Buyer Beware of being overcharged! My friends and I were visiting Chicago for a conference. The only guy working there used "Raymond" as the cashier name on my receipt. He was friendly enough, even asked my friend how long she had been married... He charged me $10.79 on my credit card for a coffee and what turned out to be a mediocre soggy sandwich, and handed me a receipt which said I paid in cash. I received my regular notification each time my Chase card is used, and only later noticed he charged me $11.19. Since being overcharged has not happened to me before, I checked my friends receipt. She had also been overcharged. We called Chase. They told us to wait until the official charge had been posted. When $11.19 indeed showed up on my approved transactions, I called Chase back and after 30 minutes on the phone, I got 40 cents credited and the supervisor to post a notification to VISA to "monitor" this vendor for a pattern. Im pretty darn sure he did it on purpose. He may even be the owner. Bad guys like this can only be penalized, it seems, if more people speak up even if its over a few cents. It is not right.

Great store with grocery items and deli as well as some products youll have a hard time finding elsewhere, like Mr. Q sparkling cucumber water and real sugar Coke and Pepsi. Youll also find alkaline waters and gluten free products. I just had a great coffee that was roasted here in Chicago. Its a one minute walk from the Chicago South Loop Hotel, which is how I found it.

Great customer service. Fresh deli with an impressive menu of BoarHead meat and veggie sandwiches. With an eclectic variety of gourmet treats, standard grocery items and beautiful fresh produce, De Michaels is a tresure. Go sit in the glass window dining/sitting area and enjoy the view, television or just relax into the quiet. This place is a hidden gem.

The food is of excellent quality and the owner is extremely pleasant. Theres a wonderful selection of beverages, snacks and grocery items that you wouldnt expect to find. Overall, both times Ive visited, I have been very satisfied with my purchases.
