I was driving nearby decided to give this restaurant another try after a poor experience about 6 or 8 months ago. My 1st impression was that there is no barrier between the outside and the inside of this restaurant - this was an issue in the winter when I last visited as my booth was very cold and received "cold waves" each time the door was opened. A 2nd set of doors is needed to keep the cold out. This is not very relevant to last week; however, I was very cold last week as well (Air conditioning) - a point brushed off by the hostess and later scoffed at by the manager. After being seated the service was decent and the server was pleasant. Unfortunately the potatoes that came with my breakfast were not very warm and clearly werent freshly prepared. I mentioned my concern and server got me new and warmer ones. My concern is that the new ones arrived about 2 minutes after the server left - they were warmer but clearly not freshly prepared. I again mentioned this to the server who said shed talk to the manager about taking them off of my bill. The rest of the meal was good (eggs and sausage) to decent (pancakes). When the bill arrived, it was set down. When I looked at it a bit later, it was clear that the potatoes had not been removed from the bill. It took a while to flag down my server and when I finally got her she said that I had eaten most of them (which was true) so the manager declined her request to comp them. I asked for the manager. After a delay the female manager came to see me. She was clearly agitated and surly. I asked her why she declined to comp the potatoes and why the server didnt proactively address this with me. The manager said the server should have talked to me. I then informed the manager that I ate the potatoes because I was hungry and they were edible (but not good). She claimed they were fresh, etc. which evidence suggests is not accurate. They may or may not be prepared on premises but at best its done well in advance and they are kept in a warmer (potatoes dont get cold and soggy on the grill!). The manager was not pleasant and while she offered me a gift card so Id try this restaurant again - I declined. Twice bitten - 3rd time shy.

Update - 2016 - It was pretty empty and we were seated fairly fast, but it was mostly downhill from there. We never received water and it took a bit to get the drinks and food ordered. Once the food was ordered that is the last we had anyone stop by. My bacon was black / burnt, not crispy, but black - not sure how this even left the kitchen. I would have asked for a replacement, but we never had anyone stop. The waffle was more of a pancake with squares, not crispy at all. For a $30 breakfast for two, I expect a little more, we get more service and attention at Chick Fil A. We finally just had to go wait up front to pay and they had to track down our ticket. With the number of breakfast options around, I am afraid to say this is likely the last visit. We have been a few times since the initial review and it slowly gets worse each time. 2015 - We finally made it over to The Egg & I, we were seated within 5 minutes on a busy morning and got drinks soon after. I ordered the Apple Cinnamon pancakes with bacon, the bacon was perfectly cooked and the pancake was a very generous size. The flavor of the pancake was good, but there were only hints of it. I was expecting more of a bang from it, but looking back if it was loaded with flavor it may have been too much. My wife had the waffle and it was crispy and very good.

the food is fresh and delicious. the servers are top notch but if you are one of the few people that dont like what you ordered-you are out of luck. its not the managers problem you ordered something you didnt like and you are going to pay for it. like the lady with the flu that explained she had been sick with the flu and it was her favorite place to eat but she was just going to try a bowl of fruit because it was her first time out since she became ill. i told the manager the situation and when her 4.00 fruitbowl came out,,she was to sick to eat it.. I took it back and told the manager. the lady is to sick to eat it"well she isnt getting it free. she should have stayed home. "who goes out with the flu and then wants their food free cause they are to sick to eat it. Ashley Ross the manager says-go tell them I am not taking it off. She should have stayed home. the spouse loved the food-egg and i lost these people for good over a 4.00 fruit bowl. I quit that day. I have never told a guest-we dont care you are sick you should have stayed home. her dad use to own the place. sold out in March and Ashley thinks she is still invincible. so sad.............. in 30 years in the hospitality industry I have never seen anything like this.

Decided to try out Egg and I despite several negative reviews. My wife and I now have a new Saturday favorite and purchased gift cards to come back with others. I normally dont write reviews, but found the negative reviews all so wrong, that had to provide this 5-star. We loved the extensive menu, and look forward to trying many other egg entrees. This place puts LePeeps to shame, and we like LePeeps too. I enjoyed the seasonal Holiday Hash with poached eggs over potatoes and greens. Didnt know it didnt come with toast, but our attentive waitress threw it in no charge. My wife ordered buckwheat blueberry pancakes with eggs scrambled and loved her meal too. Hazelnut coffee was also very good. Both our meals under $10. Wow! Our waitress, Christine, recommended coming back at a less busy time to receive better service, but not sure service could be any more outstanding, despite a Sunday morning at 11:00. I also looked around, and found many other smiling, happy patrons in a full restaurant with 15-20 minute wait. Glad those with negative reviews arent coming back, so my my wife and I can continue to enjoy this new favorite with shorter wait.

Waited 1 hour for food with 2 children that were hungry. Took the waitress who had 2 other tables 10 minutes to take our drink order once we were seated. She apologized that she didnt see us and if we waited long. After 10 more minutes we receive our coffee and waters. We order the food and proceed to wait another 40 minutes. Throughout the wait the waitress stopped by every 15 minutes to assure us that ours was next... After 35 minutes of waiting for the food we were running out of time. I asked if we could get our order to go and she replied that if she could bring it now would that make a difference... I said no and proceeded to wait for 10 more minutes. After getting the bags of food I headed to pay for the food and was greeted by the "manager." I explained I have been here almost an hour and I was not happy. He then asked if I had "too long a wait..." LOL I said yes expecting him to try and make it right and he walked away. Anyway I ended up dropping the kids and ianswife off and eating my omelet at work.
