My friend took me here for a birthday lunch and we opted for the prix fixe menu. What a great choice! We ordered the buffala and braised short rib with polenta for our first course, grilled calamari and pappardelle bolognese for our mains, and tiramisu and carrot cake for our desserts. I was hoping there would be more cheese in the buffala, but the overwhelming flavor is the prosciutto, which isnt a bad thing for most people. The buffala was my friends favorite dish. I loved the braised short rib because I love polenta, and because the short ribs were so tender and flavorful. The pappardelle was delicious, but I would definitely not recommend the calamari--- it tasted a bit burnt and Ive had better calamari. The tiramisu was freaking delicious and I gobbled it up! Service was great, very attentive and nice. Definitely a great dining spot. Im looking forward to their new Aperitivo program as well!

I thought the food was good for the most part. I started with the minestrone - one of the best minestones Ive had - followed by the vegetable omelette. The Parmesan potatoes that came with the omelette were ok, nothing special, and the English muffin was somewhat burnt. The main issue I had was with the wait time for food and server to come by. We sat for about 10 minutes before anyone even said anything to us. It took 25 minutes to get a bowl of soup and then another 25-30 minutes after that to get our main dishes - omelette, pancakes, and a sandwich. My table also had to ask for the check 3 times before we could get it. I cant say that I wouldnt go back because that soup was so good, but it definitely wouldnt be my first choice due to the service.

This restaurant on the southern boundary of the loop offers speedy lunchtime service with the feel of a slow-food restaurant. While this is definitely good marketing towards the crowd they tend to attract based on their location, I was so impressed by the no-nonsense approach of the kind staff and the perfectly cooked food delivered in a flash by the kitchen, that I wouldnt hesitate to return for dinner before a show as well as for a future lunch. I ordered the salmon, which arrived perfectly warm and cooked just right, with the slightest, crispy brown pan sear at the very edges of the delicate flesh. Simple, unfussy menu (which has been cleverly designed to make reading through and choosing easy), with something for everyone.

The food here was delicious!!! I was in Chicago for 2 nights and ate at this restaurant both nights. Food, dessert, ambiance, drinks, all that was delicious! (a bit pricey but worth it)... The only major fluff was customer service. Once the waiter has served your food, its sort of hard to really catch up with him again. Its sort of like he forgets your even there even though hell walk directly past you. I had a hard time trying to get my waiters attention even just to get my check because he never came to my table and when he walked by he wouldnt speak. Other than that, I really enjoyed and would eat there again.

For dinner, I asked for a quiet spot and upstairs and they gave me right next to the kitchen! Why couldnt they open upstairs! The table was too high and impossible to move, so I couldnt use my phone on my lap or on the table. The portion size and what was included with the salmon were pitiful. This is not a two $ restaurant! The menu didnt match what they had online. The salesman, I mean waiter didnt speak English and patronized me when I ask him to repeat. I had lunch here a year ago and it was great. Got to sit in the quiet upstairs.

The location is right downtown, close to the river. The inside is really nice and I like the two story feel, especially with the private dining area available for more intimate groups. However, I didnt like that the menu was different in person as compared to online. I also was disappointed in my food. I ordered a salad which was an utter waste of money and my tortelloni was drowning in oil. The decor and atmosphere was good, but the food left me wanting much more...

A little expensive but I took my girlfriend here before going to the theater next door. It was a great location and the staff was really friendly and helpful with suggestions. The wine was great and the food was amazing. They had a three course special while we were there which was amazing because we split just about everything. The short ribs were fantastic as well as the pork chop. The cheese cake was as expected but it was a convenient stop before the show.

I had plans to go out to dinner with a friend, and her boss always came here, so we figured wed try it out. We heard the name and thought "beer..casual restaurant". We were very surprised by the $20-28 entrees. But I was also pleasantly surprised that the portions were not tiny. We had an appetizer for $11, and I had the daily Rissotto which was amazing. Service was excellent. Never once felt rushed, nor did we feel it was slow.

My company often takes out of town guests & clients here for lunches/dinners, and i wanted somewhere nice to take my mom for an early birthday lunch, so I made reservations yesterday afternoon. Awesome choice! The host knew it was my moms birthday (via open table) and promptly wished her a happy birthday upon our arrival. Service was excellent (and fast) a bit pricey but worth it. They even remembered to put a candle on our dessert.

While the food was good, my husband I waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken. We spent over an hour at 312 Chicago, and our drinks were not refilled (we had to ask for drinks because our waiter didnt ask us if we wanted one) and we were interacted with by our waiter once (besides taking our order). Overall, we were extremely unhappy with our service. The food was not good enough to make us return when we are in town next.

I went to 312 Chicago for a very nice lunch today with a group. All of us loved our wonderful Italian dishes. Our server Joey was great he was very personable. We had a person in our group celebrating their birthday today and received a nice dessert at the end of the meal. I had a wonderful seafood dish with squid ink fettuccine noodles. I look forward to coming back here again and hopefully very soon!

I brought my kids and wife to this restaurant before a theater performance. The restaurant itself was luxurious, with nice lighting, comfortable chairs, and nicely set tables. The food was very good. Overall, the experience was pleasent. The reason I rated it four stars is because they brought out ice cream sundaes for the kids without telling me. Too sugary!

312 burger is amazing. I actually got lost and went to 312 w chicago. Took a cab back finally realizing I was lost. I was super hungry when I reached the place. Service was quick for a weekday 12:00.. Fresh bread and olive oil came first. Then the burger. Decent sized but tasted like heaven. The meat was perfectly cooked. Will gladly recommend

This place is an excellent after work or business meeting restaurant. Fun fact: This restaurant was where Jesse Jackson Junior allegedly tried to buy Obamas Senate Seat! The atmosphere truly feels like there would be back room deals made at tables in the corner with their delicious scotch selection. I recommend appetizers at the bar.
