Let me just get this out of the way at the get-go. Brobecks has the best ham salad, bar none. If if you dont like ham salad, try it. The app is served with crackers and their home-made potato chips, but so long as it is served with a spoon, Id be happy. Now that Ive talked about that, I love Brobecks meat. The ribs are great and available as an add on to any other meal, Burnt ends are excellent, and I especially like their red-beans and rice made with the burnt ends one day a week. The smoked ham is as good as Ive ever had, and is the base of that fantastic ham salad. They have sausage ground especially for them and it is also quite good. The ribs, brisket and other meats are smoked with a flavorful dry rub, and BBQ connoisseurs assure me that it is best eaten without adding sauce... Im a heathen and like sauce. Brobecks does offer TWO house sauces, a traditional sweet bbq sauce and a Carolina style mustard based sauce, which is the one I tend to use most. If neither of those suit your fancy, they also have a self-service sauce bar featuring many local favorites, and all the white bread you could want. I have a few favorites amongst the side dishes. Cheesey Corn and Corn Nuggets are tasty. The Mac-n-Cheese is literally Kaft blue-box dressed up, and they dont try to hide that, and it is good anyway. And ham salad, of course. - you know you can buy it by the pound to take home too. The atmosphere is friendly and quaint and clean, but not impressive. What is impressive is on any given day youre likely to have Owner, and Pitmaster Doug Brobeck come by and thank you for dining with him and ask how you are. I would like there to be more seating sometimes during the lunch rush. The service staff is what I expect at a decent restaurant. They typically keep my glass full (and I go through a lot of tea or water in one meal, so thats nice) and theyve never got my order wrong.

Traveling for work in the area. I have been to many BBQ places all over Georgia, Texas, and several in this area while I have been here. I have had many of dry rub BBQ. I have also worked many of restaurants in my younger years. I ordered the Brobecks large sandwhich with brisket and sausage. Potato salad on the side. My co-worker ordered burnt ends and baked beans. The meat on my sandwhich was very chewy. The meat was very dry. Almost as if it was yesterdays leftovers re-heated. Dry rub doesnt mean dried out meat. I had to douse it in BBQ and mustard to get it down. The potato salad tasted exactly like Costco or any store bought. I guess everyone is so used to this type that they dont mind it. You want good potato salad go to Joes Kansas City BBQ. The burnt ends my co-worker had looked re-heated as well. He barely got them down. He stated that the baked beans tasted just like Bushs. You want good beans, check out Jack Stack. Heck they also have some of the better BBQ. The service was nice and friendly and on the ball. However, if you are to claim the best BBQ, you might want to check out your competition.

When I first walked in it felt kinda like your average luncheonette. Nothing special in the décor but I learned never to judge a BBQ place by decor. The waitress was friendly and cheerful. I had the combo plate which consisted of Ribs, Polish Sausage and Pulled Pork. The meat was good. Nice and tender but dry. Had to put sauce on it. This is about all three meats. Was pretty much happy with the meats. The sides are another story. The cole slaw was average. Tasted store bought and had that limp kinda cabbage that gets that way from soaking in a jar on the shelf for a few weeks. Definitely not fresh. The Mac and cheese was terrible. Tasted and looked.like Kraft Macaroni and Cheese topped with a little shredded cheddar. I almost always love the M&C at BBQ places and this is the first time Ive not finished mine. Took two bites and pushed it away. Wont go back. If a BBQ place cant bother to make their own M&C or cole slaw then ya gotta wonder what other shortcuts theyre taking.

Out south with Kaden and we were hungry. This joint is in an old Dairy Queen space. Its a joint and the staff was really helpful. These guys are hard to find unless youre headed to the post office just around the corner. Kaden had the burnt end special and I had the ribs & sliced beef special. I chose the potato salad and we had corn nuggets. Their corn nuggets are some of the best . We both liked the burnt ends and I really liked the ribs. Interestingly they do everything dry and then have house sauces on the table, but dont apply any. Their traditional sauce was good, but I like their yellow vinegar based sauce better. If Im out there, Ill go back. I want to try their onion rings and Texas Toothpicks. We were served a sample of the ham salad dip, which was very good, but not what Id get at a BBQ joint. The only complaint Ive got, is Id like the servings a little bigger.

Just ate at Brobecks for the first time and it was a great experience. You can smell the smoked meats from the parking lot. The place has a 70s vibe to it and it really works. I got a sample of their ham salad and captains wafers for being a first-timer and it really is tasty. Plus the "sample" is the size of a mini appetizer! I ordered a sandwich with polish sausage and pulled pork, and a smoked baked potato with cheese as a side. Everything was delicious with the yellow BBQ sauce at the table, even the potato! I had never had a smoked baked potato before, and now I cant imagine eating them any other way! Also, the server was friendly and personable and I think the food came out about 5-7 minutes after we ordered. Definitely no complaints there. Ill be back to try the ribs and brisket which I didnt get to have this time around because my stomach can only hold so much!

I worked at a BBQ joint in my early twenties. You could say that I am very passionate about my BBQ. When I first moved to the KC area I was on a mission to find my new spot to get real BBQ. Ive tried more places than I care to remember but none can compete with Brobecks! The fact that they offer all the meats DRY in a city known for its sauce is bold. If sauce is your thing I think they offer 5 or so options (the spicy sauce is a welcome throwback to my old place of employment) When my friends and family visit and request I take them for great BBQ.. knowing my reputation as a BBQ fanatic was on the line Brobecks had to be my first option. Long story short they LOVED it and always order ham salad and burnt ends to take back home with them to show friends/coworkers great Kansas City BBQ. TRY THIS PLACE!

Offers to go or sit down dining. We got there early and didn;t have to wait for a seat. I went for lunch with some work people. Service was excellent and food came fast. We all had the burnt ends lunch special and it was fantastic. The meat was lean and not fatty as can be the case with burnt ends. The house sauce was a sweet tomato based sauce. Very good. If you do not choose to use the house sauce they had other restaurant sauces available such as Gates, KC Masterpiece, and even Sweet Baby Rays. Interesting concept. Their house sauce is very good. Did not sample other sauces. We all got fries as our side. The fries are steak fries and were cooked until crisp. Just right in my mind. The restaurant is situated in a strip mall. I hope it stays open. I will return.
