I’ve been wanting to stop here for breakfast for quite some time. I am glad that I waited to a week day to make a trip here, because the restaurant is quite small. It seems as though it would be an outrageous wait on the weekend. That said, it wasn’t that busy when I got there and I was seated immediately. The place is cash only which is kind of annoying but I didn’t mind too much. I thought the food was fantastic. I ended up trying the pancake stuffed with bacon and topped with mushrooms and gruyere cheese. The addition of the syrup made for a very delightful sweet and savory treat. I am usually not one for pancakes. I usually get tired of the flavor after just a few bites but this was exceptional. The pancake itself is massive yet thin so it yields the perfect amount of food to keep you full without making you feel lethargic because you consumed too much.

This was my first time having a Pannenkoeken (like the baby of a pancake and crepe). I was craving something savory so I went with the sausage and havarti cheese (added mushrooms) pannenkoeken and iced coffee. It was a really good texture (simultaneously fluffy and crispy) with a lot of flavor. Id love to try the sweet options next time. The apple pannenkoeken sounded delicious, along with the challah bread french toast. Only drawbacks: it is super small (probably seating capacity for six or seven parties) and cash only.

Pannenkoeken provides delicious sweet and savory Dutch style pancakes with incredible personal service and at a good price. The servers and kitchen are very kid friendly. The space is pretty small, so if your kid is the results sort then you might feel a little claustrophobic in there. This place is small and cash only so if you come unprepared for those realities, it can be frustrating. My advice to you is: plan accordingly, arrive early and enjoy some incredible pancakes.

My husband and I came here for the first time last year and were not dissappointed! Its a very small space, so we were lucky to have gotten there early as people started to line up soon after opening. The pancakes are plate size with many toppings to choose from and the coffee was excellent as well. The cafe is very intimate and the service is wonderfully friendly. I cant wait to come back next month!

We try to eat here everytime we are in Chicago. We always have a party of 4 and the place is very small inside (3 party of 4 tables, 4 party of 2 tables). So depending on the situation we can either wait 15min or almost 2 hrs like we did on Sunday. It is just a matter of lucky timing but we still love to come eat here even with a chance of that long a wait. The food and service really makes it enjoyable.

Nice breakfast spot. Go early or late as there can be a wait. Not much seating outside. The restaurant is small and a little packed, so best leave the stroller and toys outside. You will get to know your neighbors a little bit. The food is very good. The selection is small, but most likely you are there for the pannenkoeken anyway. If you do stray away, the omelettes are up to comparison IMO.

Its not just the incredibly tiny size of this establishment. The worst is that your wait on the weekends maybe 2 hours (from putting your name on the waiting list to you eating your first bite). The food is nice, obviously you want to try the Dutch pancakes. Unless it gets spoiled by the fellow at the neighbor table who doesnt know where to put his elbow and it ends up on your table.

Ive gotten the traditional pannekoek and the thick challah french toast and I am going back for more. This restaurant is a very tiny enclosure (hole in a wall?) that serves up great breakfast foods. The hours are very breakfast-centric and the entire menu is breakfast, but dont let that stop you from eating at this great cafe. The food is superb, but the small room docked it points.

Wow wow wow. An absolute must to go to! Very very very tiny inside, but what a fantastic experience and meal. Service was great, knowledgeable of the menu and will help you decide. I was delighted and will absolutely be returning to bring as many friends as possible. Reasonable price for the quantity and quality of food too.

Im from the Netherlands and was happily surprised to find a little bit of home here in Chicago. The pannenkoek was very good, and they even had authentic Dutch "stroop" (sirup). Very tasty! The place is small, but that serves only to improve the atmosphere. Try their fresh made orange juice!

While the prospect of a "savory pannenkoeken" made me leery at first, I was so glad I tried it. The food was excellent and the coffee was extremely good as well. They are a cash-only place, so keep that in mind when you come. But dont let that deter you, as you wont regret coming here.

Wonderful, cozy breakfast and brunch spot. Service is always personal, fast and kind. Whether you visit as a single diner, with friends or with family, you will feel like you belong and have a delicious meal at Pannenkoeken. Ability to pronounce Pannenkoeken is not required.

This cute little cafe is a great place for breakfast. The staff is super friendly and theyve got great selections of some healthy breakfasts. Strollers are not welcome since its so small inside and its cash only. Other than that, it was a very enjoyable experience.

WORST food service I;ve had because they were highly disregarding as if my party and I werent existing and people who arrived after us received there meal before we did! VERY DISAPPOINTING..DO NOT RECOMMEND..unless you want to feel racially profiled and ignored.

Tiny little spot with great blueberry mascarpone French toast. Wonderful coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. Keep in mind there will probably be a wait list but theres lots of stuff just around the corner to explore while you wait for deliciousness.

The customer service was amazing! Arrived around 1:45pm & the waitress still sat us and had a smile on her face the whole time! We felt bad for arriving so close to closing time but she made sure we felt welcome. Definitely a new favorite.

Best breakfast Ive had in Chicago. Very small restaurant, seats about 20. Food is great with a nice variety. Staff is nice and parking is OK. Ive been here many times and its always awesome. Weekend wait times can be really long though.

Tiny restaurant offering delicious Dutch pancakes, omelettes, French toast, and other goodies along with fresh fruits and locally-roasted coffee. Get there early on weekends, or be prepared to wait... though its worth the wait!

One of my favorite places of all time! Ive never had a bad meal here. Super long wait usually, especially if there is more than two people eating. Not the best for big groups. Very small sitting area. So worth it though.

The food was great and the portions were filling. This place is tiny, only about 8 tables, so you may want to call before going to see if there is a wait. We went before noon on Saturday and got right in.

Unique pancake place. Giant flat Dutch pancakes. Great quality food. It is very small, so expect to wait, but its worth checking out. Cash only, I believe. The orange juice, while pricey, is worth it.
