We have been to the buffet twice now, and weve enjoyed everything. The restaurant looks very nice, and the buffet is set up nicely. There is a selection of chutneys and salads always available, plus a soup, rice and naan, and a several main dishes, including some vegetarian ones. Chicken tikka masala is a favorite dish of ours, and theirs did not disappoint. The chicken is fork-tender, and the sauce is wonderful. The Raj Special Chicken is nice and tangy. I tried several of the vegetarian dishes (I dont remember the names) even though Im usually not a fan, and they were surprisingly good. The staff is very friendly and checked on us regularly. The absolutely only thing that disappointed me is their one-free-refill-only policy on iced tea. They need bigger glasses if theyre going to do that! But regardless, well be back regularly, because the food is excellent!

This was my third try at this restaurant and I continue to have a very mixed experience (to be fair, all three visits have been to their lunch buffet). The environment is tastefully decorated and the place is clean. However, the charm ends at that point. If you get to the buffet early, they have a decent selection of food, but if you get there after its been going on a bit, good luck. Overall, the food selections were ok, but nothing too great. The amount in each serving dish was small and not refreshed, so once it was gone, youre just out of luck. The temperature is not well controlled so the food becomes tepid. The person clearing dishes was rude and abrupt, almost to the point of being hostile. For the third visit, the results have been consistent. There are other, better, Indian joints nearby.

Review updated after a few months and repeated visits. I added a star for much improvement by the restaurant. The interior is nice, but nothing special. It has few decorations, but I assume they will add over time. The tables were nicely covered with white tableclothes. The utensils and plates were heavy and nice. The buffet is is very upscale looking. The food is generally good, but not outstanding. Indian is my favorite ethnic food, and I have had both restaurant and home cooked dishes many times. The dishes tend to be a little too salty. I like that menu is rotated to add variety. Occasionally though, they serve a dish that is delicious. Give this restaurant a try. I would like to see an Indian restaurant succeed in Olathe amidst the crowd of Mexican restaurants there.

Visited over the weekend for the first time and loved the food. The host was very friendly and has a very elegant persona. However, Im not sure if they were short handed in the kitchen or what, but for a place that didnt appear busy at all, the food took a long time to reach us and there wasnt any communication about it. Again, loved the food when we got it. I ordered Butter Chicken, and it was a bit spicer than I anticipated. Im a weakling and prefer a 0 on a scale of 1-10, and this felt like a 4 to my unsuspecting palate, but through "the burn" the flavors were all delicious. Well definitely visit again, but if the service is as slow as it was this weekend, I dont know if itll become my new favorite.

What a wonderful cultural experience! My first try at Indian food---and I was very pleasantly surprised. I loved the background music--soft and gentle. We tried the sampler appetizer, because I was a little hesitant. It was a culinary delight. The manager took our order and made suggestions---asked us about how spicy we liked things...and we were both very charmed by the tastes we were experiencing. We had a bread with black sesame seeds and Chai tea which complemented our meal. The atmosphere was pleasantly quiet and soothing. We will definitely return. Raj Mahal has nearly instantly become one of our favorites.

Wife and I had dinner this past Friday (about 5th trip there). My wife has 5 serious allergies but we give them her business card that lists them and they take great care of her and make the most delicious food. Friday we split butter chicken and tandoori chicken and for the first time left without leftovers...and maybe just a wee bit full. More people need to discover this gem (deep in the back of the parking lot so not easy to see from road). Always friendly, helpful with the menu and your water glass will never get below half unless you ordered "Indian Hot" and are trying to keep the flames at rest.

This was my first and probably the last time to this restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helpful in giving us more information but the whole point of going to a restaurant is their food. Being an indian and knowing the taste of it since birth i have never ever tasted indian food that was so bad. Being a very moderate cook i can probably make better dishes at home. I chose to go to this restaurant after reading other reviews from our fellow americans. But if youre looking for authentic indian food then this is definitely not the place to go. I hope they make better tasting food in future. Thanks

Went here for lunch today with some coworkers. Upon entering the restaurant, we first noticed that the temperature was about 82F. Thankfully, after mentioning this to one of the very courteous staff members, he turned off the heat. I had to laugh that all of the fans in the restaurant were blowing full speed all the while. The lunch buffet is served gourmet style, and contained a great variety. Naan was served aside from the buffet. Overall the buffet was prepared well and appeared very appetizing. The restaurant is close to my work, and very well-priced. We will return.

This is by far the BEST Indian food in Kansas City - Karma Sutra has some major competing - the buffet is mine family (4mon 2yr 8yr & daddy) & I most favorite - the salads, main courses, & desserts are always being tested (NOT the same every visit) & the manager ... ahhh - freaking AMAZING - upon entering, hes ALWAYS got a smile - gets the kids mango smoothie (to cut the heat) & personal plates with little spoons - weve been tending this restaurant, since opening (in 2016) - they know me pre during & post our youngest & I tell you what BEAUTIFUL beings - AMAZING food

Ive never had Indian food before today, so take my food rating into little consideration; There were plenty of Chicken-based dishes (No beef or pork) with a variety of sauces/spices. On the cold side, they had onion-based dishes. Their Chi tea was good. None of the flavor groups were ones I am familiar with however, definitely not bad. Staff was great. Very friendly and had a good handle on the needs of our table (drink refills, bread refills, etc.) Atmosphere is more business casual. Quieter than the average restaurant.

I havent been there for the dinner service because the lunch buffet is so inexpensive at $10. The lunch buffet has soo many options and there are a lot of vegetarian choices too. I do wish the dish had a description but the host is happy to explain anything you are interested in. I particularly like the butter chicken. The chai tea is really delicious also. Its not been super crowded when Ive been and I like that. Its really calm and relaxing. I especially like that your drink never goes empty and they keep the naan coming.
