6 Stars for the food, less for the service. Mind you, the service wasnt bad, its just that it was a bit perfunctory, a bit too cool for school. As if they were much more friendly with people they knew than with people they didnt know. This was my first time. No smiling faces. I wasnt greeted, thanked, nor was I wished well upon exiting. But the employees did all of that with other folks they seemed to know by face and/or name. Having said that, the carnivore pizza for meat lovers was absolutely delicious. Their brick oven gives the crust a nice light and flaky, charred exterior, while the inside remains pillowy soft. The cheese and meats were first quality, and I even enjoyed the fresh and aromatic tomato sauce (which at most pizza joints seems like an afterthought). Finished everything off with their freshly-bakrrd cookies. Absolutely some of the best cookies Ive had in a while. Chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin were stand outs. Perhaps theyve been reading too many of their near perfect reviews, or perhaps it was just an off day, but a little smile and a "thank you" go a long way toward rounding out the near-perfect culinary execution and experience.

Ill back away from the claim of the best in town since there are so many places; and I am sure some that may measure up to this; but this place has simply put; GREAT pizza. We got the house cured salami with arugula. The crust was spectacular but the ingredients on top made it even better. Cheese, outstanding, house cured salami excellent, and the fresh arugula sent it over the top with a peppery fresh finish. Dont miss this place. It is a complete, right on. You can have a craft brew next door and the staff will bring your pizza over to you when its ready. Ginos in Va Beach was my standard to measure by but Im pretty sure I have found a new standard. A++

Simply put, the most authentic pizza I have encountered in the USA in many years. Crust is tender, without a large mountain of plain, untopped, bready crust around the rim, as seems to be the standard in many authentic Neopolitan and other local pizzerias. The toppings were fresh and flavorful. Having spent the greater part of several visits to Italy sampling pizzerias on a daily basis with my daughter and son-in-law (an Italian), I could not, until I tried the Bakehouse, say that I had ever found pizza that was comparable. It may be a one-off, but I will definitely return for confirmation.

Omg yall. I saw all of these rave reviews and had to go try it for myself. We went in early on a Saturday morning to ensure there was a good selection to choose from. We decided on a morning bun, chocolate croissant, and a peach turnover. All 3 of these pastries were huge portions. The chocolate croissant was good, and the turnover didnt have any flavor at all.... but the morning bun was absolutely out of this world. It had just come out of the oven and was still warm. It is full of ooey gooey cinnamon sugar buttery deliciousness. Its amazing and a must try.

My wifes wine , a cab, was very good and generous pour. My Knobs Creek bourbon was a scant ounce in a large glass and over priced. Her oysters were very good, her corn bisque with lobster was watery, thin and had very little lobster. My breakfast for dinner was not prepared by a chef. The grits were lumpy, the eggs were overcooked, the bacon was undercooked and the praline french toast was not edible as it was burned and had no taste. The whole meal was over priced. Service was acceptable.

They told me it would be ready in 20 mintues, I get there 15 mintues later and the pizza is already cold. When I got home to eat, the pizza wasnt good at all. The pizza wasnt impressive at all, however, their chocolate chip cookies are AMAZING! Maybe I got there too late (around 6, they close at 9). I would not go back for pizza, but those cookies were good. Dont understand why everyone rated it so well.

The best pizza in Norfolk. Not even a question. Its criminal how good the pizza is and I have had to limit how many times I stop in during the month, because I need my arteries to last me into my 80s. (though they do have a vegan pizza, so I mean, I guess I could start giving that a go). Their Challah is also great, but I dont get there early enough for most of there really awesome baked goods.

Breads are the best in Norfolk! Coffee of the chain!!! I hate to say I walked out this morning. I waited 10 mins yesterday for the line to move. I could see it was going to take longer this morning. Hope you guys will open an express line! The lady on the front line is very sweet. She reminds me, that we all do not have to be in a hurry.

so delicious. Perfect to take to one of the local breweries near by which is exactly what we did. They are also on apps like order up and probably Eat, so you can get your food delivered to you. We got the medium bacon Gouda. Something about that wood fired oven that does something to a pizza. In a good way!

Awesome pizza. Good prices. Neat atmosphere where you can watch as your food is being made. Walking distance to breweries and a beer garden where you can take your pizza (they also deliver to the next door establishment). And the staff is friendly. I recommend the bacon gouda.

My boyfriend and I recently spent a weekend in Norfolk checking out the breweries and kept getting recommendations from the bartenders to check out the Bakehouse near Benchtop and Smartmouth breweries. This pizza was BEYOND. The crust was so fresh and it was so perfectly done

I believe this is the best pizza parlor in Norfolk (maybe in Virginia Beach). I heard that the owner used to be an instructor at a culinary school, but take that with a grain of salt. The pepperoni pizza might be a bit oily so I opt for arugula and salami. Yum!!

I got a cookie from here that was so amazing. If Jesus was a flavour, he would be that snickerdoodle. Also got a loaf of bread I forgot about for a few days that went stale. Tosted it up and even stale, is the best bread I have had in a very long time.

If I could smell just one thing for the remainder of my days, it would be the inside of The Bakehouse at Chelsea. Burning wood and baked goods is an unbeatable smell combination. The croissants and pizza crust here are superb.

I went with one of my best friends, it was our first time there. The food was AWESOME!! We both had small pizzas, they were freshly cooked, crunchy crust like Pizza is suppose to be. I would absolutely go back again!!

Delicious local bakery with a nice selection of pastries and sandwiches. Very quaint atmosphere. You can watch the bakers preparing the breads for baking. The wait can be just a tad slow since this is a busy place.

Im happy to find this place! I went there and tried a pain aux chocolats (chocolate croissant) and it was as good as one from my favorite bakery in France. Thank you! You bring me home the time of the dégustation!
