Ive eaten at here a few times. The issue is every time Ive ordered for pick up something has been incorrect! Either the entire order was wrong or something wasnt right. I understand this happens from time to time but not to the point where I pretty much expect an error to be made. When trying to call or get in touch with someone for help I almost always have to call multiple times or told to call back the next day to speak to someone else, make return trips and to top it off, the request to bring the food back (even the next day) is just beyond me. When expressing my concern or what was displeasing to me regarding the meal, Im met with excuses and displaced blame. The only offer in resolution is a free rib with my next order ... I really dont see myself eating or ordering from here ever again. I value quality. I understand the service industry, especially food service and I am certain a customer, a repeat customer , shouldnt feel devalued this way.

I was thinking Italian food, but I didnt want to wait in the long lines at 6pm on a nice Sunday afternoon. I had drove by Old South BBQ and decided to go back and have dinner. Ive not eaten there in over 6 years. The current Zagat rating sticker on the front door offered a false sense of reassurance in my deccission. Service was slow considering there were only 3 tables and two of us had not had our order taken yet. I ordered something very simple. Pulled pork and fries. There may have been 5 small pieces of actual meat. The rest was the outer crust which is tough and hard. 95% of the pulled pork was just crust. $12 for that and a fountain drink. What a shame. I guess they keep the actual pulled pork for their self. I wont be back. I left still feeling hungry and disappointed. This will encourage me to be more vocal the next time when I order something that it is not.

As soon as I walked through the door, I was greeted with the most loving hug of appreciation! I mean for a moment I thought the woman may have thought I was someone else (lol) and then I began to assess the restaurant and was like, "nah..that hug was for me!" Its a quaint mom and pop BBQ place where they treat you like family! I ordered the junior plate of chopped pork bbq, with fried okra and franks and beans as my two sides. My honest opinion is that the bbq was a bit dry and the okra could have been fried a bit crisper but the frank and beans were tasty! The frank (hotdog) in the beans could have been a bit more charred but I think these are all just personal preferences of mine. The sweet & hot bbq sauce was a good match for my pork. Not sure if I will return but I sure did enjoy my first time at Old South Bar-B-Q!

Today I was very hungry. So I decided to get BBQ at Old South. I ordered the chicken plate with bbq beans and slaw. I also ordered a cheeseburger to eat later. I also had mild bbq that looked like tomato paste, not tasty at all. The employee that assisted me was very nice, unfortunatly the food was not good. The chicken tasted ok and that is being nice. It had no flavor or seasoning on it, it was moist though. The slaw and bbq beans were not good either. T The burger is one of those store bought perfectly round burger patties. It was average. On a posiitive note the they do give you a nice amount of food for your money. This restaurant is very close to my house, but I will be driving outside of Smyrna to get some bbq.

I have been going to Old South since I was a little kid. That should tell you something since I still frequent there. First and foremost the ladies at Old South are the best. Everyone that enters is greeted with a smile and a hug! I am a bbq afficanado from eating it all my life throughout the U.S. and spent the last 30 years trying to perfect my own techniques and these ladies do it right. If you are looking for traditional southern bbq and not some fancy off the wall attempt to be called bbq go see the ladies at old south you will not be disappointed, and youll feel the love as soon as you walk in the door! Im new to the Smyrna/Marietta area and have really been looking forward to authentic Southern BBQ. Thankfully, I found it on my first try right here at Old South. Even if the food werent that good, which it is, this place would be worth going to just for the atmosphere and service. It is everything youd expect a BBQ down South to be complete with legendary hospitality. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are large. They dont even skimp you on the sides. If ever there were a time I was considering being a vegetarian, this restaurant killed that ambition. Looking forward to going back!

I immediately liked this place upon walking in - it feels very homey and the staff are very friendly. Unfortunately their food needs a bit of work. The non-sweet versions of their BBQ sauce lacked flavor (I didnt try the sweet versions) and the pulled pork and chicken was dry. If your meat is dry you have to (HAVE TO) have good sauce, and it just wasnt there. Also the pricing on their menu is too high for dry meats and bland sauces. Love the vibe of the place but they need to step up their game on the food. P.S. Their hush puppies were amazing.

First let me say that the staff were wonderful. Some of the best people you will meet. How ever the food was awful. The Mac and cheese was from the box and tasteless. How does a restaurant serve box macaroni and charge 2.50? The baked beans were from a can and packed with onions. One bite and i pushed it to the side. The meat (dear god) the ribs were dry, chewy, and hard like a belt. It was like they were reheated in the microwave. The sliced beef was dry and tasted microwave. This was a complete let down because the people there were amazing.

Always loved this place, from way back when my parents -in-law were living, they would always run by, get some to go, bring home and we have great memories at home enjoying it. However, dining in with Old South is equally awesome . They are one, if not The first BBQ joint in Smyrna, have been there for ages, food is awesome and the staff are just absolutely wonderful, friendly folk! One particular sweet gal will usually come up and hug you and ask how you are. Thats exceptionally rare these days! Very down home atmosphere!

Old South is a SURE THING when it comes to REAL BBQ. The family atmosphere will literally greet you with a Big HUG and a beautiful smile from the owner Joy. Melt in your mouth pork with the most outstanding choice of sauces make you want to come back every day. Ribs, Chicken, and Pork are barbecued to perfection every day. The best BBQ experience can be found in the pork plate with Brunswick Stew and Joys Slaw. Outstanding staff, very attentive and the best Sweet Ice Tea and Garlic toast in town
