Underwhelming experience. I came because of the great ratings for a date night but was disappointed upon leaving. Our server seemed rushed even though the restaurant wasnt full. She didnt even greet us, the first question from her was, Do you guys want drinks. My girlfriend and I are very positive people, and carried on through a great dinner but upon leaving we both concluded it wasnt worth our $100 date night from every aspect being just average. Service was not spectacular, Sushi was just okay, and atmosphere was okay. Just left feeling like we didnt get the full experience that others had. Maybe it was one bad meal, I always like to give places the benefit of the doubt, but for my review I have to give it 2 out of 5. Will update if I go back and have a better experience!

Really didnt enjoy my seared tuna steak or sweet potato tempura roll. Interesting combinations all over the menu, but I felt it was all poorly executed. My girlfriends sushi came out warm, which threw off the textures after the first minute. Also, the thump thump thump music was hard to talk over, and the service was kind of slow. Couldnt wait to just pay and get some fresh air. The summary from Zagat is spot on for this place, it is definitely a hallmark of the "Southport scene."

Rise is a staple sushi spot for my friends and I. We love their colorful and flavorful selection of rolls, plus they offer lots of appetizers, noodle dishes and other entree options if someone in your group isnt into sushi. I love their red dragon roll, Tochigi Maki (Spicy tuna roll wrapped in mango and avocado - its very sweet!) and the Mexican Maki with jalepeno. They also have great cocktails and the salads are large enough to share.

The food is quite delicious! I came here with a friend and my dad. The tuna tartar was super tasty along with the flaming maki roll. My dad (who wanted to go to a steak house) had the green curry which he loved. The setting is great and very relaxing. We got there around 6:30pm to a farely empty restaurant, but by the time our apps came the place was packed. I would definitely come back!

Havent dined at Rise in a while but get takeout on a regular basis. Sushi is always fresh and meticulously prepared. Online ordering, with recorded order history, makes takeout/delivery a snap. A bit pricey relative to our previous go-to spot in our old neighborhood, but always feel like we get our moneys worth. Looking forward to getting back to the restaurant at some point.

Oh my goodness delicious! I absolutely crave their tuna tartare. Seriously its the best thing on their menu! They have good, interesting sushi and cocktails as well and their ambiance is sexy and lively all at once and depending where you sit, but hands down, that tuna tartare is the most amazing thing about this place!

Two things: Akuma Maki & Flaming Maki Youre welcome. Also, Lychee martinis are to die for. This place holds a special place in my heart, I have celebrated many special moments here and I personally just love it. But, every single person I have taken here has loved it and gone back. Youll miss out if you dont!

Very enjoyable spot to dine in or take out. Like its sister location "Shine," the assortment of sushi and dishes are plentiful and tasty. If youre looking for something apart from sushi, I particularly recommend the hot pot. Its something you dont see in many restaurants, but reminiscent of the food you get in Thailand.

One of the best sushi places in Chicago. In the Chef Roll the tuna is so fresh that it almost melts in your mouth. Service is always excellent. If anything I think people that go there tend to be really loud. Popular spot for girls to get together before hitting the town

Rise is a great restaurant. Every maki Ive had is delicious, but the Flaming Maki is my favorite. They also have non-sushi items on the menu. My boyfriend loves the teriaki chicken. The atmosphere is quite and nice, and the serve is excellent. You wont be disappointed.

Celebrated my birthday dinner at Rise. I had never been but it is a favorite of my friends, i see why. Great rolls, lots of variety and reasonably priced. When I do sushi, i like to go big and found the sashimi to be fresh and the flavors robust. Ill be back!

This is a solid sushi spot, right off the Brown Line. Nice dining room, walls open up in the summer for a bistro feel. Service is good. Wide selection on the menu even if youre not a sushi person. Not the best sushi in the city, but solid and affordable.

I have tried many... really many sushi places in Chicago, this one takes the cake. Their fish is super fresh and their specialty rolls are to die for. I highly suggest topping off your evening with the Flaming Maki, it is a variation of spicy tuna. ;)

The tuna and yellowtail was very fresh. The presentation was very pretty and the crowd was young and fun. Only complaint is the prices are higher than other sushi places with the same quality. I guess you are paying for the sleeker décor.

Every roll I have ever had here is great. The Flaming Maki is a must!! Try it and you will be back. Sit at the sushi bar if you have entertained the idea of making it yourself. You will get a little show and relaize it takes some skill.

$46 for 2 specialty rolls and 1 appetizer?! Not sure how they stay in business with these prices. Probably too many dumb Lakeview girls willing to pay the price for the trendy "atmosphere". Wont order from them again. HUGE mark up.

Love the sushi but the Tom Yum soup was sooo spicy, I am convinced it has burned a hole in my gut! Kidding- but sorta. I love spicy food as much as the next person but this was unenjoyable. Stick to the sushi. Skip the soup. Ouch.

This is one of my favorite places for sushi In Lakeview. There are so many dive like sushi restaurants in Lakeview but this is not one. You can eat here with me dear of getting sick! Great food, nice dining room and good service.

This is a neighborhood sushi place. Its a great place for a date-night with good cocktails, beer, and slightly-if-not-in-line-with-the-zip-code-overpriced sushi. The rolls are well put together, and the service is decent.

The flaming maki was the best sushi Ive ever had. Get it. It will change the way you think about sushi. With 4 people, we paid for 6 rolls, edimame, and drinks, for only 25$ per person.

Rise has some of the best sushi around at a reasonable price with a posh/modern atmosphere. The service was good, and the outdoor seating is a nice addition when the weather is nice.

The sushi dishes were creative, fun, and very tasty. Not the best sushi you can find in Chicago, though. The drinks were fantastic, the atmosphere enjoyable, but a bit too noisy.

We really liked the Red Dragon roll and the Crazy roll. The prices were good and everything was presented with a lot of style. The crowd was young and fun.
