Terrible service, perhaps the staff thought my girlfriend and I were not "paying customers". Upon arriving we were asked if we had reservations because the 4 out of 40 tables were taken so they must of been terribly busy. We got seated outside at our request. Then, waited 20 mins for the waiter to bring water, another 20 mins for a glass of wine and after another 20 mins we finally had the chance to order an app. After 30 mins waiting for the "polenta" app (that takes 10mins to cook) we had enough and walked out. So, we sat outside for an hour and a half for a glass of wine and for the waiter to be very inattentive. Oh, but the nice older couple dressed nicely enjoyed very quick service and received their drinks, appetizer and salad before we had our appetizer. Terrible that they treated us (we were dressed a little more casual than then the average table) like we some punk kids. Never again.

Sofi is Northern Italian, which means lighter dishes that your typical Chicago Italian restaurant like youd find in the Heart of Chicago, Taylor St, River North or at Tutto Italiano around the corner. Its a quiet place in Printers Row with a staff of people who are very friendly and know the wines and food they serve. Ive always had great wine recommendations from the staff and the food is excellent. A couple times I thought the portions were a bit small as the meal arrived at the table, but Ive never left hungry so the portions are just right for this 230lb man. Its a hidden gem (sorry to use such a cliché) on the south side, close to the Loop, plus in the summer there is outdoor seating.

I wish Sofi were better, since we lived so close, but its reach exceeds its grasp. I appreciate the huge menu, and the the additional daily specials which almost always contain something out of the ordinary. But, at every visit, there is always one or two dishes that miss the mark. Tonight it was the farfalle with duck ragu that had almost no duck in it. The service is relaxed - sometimes inattentive. Its our neighborhood Italian place, and you can get a good meal if you order carefully- but watch out for the too frequent misses.

Ordered linguini white wine clam sauce but got spaghetti (which is default on menu) ... decided to keep it and it was competent with great sauce/seasoning but would have been better if the order was right. Tirama Su was excellent. Recommended Pinot Grigio also good. Service attentive but not pushy/hovering. Quick turnaround from order to table. If this place was in Denver, would eat there every week as they have lots of menu options to explore. A new Chicago fave for sure. 4 stars

Adorable little restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing (Ive been here 3 times, had something different every time, and loved it all. And you can get half orders of the pasta, which is very convenient!). The waitstaff is friendly and doesnt rush you. We just went before the ballet and let them know that we needed to be out within an hour, and they were great about promptly serving us. I recommend this to anyone looking for a quality, authentic Italian meal.

Great place, recommend it! Leek and mushroom soup was very good. Spaghetti with clams in white wine sauce with garlic was excellent. Not too much sauce, could taste the pasta, which was great, along with the clams. Panna Cota for dessert was creamy and sweet, loved it. And their bread was very fresh and good. Nice atmosphere and friendly attentive staff.

This syne first time my wife and I have been to Chicago and this place made our visit perfect. Great food I would recommend to anyone. But the best part was our pleasant waiter Richard aka Bove. He was very professional and knowledgeable and made us feel at home in this city! Thanks you! Will stop by next time we are here.

The service was outstanding, from the kindhearted server to the attentive waitstaff.. I was floored with the ambiance, service, and food. I had the lobster ravioli... Maybe the best Ive ever had. The sauce was to die for. Not over priced at all. If you are in Chicago, I definitely recommend going.

Amazing place, always seems not busy. Incredibly professional and knowledgeable staff. Only complaint is the god awful 90s pop they were playing. It might just be me, but somehow Backstreet Boys, Garth brooks and sugar ray just dont seem to add much to northern Italian cuisine

A friendly, delicious place to bring friends and family! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is attentive but not pushy, and the food is classic regional Italian with a few well-chosen surprises thrown in. Definitely a great choice for a night out on the town!

The price was good for the food, even in Chicago. The server was friendly and helpful. The pasta I ordered has a nice sauce and the bread served as an appetizer was fresh. Portions arent too big. If youre not to hungry get a half meal.
