Do NOT use for CATERING!! The catering service here is horrible! You think you are getting a good deal, think again. If you pay for 100 people, but only 75 show up and you dont use all the food you paid for well then too bad because Smokehouse is taking all that food back to supposedly "throw away" for "safety and health reasons". According the catering manager at Smokehouse, the food can not be left after a catering event because it is no longer "safe" to be consumed after 1 hour. Hmmm?? I asked if this was a health code standard, nope it isnt. It is just a Smokehouse BBQ policy. Only we werent told that ahead of time. So when it was time for the caterers to leave then they packed up the food, labeled the aluminum containers, and put it in the van. Not sure why the containers needed labeled if the food is just going to be thrown away! So I asked the question...if I am eating at the restaurant and I dont eat all my food after an hour, then am I allowed to take that food home in a box? Well sure I can take that food home. So what is the difference? I was told the difference is mass quantity! So I cant consume cold meat that is cooked? Cold pulled pork and brisket is fabulous! And what is wrong with cold creamed corn, cold baked beans, and buns? I dont see how any of this is "unsafe". If you ask me, they were going back to sell that leftover food the next day OR the caterers were going to take it home themselves. Bottom line....dont use Smokehouse for catering because you will be taken for your money. Was the food good? Always is. But management, catering, and policies stink. If this is the way management and owners are going to run a business, then they will quickly loose a lot of customers. (I did my research on catering prior to writing this post, all the places I called leave the leftover food with their customers. You pay for the food then it is yours!)

Not the best BBQ in town! Or even in the Northland! Service was slow and it took forever to get our food. The table behind us arrived after we did and the received all of their food before we did. The food tasted good but very much over priced. My meal was Pickin Chicken with fries and beans. Very little BBQ sauce and very tiny bowl of beans and I would have gotten more fries out of a small at a fast food place. My husband had the grilled chicken with a salad and beans. The chicken didnt have any sauce on it nor was he ever offered any sauce. Over all I probably will not be going back A meal for two set us back 50 bucks !

Nice little mom and pop feel BBQ joint. This was recommended to me a few weeks ago and decided to check it out. I got the a crispy sandwich and some corn nuggets app. The nuggets got my meal off to a great start. They are like little balls of creamy fired corn, loved them with some ranch. Then ordered the crispy sandwich, the serer said it was one of their most popular items. I understand why, it was so tasty. I asked for it with the sauce on the side, and asked for all their sauces. The hot was the winner of the bunch, all good but i love some hot bbq sauce. will be recomminding it to my friends

Ahhhh Smokehouse. The one constant in my life. Never changing. Always there for me with darn good bbq through all the ups and downs of life. While this may not be considered by many to be among "the best" in KC, it should be. In all the many years that I have been stopping here, Ive never been disappointed with the food or service. Always friendly, and most importantly, always excellent bbq. Consistently top notch. While many other bbq joints have come and gone or waxed and waned, Smokehouse is still here serving superb bbq to its loyal customers. And I am proud to be one of their most loyal.

As a chef I expected so much more than was delivered. But lets start out with the waitress. She was wonderful. Now to the BBQ I am in Kansas City the so called BBQ Capital ( self proclaimed) the brisket was shaved had no flavor and the pulled pork was over cooked and the two was covered in a thick sauce that I ask for on the side. Well that didnt happen . The restaurant has a lot of potential to be a great BBQ restaurant. Please cut back on the sugar and apple cider vinegar in your slaw. I will go back and give another chance

I wish I had read the other reviews before we went here! Visiting from Texas and ofcourse we airways hear about the great BBQ in KC, so we went here and got a carry out order because someone recommended it. The pork ribs were tough and had no hint of a smokehouse at all. They were drowned in sauce which was not what we expected at all. Great BBQ places usually let their meat speak for itself. The best thing about our food was the pickles and bread. Sort of felt ripped off for $17 for food that ended up in the trash.

Lemon cake for dessert is Not lemon cake. Its a sunshine cake which is orange, with lemon frosting. Doesnt taste good. Told the manager, and waitress. She said shed remove ftom bill. Didnt. My husband had Sunday cheesecake and he really enjoyed that. The sandwiches and burnt ends we had were all delicious service was good and this was our time of taking our mom out and celebrating Mothers Day . She was disappointed from her dessert but at least we had a good time besides that

Decent, but not outstanding. We tried the ribs, pulled pork, and burnt ends with sides of coleslaw, fries and beans. The beans were outstanding. Coleslaw was swimming in mayonnaise, and the meat, while cooked well, was slathered in far too much sauce. The menu is a vast and nuanced thing of excessive complexity. They might do better simplifying it by cutting better than half the strange and pointless items like hamburgers, off. It is, after all, a bbq joint.

Its been 5 years since Ive been in town to eat at Smokehouse. I was very disappointed, the meat tasted like accelerant, not the Smokey flavor it used to have. The coleslaw was either going bad or is now vinegar based. I had the burnt ends platter and unfortunately, will never be back again. My family has been going here since they opened inn the mid-late 80s. This was the worse experiences. Wait staff/Management were GREAT! this is solely based on Food.

The side dishes were the best part of this meal. I appreciated that the restaurant accommodated a larger group for us, Although the the food and the portion size left a lot to be desired. It was a decent meal, but nothing that I would make a specific point to drive to. Kansas City is known for their BBQ, and there are significantly better options that give you much larger portions, higher-quality and better tasting food, and all at better prices.

Had a terrible experience at Smokehouse BBQ last weekend. 20 min wait quoted turned into almost an hour with many parties that came in after us seated before us. The service was awful once we got a table. The meat was only okay and my coleslaw was RANCID. I would have sent it back but the waitress never visited again after the food was delivered. There are SO many better BBQ places in KC, avoid this one at all costs!
