Let me simply say that this restaurant surprised me in the best ways... We went because we had gotten a coupon from a local business. I have lived in a community near Fox Lake for 15 years and never even suspected ZaZas existed as it is in a rather out of the way, hidden locale off the main/beaten tracks into and out of town. I have eaten many times at Incognito...a nice competitor in town and thought it was the best that Fox Lake had to offer. I was wrong. Once we looked the place up on a map we still were doubtful that there was anything there since the locale is far from most businesses in a residential and light industrial neighbornood, but finally driving down Washington Street we saw the sign. There is a philosphy to Chinese cooking that says the best Chinese places to eat are the worst looking because all the effort goes into the food and not into outward appearances. Za Za gave this inital impression. The Sign looked unprepocessing and the building had an air of being under construction. The grounds were in some disrepair and plantings are unprofessional and neglected. Imagine our suprise when we got inside! The interior decor is old school...as if a the fifties and sixties are undergoing a facelift, but it is pleasant enough and the staff more than made up for any hesitation you might have. They were friendly and helpful. The menu was detailed and varied and the wine list solid in both variety and region. Which leads me to the best part...THE FOOD! These guys can cook! I odered veal (which I seldom do) and it was great. Pasta with Vodka sauce was excellent. The rest of my party had ravioli in Lobster Sauce and Pasta Parmegeon Chicken and both raved about it. The soups were home made and delicious and the salad dressings were too which made a workaday salad an experince. They have a superb olive oil to dip your bread in and even the house wines were nice. The tiramisu was good too. Overall...drive past looks and indulge! The prices are higher than most places in town, but frankly your stomach will tell you it was worth it!

My husband and I have been going to Za Zas for 3yrs. We were not aware that it was in Ingleside until we drove by. We stopped for dinner and loved it. The food is prepared fresh for your by family owners and is EXCELLENT! The menu has a huge selection of entrees and appetizers and the bread is to die!!! There is also specials of the day menu . I have never had a bad meal there. The staff is excellent and if you have to wait a little bit longer than larger restaurants it is WELL worth it. Let me say that if you are looking for a real fancy building with modern decor, then you will be disappointed. My husband and I find that an smaller family establishment with excellent owners and food, if more important then chains or high overhead restaurants. You still are seated and white linen covered tables .Call to make reservations a head of time, as the dinning room is cozy but on the smaller side.

Dont go here. I want to keep this gem a secret. The owner may ask how your dinner was. But hes not sincere. The waitstaff will ask if you need anything, and are helpful in any way possible. But they dont really mean it. The bus staff is continually buzzing around, ready to clear your dishes of fill your water, or fetch the server if your drink is low. But... You know, they are just acting. I almost forgot to mention that if you want something that is not on the extensive menu, just ask. Youll probably get it. But thats just the chef showing off.

Come here about 1-2x per uear. Main courses usually very good. We always wait a long time for our food so dont go if you need to be somewhere. Dinner salads are dissapointing. They make a big deal out of asking for separate checks checks for couples. I never have a problem at other restaurants and belive its due to their lack of cash register technology. Mens bathroom needs updating to match a steakhouse name and stunk.

Glad to see even after I have been away 8 years that this restaurant still exceeds my expectation of genuine Italian cusine. The owners Robert and Chef Bobby took time to speak of lost years. Our bartender made the drinks to our liking. Will go back before leaving for Florida. Good Italian food is hard to come by in SW Florida....I guess we are spoiled with our. northern Illinois restaurant.

Worst experience at a restaurant weve ever had. Terrible and rude service and the food is so overpriced and was horrible. Not authentic Italian and really poorly cooked. They argued over our Groupon and made me call customer service during our dinner to resolve our voucher code. We went on a Friday night and the restaurant was empty, which was already a bad sign of the worst dinner.

Dont go in if you dont see a Cadillac at the front door with the plates " zsa zsa". Thats the owners car. When he isnt there, service sucks. Sunday night. 4 tables, 2 servers....... Why do we wait so long for food?? Because all the girls are chatting at the bar having a good ol time. The couple next to us had to ask 2 times for their salad as did we. B

Upscale style, uncrowded, excellent food and the BEST Alfredo sauce. Though I wish the bar area was further from the dining area (less noisy/distracting).
