Alright its time I bring the truth. For many years I have attended shinju and have received the same mediocre food. The only thing that happens to be great is the service , no offense. Lets start with the amazing sushi selection! First selection is vast but why do it if all the sushi comes out crappy, sticky, and tasting funny. None of the sushi seem to carry it unique taste. I am a huge fan of sushi, I would eat sushi off the floor I love it so much. Shinjus sushi has their sushi tasting quite foul at times. One time the sushi was so bad I requested to ask for a fresh one, the man not only gave me a smug look but just grab a fish rolled up in some very dry seaweed looking thing and handed it to me. The worst part is it was worst then the Sushi I originally didnt want to eat. Remember I have been hitting this shinju Buffet many times. Now the food is where they step it up a little bit but lets not get ahead of ourselves. Tasteless food sometimes you get lucky with some good food. Only thing they dont mess up on it the ice cream and charging you a nasty price. Overall shinju has been put on a pedestal for a reason I dont know. It needs to either step their game up or lower their price because coughing up 25 bucks per head is not worth what you get in quality. I only wrote this review to explain even after years the are still a mediocre buffet. They can defiantly have potential to be amazing if hey would step their game up. They come off like they dont care what they are giving you

Arrival, had to wait very little. Asked us how many and we told her, that my 4 year old does not eat (he doesnt). We were in a party of 8. As soon as we sat someone offered him a french fried and he took it. Immediately the server came to him (my 4 year old) and said... You have to stop eating immediately or I am going to charge! I was absolutely surprised, and she repeated herself. I said, listen 1st of all I am his father and you speak to me not to him "he is 4 years old" just charge for him, I dont care. She sent the manager who did not say good evening or anything and charged on... how we will have to pay for him, because he was eating, etc, etc ... I said to her "Listen I already told the server to charge for him, he ate a french fried potato, do you need to charge? then go ahead, but leave us alone to enjoy dinner". I am sorry but I had lost my temper and my appetite by that time. The food was decent, nothing better or worst than you get at any Japanese buffet. At the end when I paid the bill, the manager followed me outside and said: You know sir. You have to be more kind next time" I simply responded... Dont worry there wont be a next time! ... If you like Japanese buffets there are better choices and better service. I would never try to get away with not paying for my child, but their rudeness really ruined the evening for us! I wont go back... EVER!

My family (wife and 2 kids) have eaten here many times. Decent sushi, crab, hibachi etc..., last time we came here with the kids (who do not eat this kind of food) I told the waitress the kids arent eating. She said the the kids cannot taste or try anything. I thought to myself, wow there has to be a nicer way of saying it. Anyhow, Im not the type of person to try and cheat the system and there were no problems. Today my wife and I went back again with our kids (we fed them before coming) this time a rude and snotty non-asian hostess says "kids cant eat, taste, touch or do anything with the food".. I said I understand ive heard it before and my kids dont enjoy the food here. Then she says Ive heard that line before and you people still do it! What? She totally ticked me off and we turned around and walked out... I vow never to return here and let all friends and family know what happened. I prefer to drive further to the Shinju on University than here... Their lack of service and rude staff will be their down fall!!!

Im giving them five stars. Ive seen at least two people rate this place low because they bring their kids with them who dont eat sushi and are treated unjust when the kid eats, or the server tells them they cant or they will be charged. well you know what, Im sorry but they are doing their best job to protect the business and where they work. There are people that will go places and get their kids to eat free. Servers are not security guards, they should not be in charge of having to sit there and make sure that people dont cheat this business. Now to the restaurant, its a very nice place and I always see it packed so they must be doing something right,. servers are great, they pay attention when you need refills and when something may not taste right. setting is very nice, and prices are kinda steep however it is a buffet and we all know how we as humans gorge on food nowadays. this place gets five from me.

I enjoy Shin Ju. Last night I went there and the food was good (but questionable in my head because of the disturbing news by articles Ive read about Shin Jus locations). I ordered a water and buffet for one person and left spending more then $25. I dont know if its just me, but I didnt feel like what I ate was worth almost $30. If you eat a lot then maybe its worth it, but I dont think a little sushi and a glass of water is worth that money. A few of the choices were empty through out my whole visit, and werent refilled which is a little annoying because it was dinner time and thats whats expected. Ive worked in food services for years, and this place is alright, but I probably wont go back.

The sushi is ok and fresh but I like to stay away from filling up on rice. The Sashimi (White Fish, Salmon, Tuna), basically sushi without the rice, is awesome! Then the hibachi grill I stock up on tons of shrimp and peppers! Then I go for the Crab legs and Claws. Desert is ok but sometimes they have a flowing chocolate fountain on weekends that I really enjoy as it turns into a shell on on my ice cream. I will give it 5 stars because its the best I have been too but they could up their game with desert and the sushi. Still the best sushi and desert than any of the others.Oh they also have all the other stuff like chinese food, fried shrimp, oysters, pastas, salad bar, etc.
