bad fish dish. The texture and flavor approached frozen and boiled fish. I didnt even care to finish it. There was absolutely nothing original or well executed. As we finished our meal, we asked for our check only to realize that they had added 20% on for a party of 6. Certainly this is reasonable for a large group, and no one objected to 20%, we all would have probably tipped more... and the service was actually friendly and better than other visits. But SIX??? Mandatory 20% tip on 6 people?? I have simply never encountered this and cant imagine a scenario where this restaurant feels that they are acting reasonably. In a final, and completely jaw dropping episode, our three American Express cards were rejected. They informed us that they no longer accept Amex. WOW!!! Even McDonalds and Taco Bell accept the ubiquitous corporate expense card. Again, the idea that customer service is completely irrelevant is the theme I walked away with. To think that a restaurant would not accept Amex to save 1% on a meal that is $60 for a first and second course is pure folly. Frankly, I have never been to a restaurant that doesnt accept this card. The only other "restaurant" I can call to mind is Waffle House... and that is about where the service offered now lies... yet much more snarky and snobbish. But alas...I will likely never have to worry about a restaurant not taking Amex again... since I will never eat here again.

Located in historic downtown Covington, Del Porto is very good. This was an attractive, hip restaurant. We were seated immediately by a very friendly host and that quality service extended through our meal. Everyone who we encountered were professional and provided great service. We started with beef carpaccio. Never having eaten raw beef, I was skeptical. It was amazingly thin slices of raw beef with lettuce, sauce and crustini bread. Together it was a unique, but very tasty bite. Our next course was salad. Each of our salads had amazingly fresh greens and homemade dressing. They were also very good. For entrees we had the fish special and the steak. The steak was my entree and it was one of the best steaks I have had. The "painted hills" New York strip was cooked perfectly with crispy potatoes and was truly amazing. This is one of the best restaurants on the Northshore. I highly recommend it. One interesting thing I noticed is the bar scene. The bar was crowded with women who were just having drinks. This would probably be a great place to get a drink if youre a single guy.

Probably one of the best dining out experiences that you can get on the Northshore if not New Orleans also. Their food menu changes regularly in an inventive and creative fashion, but the quality and taste remains constantly superb. As a former employee, now a professional in the area, I still recommend to all my clients, friends, and family to dine here. Also, from an inside perspective the chefs and cooks never cut corners and give you the best quality food and preparation of any restaurant in the states. Sincerely impressed. I hope they are here to stay, because I will always remain a loyal customer...And the martinis dont get me started, delish!

As a native of the Covington area I have to say I highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is larger than it seems, with beautiful wine displays, mirrored back rooms, original art, etc. I have always been seated on time to my reservation and with grace. The staff is very friendly and well mannered. The food has always been consistent and fresh. Waitstaff is attentive and well trained. And the restrooms, which always reveal the true quality of a restaurant, are tastefully modern and in line with the overall experience. Nothing is left to chance. Things are beautiful, cozy, elegant, and enjoyable at Del Porto. 5 stars

Guess they had a bad night for our party. This is a great restaurant in the middle of Covington worth a drive from New Orleans. Risoto and pigeon were great as were the pass around appetizers especially the shrimp. However, the veal was woefully undercooked and was inedible but the chef made it right and tried again with much better results! I will certainly back as this is a bery good restaurant.

We love this restaurant but do not go as often as we would like because of the noise. It is so loud inside with absolutely nothing to help absorb the noise. Yesterday for the first time I received a dish that was not so great. I had the Artisan Spaghetti described with lump crab meat but must have forgotten about the crab meat. Maybe Hmmm...

Weve been coming here for date nights for the past 6 years. It has never not been one of the most amazing meals and we talk about it for months afterwards. Only downside (and plus side) is the menu changes so dont become attached to one favorite as it may not be there when you go back. You will find a new favorite, trust me!

Love the ambiance here. Waitstaff was a bit arrogant. Got our order wrong and brought us a half piece of fish each instead of whole order. Our eyes bulged out at the tiny piece of fish we were served. However it was delicious. A bit pricey. We did split a prima pasta of butter, garlic and lump crab. It was ok.

Took my wife for a delicious evening at Del Porto. Appetizers were tasty, main meals were fresh with hand made pasta and yummy pork. Dessert with 3 scoops of gelato, biscotti and espresso is going on favorites board! Service was great. Yeah! Gotta quit typing, my wife will finish it off...

Excellent, authentic, Italian food combined with a nice selection of wines and a bar that excels in traditional cocktails as well as artisanal martinis that are sure to delight, Del Portos has become one of the finest dining options the North Shore has to offer.

One of the best meals I have ever had. The tuna crudo is to die for. the restaurant is sophisticated but comfortable. The staff were awesome and I had a wonderful experience. If you find yourself in this beautiful town, do yourself a favor and eat here.
