I wanted the half sandwich/small soup combo, just told the man I didnt want the pop. He then proceeded to charge me for a half sandwich and small soup, and when i questioned him on that (seeing as it was a $1 more than the deal), I said your deal is 8.99 but he said its correct. I went back to the ordering line and asked if it was more based on the sandwich you get. She said no and then the guy ringing up yelled across to me "SWEETIE I ASKED YOU IF YOU WANTED THE DEAL!". First of all, nobody should ever be yelling at me from across the room. Second, clearly i was confused...I didnt realize that i would be charged $1 more if I didnt take the damn pop. So how about you explain that to me...I didnt want the pop, but I could have just taken it and given it to someone else vs being charged more. MOST places will take $0.30-$0.40 cents off...but whatever. Also, I find it a little unnerving to call all female patrons sweetie. You are not my family, friend, or even an acquaintance.

I ordered the Baja. Its advertised to have Swiss cheese separated by carrots, avocado, sprouts, cucumbers, roasted red peppers, green peppers, onions, shredded lettuce, tomatoes and mayo served on multi-grain bread. Its seriously had dried up lettuce, lots of shredded carrots, one slice of tomato and two slices of cucumbers. No cheese, no sprouts, no avocado, no onions, no bell peppers, NOTHING. I asked the girl behind the counter if she had the sprouts as thats PURELY why I ordered it (Im pregnant) and she said she had none. Well they should have told me they didnt have half the things they needed for the sandwichin the first place and I would have ordered something else. Didnt even offer me to get something else instead after I got literally a shredded carrot sandwich. Waste of my money!!! NEVER AGAIN!! First and last time I even step foot in there.

Bought the Avocado sandwich, came with one tiny slice of Avocado. Half of the ingredients that were supposed to come on the sandwich was missing. I decided to come back for a second time. This time it was way before lunch to ensure I get a proper sandwich prepared...nope. Again the sandwich was dry, bacon was supposed to come on this sandwich and it was NOT there..NEVER going back to this place, and the sad part is I work in the same building as the restaurant :( nope

I had "The Mermaid" which is essentially an Albacore Tuna Sandwich. They put a thick slice of Tomato, lettuce, and a slice of cheddar to boot... all on this fantastic bread. Im not sure this is what mermaids eat, but if they do, then I was cursed to be born a human. The sandwich is fresh and delicious. It was also served up in about 1-2 minutes, depending on the line. Even though it is at least double the price of the McDonalds across the way, it is worth it.

Just had my final visit to this place...every option around them had lunchtime lines out the door, not this place...not a single customer and heres why...$8.20 for a processed turkey sandwich. Nope...never again! Classic case of a business passing on their exorbitant rent to the customer but not changing with the times...Bye Halsted, you used to be really solid.

Most sandwiches here are available in two sizes: regular or large. I ordered a regular pastrami sandwich for $7 after tax. This is half a sandwich, not a "regular" sandwich. The meat was delicious, but not the bread. The owner needs to revise the signage to be less ambiguous and please use better sandwich bread

This place is not cheap about the amount of stuff they put on a sandwich. Great portions for the price. It is your standard deli nothing over the top special that you should go for. That being said theres no reason not to go here either. If you are really hungry try the triple decker. Good eats.
