Had a mad craving for dim sum so I came here with the fambam over the weekend. This place has some pretty solid dim sum. Ive been to Phoenix and Minghin for dim sum and triple crown is up there with the best of them in my opinion. We came on a Sunday so understandably it was packed with people. Luckily, we didnt have to wait long - about 10 minutes. The service was pretty good considering its Chinatown. We had to flag down the occasional cart, but it was all worth it. On the weekends, they push the carts around, but there is also a picture menu that you can order off of if you dont see what you want. We got the usual spread including: 1) taro puffs: crispy fried exterior with velvety taro/meat filling 2) turnip cake: really fresh with shreds of daikon inside 3) Chinese crepes with shrimp: the jumbo shrimp and sweet soy sauce made this 4) Chinese crepes with fried dough: chewy crepe on the outside and crisp dough inside doused in a sweet soy sauce 5) sticky rice: it was just okay - skip it 6) shumai: classic dish that you gotta get loaded with minced pork and shrimp 7) shrimp crystal dumplings (har gow): the crystal wrapper is nice and chewy while the shrimp filling is tender and flavorful -char siu bao: these chinese buns are pillowy soft and contain BBQ pork filling inside) 8) congee: such a comforting rice porridge with bits of pork and egg - great on a cold winter day -the list goes on and on and on... Everything was super fresh and came hot to our table. I was very satisfied with everything and left several pounds heavier. Theres lots of street parking around here so get your ass to Triple Crown ASAP! :) I hear they are open til 3am - I think I found my new place for midnight snacks!!

Never Come Here!!!! Im orginally from New Orleans, Louisiana. During my first expierence visiting chicago, a friend of mine suggested that we go to this Chinese resturant called Tripple Crown. Im not normally a review person but this was hands down the worst service i have ever received in my life. The first sign that this was going to be a "tricky" situation came when i asked the waiter about a non labled picture of one of their dishes. I was told "i dont recommend that for u , thats only for Asian people." I replied: "why exactly do you assume i wont like it ?." He looked flustered for a second ,then frantically pointed to the dish on the menu. Interested in what was so Asian about this dish that an African American man couldnt possibly like it was enough reason to get it anyways. After our food came and we sat for about 30 mintues we were asked several times if we were ready for the bill. When we finally recieved the bill a friend of mine (a woman ) gave the waitress 50$ in ones to pay for her 45$ meal. Before you jump to conclusions, my friend is working on her masters and attends Roosevelt University of Chicago. Actually we went out to the strip club the previous night to celebrate the succes of her play: Royalty( the reason i was in town). My friend was given her money back and told to count it and tell them how much it was!! After all of that, i was handed my bill and presented with a tip option

Decided to have dinner in Chinatown after errands in city. Fairly busy for Fri night after 7. Seated quickly, but downhill from there. Waiter had severe language barrier with us, so took some patience to complete drink order. Drinks arrived in hap-hazard order....1 drink, then two other, and after 10 minutes, the final one...At the same time he was trying to take the food order. Reviewed food order with waiter due to language barrier and and appetizers started arriving almost immediately....but so did the entrees. Weird. After shuffling entire table with saucers/plates/glasses, had to ask twice for silverwear (two guests cant use chopsticks), we dove in. Food was only average. Spicy beef dish had small kick but not what I expected. After half the meal eaten, my sons orange chicken entree was yet to be delivered. I flagged waiter to inquire. He quickly responded that theyre making it. After another 10 minutes, most of the entrees eaten, still no orange chicken. Had to demand manager to produce entree, and then, no comp on the one late plate. Wow! Can NOT recommend this place. Average food, poor and unorganized service, drinks only fair. Could have more ambiance too. For what we paid, too much for whats offered. Try someplace else in Chinatown.

My girlfriend and I go there about once a week for the late night menu (10pm-4am). Why? For one, smaller portions (about 1/3-1/2 the size of the dinner portions) which allows for more variety if there is only a few people going. Second, each dish is about $5-7 each. Third, there is usually parking right out in front. I am Cantonese and my girlfriend is caucasian and we are both somewhat picky when it comes to eating certain foods. We ALWAYS order the Salt and Pepper shrimp (no shells), Black Pepper Beef (not the short ribs, and it is SUPER tender!), and Orange Chicken. I would also recommend the Mandarin Pork Chops if you are looking for a sweet and sour dish that is not chicken. The 3 dishes definitely compliment one another, so give that a try, you will not be sorry! Oh, and do not worry about eating after 10pm. You will be so full you will end up passing out when you get home and the place gets surprisingly busy 11pm or later! Our FAVORITE chinese place in Chinatown!

Family and I went on 8/27/17. This was not our first time there. The waitress was very rude. Acted like we were bothering her. One of tea cups had an obvious crack which caused my tea to drip. The other tea cup had like a lipstick stain on the rim. We brought it to her attention and OMG!!! the look on her face and her tone as if we were imposing in her Sunday. To top it all, they got the wrong order and the fourth order never came. The appetizer came after the meals were served. We had about 5 different waitresses bring our food at different times. Had to remind them each time to bring drinks. Waters were never refilled. The bathrooms were disgusting. Very dirty. Paper towels and toilet papers over flowing from the garbage. Believe me, we will be looking for another restaurant the next time we are in Chinatown. Triple Crown -- Never again!

I love coming here for their dim sum and late night menu. My favorite being the shomai and the chicken feet...yes, chicken feet. Late night menu offers smaller servings of the dishes you love, allowing you to order a little more than you normally would. This is great, cause I cant seem to make up my mind on what to order and I truly hate limiting it to one dish! I definitely love the seafood including the salt and pepper smelt, clams and snails. Ive never ordered anything I dont like! As for the decor, there is only one miss with their tables. Their tables have a metal bar where your legs go so you can only get so close to the table, but its just two sides of the square tables youll find this. I got an awful bruise one time so it is a sore subject :) So everytime I go there I peek under the table cloth to make sure I sit where the bar is not!
