First, I must say that this may have been my first foray into classic Chicago style deep dish pizza. I dont recall ever having eaten it before. This was definitely my first time at Pizzeria Due. The service was good and very friendly. We didnt have to wait for a table on a busy Saturday evening as we agreed to be seated upstairs on their patio - when it was 37 degrees out. However, the patio is enclosed and heated, so it was comfortable. We had one problem which did not impact my rating, though it would for most people. Our main dishes (pizza) took well over an hour from when we ordered until we received them. It took so long, in fact, that the manager comped us the cost of the pizzas. We also ordered garlic bread with cheese and that arrived quickly, it was also quite tasty. The reason for my rating is simply the taste of the pizza itself. I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza and I can honestly say this was the worst pizza Ive ever eaten in my life. The overwhelming flavor is yeast. It drowns out all other flavors and then, just for good measure, buries those other flavors in a shallow grave. CiCis pizza is better. Elementary school cafeteria pizza is better. Cheap frozen pizza is better. Three day old dried out pizza is better. Apparently Chicago style deep dish pizza is not even close to my taste. There are plenty of other people who enjoy this pizza, my wife included. But if youve never eaten this style of pizza, buyer beware. I would not eat this pizza again even if it were free.

This place has rats . My boyfriend and myself watched one run across the dining area floor . The manager tried to make it sound like it was normal to have rats because its the city. If the city health inspector seen that , they would shut you down . Its not difficult to get some traps to catch them and Stop keeping the front door wide open to the restaurant , youre welcoming rats that carry diseases to be around people and food . If a child seen a rat run across the floor they would scream and cause a scene and this establishment would lose business . The servers are awesome and the pizza was difficult to eat because the crust was so hard I could barely cut it with a knife . The manager was nice enough to give our food for free, after our server asked her for it , but only after us explaining to her that having rats in a food establishment is NOT normal. Rats belong outside . My boyfriend and I are still amused that she thought it was ok to have rats around children and customers and FOOD. Our server devante was super cool and attentive , so we definitely rewarded him for his amazing service .

I represent just the average tourist who visits Chicago once in a while and hears all the chatter about Chicago style pizza. My daughter and I decided to eat at Giordanos but gave up on that idea when we saw a 2 hour wait. We decided to hit Pizzeria Due instead which is a 4 minute walk from Giordanos. The wait was only 30 minutes and the hostess took our pizza order first while we waited for a table in an effort to speed things along. When we did get our seat(right at 30 minutes), we discovered that the restaurant had lost our order so we started all over. We also ordered an appetizer. Drinks took 20 minutes to be delivered and the appetizer never showed up. The pizza was just ok - nothing to get excited about. In fact, I have had better out of the supermarket freezer. Crust has the texture of a cookie and extremely bland. I ordered pepperoni and black olives. We counted the number of pieces of pepperoni and there was exactly 6! I would give the pizza a 2/3 stars out of 5 and the service 2 out of 5. I hope your experience goes better than ours.

The first time I visited this place, it was recommended by a maître d at hotel downtown about 4 years ago. At that time it was a Saturday evening in the summer. I was determined to try this epic Chicago pizza. Every pizza place downtown had close to a 2 hour wait for only 2 people. This maître d said to try Pizzeria Due, its a shorter wait, and still has great pizza. That man changed my life. It was truly fantastic pizza. Being originally from the East Coast, the establishment reminded me of a hideaway in New York City or the Cheers bar, right in the middle of upscale downtown Chicago. Since then, whenever my family or closest friends visit, this place is a must. As long as you like deep dish you will enjoy the delicious crust and the sauce is impeccable, you can get notes of the wine in the sauce. This is a place I only take special people in my life. Its a great spot and I recommend it to everyone.

Fans of deep dish pizza must try this pizza at least once in their lifetime. I have never been able to leave without taking home a to-go box. The ingredients are fresh and delicious...really stringy cheese. My favorite is the BBQ chicken pizza. The crust is what really sets this apart from most pizza...it tastes like pie crust...almost sweet and very good. The cons are the long-ish wait times when its busy and Im not a fan of the small spaces....even the dining area can get pretty crowded. I do like how they take your order when they put your name down for a table, but it also makes for some confusion when its your first time there and there are a lot of people waiting. If the place was bigger, I would give it 5 stars. Definitely recommend this place, regardless.

I grew up in the chicago area and my wife and I both love stuffed crust pizza. My favorite place in chicago thus far is giordanos. A friend had heard the original unos in downtown chitown was good, so we decided to give it a try during our recent trip. It may be that we just dont like deep dish (since we normally get stuffed crust), but we didnt really care for the pizza we ordered. We got the unos classic and the spinoccoli pizza. It wasnt horrible; it was just eh; It didnt blow us away like giordanos normally does. Service at unos was fine -- we had a very nice waiter and it had a great atmosphere. We were just disappointed by the tastiness of the pizza. But maybe the 20 mph winds off the lake had killed our tastebuds.

I really loved the food but the service we received was absolutely terrible! Kendra H forgot our entire order. Sat for 40 minutes with nothing to drink, had to cancel my wine. She then dropped our pizza and told us our garlic bread is traditionally served after the pizza when we asked where it was. After searching for our server we had to ask the hostess to cancel our bread and get the bill. Our server then continued to bring the bread after we cancelled the order and had asked for the bill 3 times. The hostess checked on us more than our server. Would have loved to experienced this place like everyone else, with what was expected to be "superb" service. Very unfortunate.

Great service! Me and my friend came in without reservations, and the wait would be aprox. 40 minutes. The great thing was that they had us order the pizzas beforehand, since they take around 45 minutes to cook, they would be ready for us when a table was available. Also, the girl at the front desk advised us to order a small pizza and do each half with different toppings rather than order two individual pizzas, as that would be more expensive. The pizza tasted amazing! I have no complaints about the food what so ever. The only negative feedback I have is that the restaurant was pretty tiny, so you had to be carefu not to knock anything over when putting on yout coat...
