Visited for the last time today!!! The food is pretty good (but very salty), but the service is extremely sketchy! They overcharge and when you call them on it they say "oops! Im sorry!" as if it was simply an oversight. They accidentally "forget" to put the side salad that comes with your sandwich and say "oops! Im sorry!". Pay them with a $20 bill and they give you change for a $10? Yep, you guessed it...got an "oops! Im sorry!" The first few times I got the "ooops" excuse, I genuinely thought that they were making honest mistakes. But every single time I go in there?!! I think they are trying to cheat their customers. Also, recently NYC Bagels advertised a 2-day bagel/sandwich deal on Fox Chicago News that they conveniently did not honor for both days...just the first day and it was an extreme struggle to get them to honor that!!! DONE!!! Take your money somewhere that appreciates their customers and does not try to cheat them.

I know, I know....youre thinking, "Youre still eating carbs?" And I answer a big fat "Yes!" Well, at least on occasion. Holding true to the name, this is by far the best bagel Ive had in Chicago (and I love me some NY bagels). Small on space but big on taste is probably the best description for this little deli. But, if you decide to stay and eat, you might be lucky enough to grab one of the few seats outside. A bit on the pricey side for a deli, but you definitely get what you pay for. I typically get a turkey sandwich (they use Boars Head meat and cheese exclusively) of which I think they pile about 1/3 to 1/2 lb of meat per bagel! Ive never had bad or soggy veggies, either. The splurge for lox has tapped my shoulder once or twice as well - still awesome. Oh yeah, they whip up their own flavored cream cheeses. (Can it get any better?)

Very good bagels. Very confusing inside layout. Theres a small bar that probably allows 4 people in total to stand at it (2 on each side) and then there are two small tables that seat 2 people each. People will sit there and eat their food for what seems to be forever while you glare at them, waiting. Dont: get the sandwich on croissant, just because theyre very small portions. Meat is good and it tastes healthy, but youre at a bagel shop so get the damn bagel instead! (at least a sandwich on a bagel) Bagels: boiled, not steamed(!) and have a nice chewy exterior and soft interior. The eggwich bagel was excellent. Bagel with cream cheese was a bit heavy on the cream cheese, but thats no strike against them because its fairly easy to remove it.

Recently I placed a somewhat large order and caught them overcharging for numerous items and to top it off, the food wasnt even very good for the price they were charging. One item, the gefiltefish, was discolored on the ends and clearly past its date - we had to throw it out before dinner. The chopped liver - close to the worst Ive had. The whitefish salad - way too salty and for the price(!!) there are so many other places.... And unbelievably, the bagels seemed stale even though I picked them up at noon!?! The Nova was excellent, though and they did throw in an extra bagel but it didnt make up for feeling like they were trying to pull one over on me. Hope you have a better experience.... just pay attention when they ring you up.

Top three bagels in Chicago next to CBA and Craft Pizza. There is a lot to choose from here and I will need go back to try more. I went here and had one of their breakfast sandwiches. It was very tasty and the bagel was perfect. The other three people I was with thoroughly enjoyed their food too. They have a deli in here to take some deli meat home and they also have cream cheese to take home. Price are pretty good when comparing to CBA. The employees here are lots of fun too! They bring some great entertainment while you are there eating.

Favorite bagel deli in Chicago ~ fresh, boiled bagels like you get out east! Great selection of Boars Heads Meats & Cheese. Big fan of their Egg Salad sandwich, and their bacon, egg & cheese breakfast sandwich is a weekend staple. And thankfully, they just made the switch to Intelligentsia coffee. Total morning perfection from beans to bagel!

Being originally from NY I wasnt sure how the food was going to stack up. I was suprised at how good it actually tasted. The bagels arent too doughy (which people have become so accustomed to) and the flavor is fantastic. Definitely make the trip to get a great bagel sandwich. The breakfast sandwiches are my personal favorite.

Quite possibly the best bagels in Chicago. Crispy on the outside & soft on the inside. They use Boars Head on their sandwiches, have Dr. Browns Black Cherry & when you tip them they scream for joy! What else do you want in a bagel joint? Tip: Try not to park in that hellish lot & find a spot nearby on the side streets.

Every time I goto Chicago I pick up some genuine NYC bagels here. It is hard to find bagels that have been actually boiled before baking in the rest of Illinois. Their bagels are delicious and freeze very well. The staff is also very friendly and throws in free bagels sometimes if you are nice :)

Must say the bagels here are pretty good. The size is good, not massive but not small like Einsteins. Love the cream cheese and lox bagel, has to be my favorite. The selection of bagels is great along with the different kinds of shmears. Definitely recommend this place.

Bagels are fresh and the cream cheese is mixed with real ingredients. Makes for a fresh and tasty bite on the go. They offer a variety of bagel creations as well as basic bagel n cream cheese. Also offer a variety of salads like chicken salad and etc.

BEST BAGELS IN CHICAGO. As a NYC transplant, I can attest that these are the best NY style bagels in Chicago. Dont waste your money on Einsteins or other imitators. If youve never tried it, give the salt bagels and the whitefish salad a try.

Small shop, but great bagels! I got the Nova Lox bagel and would recommend it. Potato salad side was really good, and the bagel also came with a very large pickle slice. A bit on the expensive side, but I would probably come back.
