Two adults and four teenage kids had a great meal here. A few notes that might help you with ordering: 1. The salads are very large. You never know whether a $10-12 salad will be skimpy or generous. In this case, if the salad is your main course, know that its plenty big. If you plan to order pizza too, consider splitting a salad with someone. 2. There is a nice quirky selection of draft beers. But, depending on the beer you order, your portion may be very small. If you are looking for a full pint of beer, know that some beers are served in what seemed to be roughly 8-ounce pours. 3. The kids loved the root beer. Roots apparently bottles their own. 4. The pizzas are big! The smaller pizza is described as appropriate for 1-2 people. But I think it could easily be appropriate for 3 people (especially if they are getting salads as well). The large pizza was great for the 4 kids. In all, our party of 6 ate a small and a large pizza and 2 salads. The service was nice: prompt and attentive. We were seated quickly (around 8:30 on a Thursday night), and everything was good from start to finish.

Ive been to Roots a few times and even ordered their delivery and every time was great. Im OBSESSED with the monkey bread and that insane buttery sauce that comes with it. My boyfriend and I were there the other night on the patio and as the server went to set down our delicious looking pizza, the tray slipped and it flipped completely over and directly onto my purse sitting on the chair next to me. Now, this really couldnt have happened to 2 better people because my boyfriend and I immediately burst into laughter, even though Im pretty sure the server was having a mild panic attack. The recovery time was impeccable. He completely cleaned off my purse and we had a fresh pizza within 2 minutes of the incident. The manager even personally came to the table with his card and offered to have my purse cleaned. I was so impressed with how great everyone was, there wasnt a chance I could be mad. Keep up the good work guys.

Everybody rants and raves about the mozzarella cheese sticks, for good reason, but dont sleep on the Jumbo Shrimp!!!! Im not much of a beer drinker, but on my latest visit, our server Anthony, suggested an array of midwestern beer selections and directed some of the girls I was with to wonderful selections that they all enjoyed. He guided me into trying The Gin Gin Mule and they were so tasty that I ended up having like 4 or 5 before the night was over. The pizza is okay to me, but I have friends who absolutely adore it. Its probably because Im so full with aforementioned cheese sticks and jumbo shrimp that I dont savor the pizza as they do. Overall, the service is good. The layout is great for couples or even groups with big cushy elevated booths. TVs abound, although they only put on the audio for Hawks games. Otherwise they are playing trendy music.

I love Roots! A co-worker introduced me however many years ago and went on and on about the McDowell. She kept calling it a Big Mac pizza which sounded horrible to me. Dont get me wrong, against better judgment I eat at McDonalds from time to time but a Big Mac is not my thing at all. We ended up getting a half and half because she didnt sell me on the McDowell. I dont remember what I got, I only remember her half being amazing! They have a pretty nice variety of toppings to choose from overall. Over the years Ive tried other pizzas but the McDowell is definitely my go to. Also, you probably wont be mad at yourself if you order the mozzarella sticks...theyre pretty amazing!

This is my go-to for when Im jonesing for some pizza in Chicago. The pizzas are all flavorful and unique, and they let you do half orders of the pizza when ordering a whole from any of the items on the menu. My husband and I always gravitate towards the Chicago chef specialty pizzas, and we are never disappointed. The service is great and the atmosphere is fun, although it can get pretty noisy on the weekends. They offer a great beer selection between their rotating seasonal draughts as well as an impressive bottle and can selection. In the warmer months they have ample outdoor seating which provides a great alternative.

I live about five minutes from this resturant and was really excited about trying them. I did delivery and my food was cold. I ordered a 12 inch half mushroom Cold. I also order the mozzarella sticks they would have been good if they wasnt cold. I order the lollipop wings, so hard and cold couldnt bite them. My husband said the shrimp was good it had flavor but they also was cold, but the pizza we could have made it at home. Im truly disappointed. I want to call them and complain but I will not come back. My husband and I love pizza and like trying new places, but when my daughter complained I was done.

Unique pizza with a really malty, chewy crust that I like. Unusual toppings, like a taco pizza complete with lettuce. The sausage is crumbly and fennelly and covers the whole pizza, rather than being in chunks. Its tasty. I dont really get the madness over this place though, its good and unique (at least in Chicago) but not my favorite, particularly given the higher than average price. Worth checking out, though. Watch out for the weekly "free pizza" night, if you dont get there at the right time you probably wont fill up for free.

Roots has quality pizza for a decent price. The crust outshines most other pizza places in Chicago. Unlike a lot of pizza places in the area that try so hard (and fail even harder) to mimic New York pizza, Roots does its own thing. As a result, you get nice, firm crust that doesnt leave your hands all greasy with toppings falling all over your plate. Their original pizza concoctions are all pretty delicious, with the veggie being a standout. I would definitely recommend Roots to those of you seeking out some tasty pizza.

Overpriced, confused, and cold. By the time I finally got my pizza, it was barely warm. The girl that took my order over the phone had to call me back 30 minutes after I placed my order only to promptly put me on hold while they tried to confirm my address. They literally are located less than a five minute drive from me and there is no excuse for the cold pizza. To top things off, the total I was given over the phone was different than the amount that was charged to my credit card. P.S. the sausage is horrible.

I love the cheese at this place. I like it when they fry it. I like it when they put it on pizza. I like it when they put it on magical salads. The garden pizza is really surprisingly good. Really simple ingredients so Im not sure what makes it unique, maybe its the sauce. Tasty, tasty crust. The salads are very unique too. It is possible to eat a relatively healthy meal here. Great place to eat outside in the summer. I only gave it a 4 bc It just seems a little pricey for fancy pizza.

They have fantastic salads and really tasty curly fries. My love affair with their food ends there. Order the beet salad and any beer and youll be delighted. Im not sure what the appeal of their soggy ass pizza is though. Even the BBQ kind (complete with Lillies Q meat) manages to be soggified in the center. Dont even question the veggie. For the cost (very high), Id at least expect a quality product. Des Moines style pizza can stay in Des Moines. Like I said, Beet Salad.
