Worst food and service. I went to eat here in New Orleans on magazine street and they posted online that they dont take the buffet down until 10:30 at night, so my mom and I got there at 9 oclock at night and they had taken the buffet down and they refused to say that the buffet doesnt stop until 10:30 at night, so we had to order from the menu. We ordered from the menu and my food was so hot that it was inedible, one bite took all of my drink to put out the heat in my mouth. I told the owner of the place that I could not eat this and he wouldnt take the food back and said it was a great dish and didnt apologize to me. They blamed me for their mistake. My mom told them that she was not going to pay for that because the food was so inedible, the food was like fire. They told us that we had to pay for it anyway and my mom refused. I was going through chemotherapy because of having cancer for the fourth time, I have stage 4 rectal cancer due to years of leukemia when I was little. I have had full body radiation and a bone marrow transplant with congestive heart failure, and I told them due to chemotherapy and radiation to get rid of the tumor in me, that I could not eat spicy foods and they did not seem to care. I was wearing my chemotherapy pump on the side of me and showed it to them and they said so what to me. Did I mention Im just a young teen going through cancer for the fourth time? We decided to try this place one more time and arrive there at 8 oclock at night and they took the buffet down even that early. They told us we were not allowed to eat there anymore and turned us away with me being really weak and sick from the cancer treatment. These are the most unamerican and very rude and mean people who work and own this place. No one should eat here, they only care about money, not the customer.

I dont normally leave reviews but this place was such a disappointment. I had heard bad things about this place but we have it a chance anyway. My partner and I both work in restaurants and are not very picky customers but the service here was beyond horrible. The staff was immediately rude to us when we walked up to the host stand to be seated. We ordered off the menu instead of the buffet and it took way too long for anyone to take our order. Especially considering most customers were eating the buffet. They obviously forgot about our drink and food orders because someone came up 20min later asking if we wanted to order when we already had. It took an hour to get our food and we had to ask for the check 3 times, eventually we just went up to the counter and got it. The food was good but the servings were very small for the price. They made no effort to apologize for their obviously terrible service. We will not being going back. If youre in Nola and you want Indian food, youre better off making the drive to Baton Rouge for Indias or Bay Leaf.

Being English, Im used to eating Indian food on a regular basis! New Orleans is something of a wasteland when it comes to Indian cuisine, so I have to cherish whats available to me here! It was nice to see that the menu differs in some respects from the owners other restaurant, the Taj Mahal, in Metairie. I had the Mutton Rara, which was tender and nicely spiced. My companion had the Murgh (chicken) Sonja, which was a huge amount of food, but which he also enjoyed. I find the Naan bread a little over-buttered to my taste, so I ordered the one with onion seeds which nicely cut through the buttery flavor and added a pleasant crunch to boot. Im glad they also serve a good mango lassi (yoghurt drink). Considering that it was a Wednesday night and the place was nearly empty, the service was a little slow, but not objectionably so. I could imagine that it gets loud when the tables are full.

As i am from india and interested to eat my traditional food me and my friends went to eat in nirvana. taste is okay not more spicy but after finishing my food and went for billing they charged additionally 12$. we asked for what this is and they said its tip for us as you guys are five members. I said with out my permission how you can deduct money from my card they said its a mandatory to give tip for us and its a minimum common sense to know ti give tip. They also talking about law, saying that you move to any place in US its a rule to give tip and in new Orleans its mandatory. I said i went to lot of places like florida, mobile, Texas but no place has such rule. Nirvana guys learn how to respect customers we are in USA and dont create rules rather follow rules.

Buffet: don’t expect Indian style biryani or chicken curry or lamb/mutton. I guess Buffet menu is mostly similar through out the year. Starts with Veg soup, Tandoori roti and tandoori chicken and pakora as starters followed by main course Sweet butter chicken, spicy like chicken or shrimp curry and dry basmati rice. Vegans have panner curry or dal options with same dry basmati or tandoori roti. Dessert has not many options gulab jamun or keer sweet. My recommendations: if you want to try biryani with side of chicken or fish appetizer try Al carte where you have a lot many options. Drink section is huge with both alcohol and soft drinks, do try mango lassi!! Overall it is better than Tajmahal, Punjabi tandoori grill and Shans.

Just ate here. Not only did everyone seem to hate their job, but no one ever came by to ask how things tasted, which was pretty mediocre at best. And now my stomach and my wifes feel horrible. Did I mention my bill was literally thrown on my table as the (3rd) server we had went to another table? Since I dont live here, I will most likely NEVER be coming back, but I highly suggest you skip this place and go to a restaurant that cares about its food and customers. As I walked by, I saw that they were awarded a Best Award by LocalEats. I guess that is easily won when it is the only Indian restaurant the website shows for New Orleans....I thought the award seemed suspect given the poor service and food...

I have been going to this restaurant since I moved here almost two years ago. I have never had anything like what is described in these reviews happen. Never been over charged. Great food and great service. Everyone there has always been super nice. I havent had Indian food all over the world, but I eat out a lot. The only other thing I can say is that I work in the service industry, it is easy to mess up a bill, not only have I done it but I watch people do it all the time. Especially in a buffet style situation, I bet if you would have said something they would be glad to fix it. You get busy and accidents happen, no one is perfect. When you go out to eat the people serving you are still just people.
