I have worked in Evanston for a year and this WAS my favorite place that I ordered from at times once a week sometimes more! Until TODAY!!! I order the same dish all of the time... Rigatoni Ricotta. If I dine in I must say the lunch special for the Rigatoni Ricotta is pretty good it is just a little small of a size. For some reason every time I order the same dish to go, which is double the price, it is always really dry and the noodles taste under cooked. Today I finally called the manager and told him and the response I got was do I want to pick up some sauce. Now, please keep in mind, this dish is a baked dish: sauce, noodles, cheeses, etc. When I asked isnt the sauce supposed to be baked with the pasta, as we all know this does make a difference in taste, he said yes. Which in return my response was than "NO" I do not want to pick up sauce (I would have ordered spaghetti). He than said well let me ask my cooks. He came back on the line and told me they put the same amount of sauce they always put. I then said well than I just will not be ordering this dish ever again, his response was okay thank you have a nice day. I just spent $14 on a lunch that is not going to be eaten my day is not good anymore and I will never go back there. In regards to decorations for this establishment, this is a very small restaurant that the seats are a little too close for comfort. If you want an afternoon snack at a high price for such I recommend this location. If you would like a dinner size for dining in or to go save your money and time! Very upset customer! I will gladly bring my business to other restaurants in the area, there are plenty that will not ignore a customer and will value their loyal customers!

Trattoria Demi is a small restaurant great for a date. After trying most (if not all) of the Italian restaurants in the Evanston area, this one has not only the best food, but the best bang for your buck. Everything Ive had there has been delicious from the appetizers to desserts, and the portions are generous too. In fact, if you get the baked ziti, get it to share with your date and then order dessert - youll be plenty full.

I dont get the negative reviews for this place. I guess most of them are a few years old - maybe the place has improved since then. Because this is our favorite restaurant in the neighborhood! Its reasonably priced, it has a relaxed environment, and we always find the service perfectly friendly and efficient. Food is always served piping hot, which is a nice change from most places. We always leave happy.

Average/Good pizza, waitress with attitude.The pizza was pretty good..it is thin and crispy. I prefer thin and a little less crispy (like trattoria Doc- best italian pizza in town!) but the waitress had an attitude. If she was nicer I would probably come back, but I dont think I will because it put a little damper on the evening. Never tried the other options, but other peoples plates looked pretty good.

This place was expensive and the pasta lackluster. The pasta with tomato cream sauce tasted like spagettios - actually, worse than! Also, the dinner entrees were brought out three minutes after our salad came out - and when we asked if the pasta could be held, the server said no made no attempt to remedy the situation. Needless to say, will not be wasting any further meals on this restaurant.

We love this place so much we actually had our wedding and reception lunch at Trattoria Demi! The food and atmosphere are phenomenal, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. For our wedding, they were extremely accommodating and provided all kinds of support. We and our guests loved it! We highly recommend Trattoria Demi!

I like this place well enough for the occasional lunch but it is boring overall. The only thing remarkable on the menu is the meatball sandwich which is just ridiculously large. My biggest problem is the kitchen can be extremely slow if it gets even least bit busy which is why I havent been visiting as much as I once did.

Ive been ordering take out from this restaurant for a long time but recently Ive noticed a drop in quality. I ordered a chicken dish recently and the chicken was way over cooked, almost like jerky. Also smaller portions and different bread. Too bad, they were always quite good.

Their appetizers and desserts are amazing but not really fond of their entrees. Very small and intimate place and I would say good for dates. Parking can be a little tough but overall a great place and would come again! Show owner comment »

Linguini with clams consisted of overcooked pasta with extraneous bits of lasagna noodles. There were 3 actual clams in the pasta; the rest tasted as if they came from a can. Basically, mushy, salty, and bland.
