So far, this is one of my favorite brunch places in the city. Ive had kind of a problem finding a good brunch without having to wait for an hour to get in. I was pleased to find that this was not the case here. The restaurant is huge and there were lots of open seats. There are also roosters all over the window sills, which was fun. I came here with a friend who has severe, deadly allergies and can only eat a certain places that are confident and meticulous in their sanitary procedures. Luckily, Wishbone accommodated us without a fuss. They were happy to use clean cooking equipment and the waitress knew exactly what ingredients were in each dish. Anyway, on to the food. I was happy to find that Wishbone offers bottomless mimosas for $15. They were decently strong and the waitress was very attentive when refilling them, carrying around a pitcher to various tables. I ordered the chicken and waffles, with a side of jalapeno bacon. The former was delicious, and included a chipotle maple syrup which added an extra flavor. The bacon was nice and thick, and quite spicy. The only improvement I would suggest is adding some more interesting items to the menu. They have a lot of standard staple breakfast items, but I think the menu could use more out of the box meat dishes.

I would like to give this review a 5 star since the food is fab, however.... My girls and I wanted to celebrate Fat Tuesday, Wishbone was our first choice because the food is so good. The food was great, the decorations were fun, the music was good. We did not expect to see that the large amount of children there. It seems every yuppie in the neighborhood mistook Wishbone for Chucky cheese. Fat Tuesday is a day of decadense, not a day to have rude unruly children running all over the place. They were running all about the restaurant, sitting at the bar, and playing in the bathroom. When did it become okay to allow children to take over while their parents sat around ignoring them. Very sad. I did thin that it would have been a good idea for the management to advise the parents to supervise their children. I will go back the the restaurant since I love the food, but never on Fat Tuesday again. BTW, for the haters, I raised three children of my own, and they were not allowed to be anything but respectful in public places.

Wishbone is a great place to go eat! I have never been disappointed with anything on the menu! Many times I have eaten here with a large group of friends, and especially on New Years Day! The black-eyed peas of course are a traditional must for a great year! The lines on the weekend for brunch are always long, but Im telling you the wait is worth it. Once seated, the staff is friendly and never rushing you even though so many behind wait for tables. I always order a freshly squeezed vegetable juice with my meal. The decor is a modern twist on a country diner with a theme centered on chickens. I especially like all the chicken figurines that sit on the window sills!

I really want to love it, honestly I do, but it isnt the type of comfort southern food Im accustomed to. I think this restaurant is more like a Southern Cajun establishment. I know most people dont know the difference but, but there is a difference. I have yet to find a real southern comfort restaurant. I want huge portions with fried okra and mashed potatoes on the side. The breakfast here is pretty good, but still isnt good enough to compensate for the other meals of the day. The interior feels --oddly-- like a cafeteria so it kind of throws off the whole southern flair for me. The prices are reasonable but the dinner food is bland and boring.

Theres a lot of places in Chicago that claim to have "Southern food," and even more places that claim to have "southern-style fried chicken," and I can say for a fact that this restaurant has probably the most diverse and contemporary selection of southern food without being over-priced that Ive seen in this city. The restaurant floor is big and has fairly high ceilings and great, chicken-themed art all over the place. Ive never had to wait for a table, even during brunch hours. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and the shrimp and grits, but all of their breads and sides and sandwiches Ive tried have also been great.

We must have come when the place just opened because it was dead. Our waitress was friendly, and I love the choice of free cornbread rolls or chips and salsa. The atmosphere is very warm, and the music was nice, while at a comfortable level. We ordered the chicken and waffles, with a side of cheese grits and brisket with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. So much chicken and cute little waffles with a flavored honey. And three perfectly large strips of brisket. The sides were ample, and the waitress was attentive to our drink levels. I havent lived in Chicago long, but I think I found my new favorite restaurant.

Hit or miss these days at Wishbone. We live nearby and frequent Wishbone often and lately the food has been average at best. The biggest disappointment has been with food coming out cold, especially side dishes. We ordered a side of Turkey Patties and Scrambled eggs, the patties were cold and the eggs under cooked. Crab cakes and Blackened Catfish were also cold and they sent back to heat up and came back a second time cold? This has been the last 6 months of service so were hoping they can turn it around!

I have have been here for breakfast and lunch, but for those two meals, its great. This last time I had the avocado beach omelette, which had avocado, swiss cheese, and bacon, with a side of grits and a fresh biscuit. Not a lot of places know how to make grits properly, but Wishbone does an excellent job, and the omelette was nice, light and fluffy. We sat at the bar, so of course service was excellent. The biscuit reminded me of my grandmothers recipe. Love this place for breakfast and brunch.

This southern cooking inspired spot has some of the best breakfast items. And orange julius? Dont even get me started. I love the french toast - such an original flavor. The decor is very fun and eclectic. Ive never waited long to dine which is a plus. They close for a couple hours between brunch and dinner, so make sure you check if theyre open before you head over! Oh, and if you go on April 1st - expect to be met with an interesting menu at first... totally had us fooled, very fun!

A staple of the brunch rotation. Family friendly, great variety, bottomless tasty cup of coffee, and crunchy french toast to kill for. Yummy cheese grits, thick cut delicious grilled bacon, its really hard to go wrong with anything at Wishbone. It gets packed on the weekends, and they could have a parking lot just for strollers alone but the staff does a great job managing the wait and Ive never had a bad meal in probably 20+ visits.

So good! And thanks to daylights saving time, we scored the perfect booth seat next to window on a sunny sunday morning. Yay! Our waitress was suoer nice and very patient with my indecision. So many good food choices! I settled on the crabcake Benedict and cheesy grits, with a short stack of pancakes on the side that we shared. So good!! Highly recommend! Great food at a good prices. I look forward to going back. :-)
