This was the second time we dined at Bari. The first time, we all really liked it especially the pasta. This time around, not so much.. We order a plate of raw oyster and it was not fresh.. fishy taste. We had two other appetizers and they were okay. The pasta I ordered, Orecchiette Pugliese which is salted by cured anchovies was bland. Couldn’t taste the garlic nor the anchovies. The only good thing was the rapini in the pasta; it was very fresh and done nicely. I got really sick couple hours after the dinner. I vomited twice and I couldn’t stop shivering for over an hour. I couldn’t move around without feeling nauseous the whole night and the next day. I had food poisoning and my guess was the oyster. I ended up staying in bed all day the next day. I had nothing but crackers and ginger ale and the nauseous feeling finally stopped that night. After that I had cramp every time I eat something for couple more days. I am now back to my normal self. Will I eat at Bari again? probably not.. ps. the other person who had oysters at the party had stomach ache while we still at the restaurant.. she was fine few hours later and didnt get sick like I did though.

Wow, it started when we requested 4 different items and they were out of everything. Coincidental... Then I asked to modify a salad with the remaining "available" items and that should have been a non-issue...but instead we were told there were no substitutions...so what happened to old fashioned customer service? There were 3 couples were at my table, seniors, baby boomers, and the Y generation. No one had a positive experience from the food to the extreme lack of professional customer service, or customer service alone, and to the demeaning attitude of ALL of the servers to the consumer. From someone who has served at 3 different restaurants in Memphis, I was truly embarrassed for everyone in their field. Not to mention, I now work at the corporate office in town of a national franchised restaurant. It was a shocking experience and the food alone did not entise me to return. I hate to write a bad review of an independently owned local restaurant and I hope that this can be used as constructive criticism. - never to return

The service was friendly and reasonably professional and the atmosphere pleasant although the tables were too close together. The food, however was bland and disappointing in flavor from the appetizers to the dessert. The ingredients seemed to be of fairly high qualithy, but were handled poorly by the chef. This is the type of pretend quality that you often find in resort towns. Memphis has many better restaurants.

Food was alright, not very flavorful. The pasta left A LOT to be desired, all it was was nocci and butter, the fish was whole and FULL of bones and they give you 1 small piece of bread. It took over an hour and a half to get our check and it was messed up 5 times. Management is terrible and did not even apologize for bad service. I will never go back

Bari seems to be slipping lately...on a recent evening dinner, I made a selection of various cheeses...honestly i just wanted to say to the server, well what do you have available? as everything i asked for was out...the sardine entree was overcooked and lacked any flavor...and come on stop being stingy with your bread, we kept having to ask for more

Bari is one of the best, most authentic Italian restaurants Ive been to here in the States. If youre idea of Italian is red sauce and lasagne, then it might not be for you, but if you want excellent food, a well-curated list of Italian wines, and a knowledgeable, pleasant staff, then you should try Bari.

my favorite - small plates mostly, everything a la carte, but excellent, fresh and real italian - northern style mostly - great cheeses (over 100 to choose form) wine list - great bar area and choices - fish is always fresh - fresh pasta homemade - you cant go wrong!! portions are not huge

I was a bit surprised how conventional the food tasted to me. I sampled quite a few dishes and felt that the food was not really what I was paying for (more about the atmosphere). However, as high end Italian goes, this is about all Memphis has. The wine was great.

My boyfriend and I have gone multiple times and have tried different dishes - carbonara, squid ink, butternut squash, ossobucco and more. All dishes are wonderful! Bone marrow is a must. Their daily specials are always on point. LOVE IT. Never disappoints. Gooooo!

Had a wonderful meal at Baris tonight. Thomas, our waiter, was very attentive and friendly. He recommended sardines and promised they were not from a can - sardines!! They were delicious! Music, ambience, food were delightful!

Amazing! We had alcohol with our meal so take that into consideration when looking at the cost per person. I love the size of the place. The food was divine and our waiter was so nice and helpful.

One of the best places to eat in memphis. Modern Italian, the bar and restaurant are separate but share a kitchen, its different but regardless, you will have a good meal.

The best Italian cooking within 300 miles, and a very interesting, all-Italian wine list. Go, and you will go back regularly.
