Since we live only a couple of miles from Sakura, it is often our go to place for sushi, and we also take family and friends there when visiting from out of town. Weve always been pleased with our experience, until last night, and as a result we wont be back. We ordered Pork Gyoza for our 13 month old son, and when they came, they were deep fried. We simply and politely asked if we could have them steamed instead, since they were for our young son. The waitress asked the manager/owner, who said NO, we would have to place another order for steamed and pay for the second order. We were shocked, any decent restaurant would honor this simple request. The menu didnt state they were deep fried, and we didnt think we needed to ask. After expressing our disappointment with the owner (who went on and on about how all of her customers order them deep fried, only one customer orders them steamed (why does that even matter?!)), she offered to not charge us for the deep fried version. Due to their unwillingness to correct a simple ask (especially when it pertained to food for a 13 month old!), and charge us for the correction, we wont be back.

Drive back from North Carolina to Tulsa by way of Nashville and had to try the highly rated Japanese place. We shared a Teppanyaki Filet, Pork Tonkatsu Bento and Teriyaki Chicken Bento. We thought the salad could have used more. Basically, it was iceberg lettuce with a pretty basic sesame dressing. Given the small size of the salad, I think some effort to add onions, carrots, other vegetables and maybe another type of lettuce would significantly improve this dish. It just seemed that the salad was not worthy of effort. I ordered the filet medium rare and got medium. The dish tasted wonderful and accompanying vegetables were delicious ....the highlight of the meal. However, the steak portion was small, especially for the price. The Tonkatsu was fine, above average. The chicken was well prepared with typical teriyaki sauce. The sushi that came with the Bento boxes was marginal at best. The high rating for this place just isnt justified and for the price, its way too high.

Im not the type to partake in the "hillbilly" fare found in most Chinese run sushi houses, but this Korean owned and operated restaurant is phenomenal!! Especially the John roll. They almost always have fresh Sea Urchin and Soft Shell Crab Tempura. In my opinion, the only draw back is the early 90s price point. I think people have gotten used to how cheap sushi has become and have forgotten it as the Gastronomical Art it is. My opinion of Sakura, (2) thumbs WAY up. Roll in some time and "sea" what I mean.

I ordered 2 rolls. The waitress brought them over and I could smell a weird smell, but thought it was the sauce they put on top. So I ate one of the rolls and it was okay, but when I went to go eat the other one I immediately had to spit out because it tasted terrible. I later found out that when lobster goes bad it starts to smell like pneumonia. And that exactly what it smelt like and it tastes even worse. And then the waiter asked me if I didnt like it, and I said no. He laughed. Would not go there.

I try to support local businesses as much as possible, but it KILLS me that if you dine in at Sakura the lunch special comes with soup and salad, but if you order to go, you pay the same amount and dont get soup or salad. Every time I dine in it is practically empty, so I know they could use the business, but I refuse to pay for food Im not getting. Sakura, please change this policy so that you dont lose one of your regular customers!

We eat a lot of sushi, and always love everything everywhere we go. Sakura really is way above average in every regard, but especially in flavor and presentation. Weve always had an awesome meal here for totally modest prices. My only disappointment has been the calamari. It tasted great, but there was little on the plate and it costs $7. Eat here. Itll be your new favorite sushi joint.

This is the second time coming to this restaurant. The 1st time they tried to give us someone elses sushi by mistake... THIS TIME, the waitress took our cups for refills.. She was holding numerous other dirty plates from other tables... She set our cups in with the dirty plates ... Then filled them up and brought them right back.. Yuck, that definitely cant be sanitary!

Ive come here 3x now and ordered a variety of cooked and raw items each visit. Sakura has thrilled my bf and I each time! Melt-in-your mouth filet. Habachi veggies are the good ones - not just fillers. Best fried rice Ive EVER had (egg tasted super fresh). Sushi was excellent quality, many options (incl soy paper) and sushi construction was on-point. Health Score 98%.

This is one of those few local restaurants I go to all the time. The food is delicious and they have a variety to choose from. Speaking of variety, the Bento Box is awesome, having a little bit of everything! And the sushi is wonderful too. Of course the staff and how they treat you is a huge plus too. Its just a wonderful place to go.

I order sushi here at least once a week and have yet to have anything but a wonderful experience. The owner is always there and so kind. The sushi is also fantastic. My favorite in Nashville! Give it a whirl. The Nashville roll is incredible and if you like spicy, the 911 is for you.

Best sushi in town. They have a very limited selection of bubble tea, but its the only bubble tea you can find in Nashville besides Mr. Bubbles.
