twas the only rainy day in chicago so ramen seemed like the appropriate food for lunch. stopped by ramen house shinchan and wow, where did all these japanese speaking japanese people come from?! i assume there must be a supplier / japanese company nearby. i really wanted to try the taiwan ramen (since you know, im taiwanese and all), but decided to go with the "best condition ramen" since i wanted veggies. i was served the biggest bowl of ramen ive ever seen, so big that i only ate half and got the rest to go. the stir fried veggies were delicious topped on top of the ramen. the broth was a little too salty for my liking, but great flavor profile. owned and operated by japanese. totally legit.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Chicagoland. The ramen is amazing and the side menu (on the chalkboard) has some interesting food I havent seen at any other Japanese restaurants in the area. Every dish I have had here has exceeded my expectations and the owners are very friendly and usually greet you at the door. The atmosphere is perfect. If you go with a small group they have tables available, and even if you just stop by yourself for a quick bite they have bar seating available to get you in and out as fast as possible. The service is very quick, I usually wait no more than 10mins for the main dish to be brought out.

Located in a strip mall, so not too promising from initial appearances. However Ramen Shinchan provides excellent ramen and outstanding service. Opens at 6 PM pm weekdays (5 PM weekends), and there is almost always a line of people waiting to get in. Service is very fast, however, so if you cant be there when it opens, wait a little while - they seem to move through the opening rush pretty quickly. A rare find in the suburbs - really good, reasonably priced, authentic ethnic fare. Fantastic on a cold winter evening!

Finally, a delicious ramen place in the northwest suburbs! most bowls are $8-$11 and contain more than you can possibly eat in a sitting. I get the Best Condition every time I go - its spicy but delicious. If you like tea, try their $2 cans of iced oolong tea. I would add that it has recently expanded into the space next to it and have not had to wait since.

Excellent food, great atmosphere, friendly staff. The misokatsu is superb--definitely on par with the last time I had it in Nagoya, Japan. If youre looking for authentic ramen, Shinchan is fantastic. If youve ever wondered what specialty dishes from Japan are like, Shinchan offers Nagoya-style food at very reasonable prices. Im definitely going back!

This place is hands down one of the best Japanese authentic ramen joints!!! The broth is made from scratch and not crazy sodium galore like other places I have been. The friend wings is pretty darn good. I havent tried their rice dishes but I have no doubt it is good. Highly recommended the owner and staff are solid keep up the good work!

Ramen here is delicious, as expected. Unexpectedly, the ramen noodles themselves are different based on the different type of ramen you order. So tonkatsu ramen has different noodles than miso ramen. Usually the ramen is the same but the soup is different. Nice. Still like Sankyu ramen better, but that is personal preference.

悪くない。日本の定食が食べられる。値段も10ドルぐらいなのでお手頃。かつ23時までやってる。残業のお供。でもちょっと胃もたれした。油が合わないのか、、、

Ramen House Shinchan has been featured on some of the Chicago food blogs as one of the top ramen places in the city and I was pleasantly surprised it was located out in the burbs close to me. I think because of the popularity prices are a bit inflated for what you get, but the food is good and the staff friendly.

Best ramen in the area. The chef is from Japan and makes ramen amazingly. Great place, you wouldnt even know the owners work there, very down to earth and hard working couple. Fantastic food, we always take visitors here from out of town! My favorites are the karage and the pot stickers...

Amazing ramen. My fav is the best condition ramen because it has a ton of stir fried vegetables on top. A little spicy with plenty of garlic. Update: they just renovated and the place is twice as big. Lost a tiny bit of its small charm, but probably worth it for getting a seat quicker.

The food here is delicious and authentic, and theres so many choices. The service is really fast and everyone working here is always very nice. This is only my second time coming here but the service has been amazing both times. I will definitely be a consistent customer from now on!

This is the best local ramen restaurant! The food is amazing, and theres multiple options for people who dont like ramen, such as rice bowls and fried chicken. Its usually pretty busy, but the service is quick. All the employees here are friendly and attentive. Its extremely cozy!

The ramen wasnt the best in my book. For a short distance drive both Mitsuwa and Misoya outrank Shinchan. I have heard the appetizers and other dishes are far more better here which is why I will return to give them a shot, but the ramen did not leave an impression.

You know its legitimate when youre the only white person in an Asian restaurant. Efficient service per what a ramen shop should be. Open kitchen view which adds to the feeling of the decor. I had the tonkotsu and it was excellent. Want to try the miso next time.

Excellent, prompt service in a clean, minimalist environment. I had the Tonkotsu ramen: flavorful, but not overly salty, a problem lots of ramen faces. The gyoza were also spectacular. Prices are fair and portions are large enough to have lunch tomorrow.

This is fantastic ramen.People were waiting outside ten minutes before they opened. This is a gem if you do ramen the best is here. I hope with the success they are having they consider adding on to the space next door if not Ill wait for the best.

Best ramen shop in the suburbs and possibly the whole Chicagoland area. I recommend "Best Condition" or Taiwanese Ramen (if you like really spicy)., but all of the ramen is delicious. Excellent portion sizes! Well worth a trip out to Palatine

Awesome little gem hidden in this street mall at the corner of Euclid and Plum Grove. It is small and theres always some waiting. It is so worth it though. Great ramen. It is pretty authentic with all sorts of authentic options beyond ramen.

Do not contemplate, just go. You want this! Update 7/12/17: Been here twice in the last two months and noticed a reduced quality from many times before. Flavor isnt there. Ingredients arent there. Changed my five star to four.

Probably the best tonkotsu ramen in Chicagoland is sold here. If youre into ramen this place is a must try. This place also specializes in food from the Nagoya, Japan. Try the miso-katsu or tebasaki. Delicious.

One of my favorite spots to get ramen in the Schaumburg area. Grab some chop sticks and slurp up a load of delicious noodles that will make you question your existence, because this ramen is not of this world.
