BBQ kitchen offers a tasty, affordable option in an area of town full of overpriced, below-standard restaurants. Best bang for your buck is the rib plate special. Under $11 for a generous half-rack of smoked ribs and two home cooked sides make it hard to pass up. You would pay much more at the other bbq places in the area for the same and you still wouldnt get the friendly service and home-cooked style food like they have here. They do take credit cards now. The atmosphere is open and airy; kind of like a school cafeteria. You wont notice however, because you will be enjoying their yummy peach cobbler and sweet tea too much. The meatloaf is also just like mom makes; juicy and generous with that nice ketchup crust on the top. Havent had anything I didnt like here yet. Pay at the register and tip well!

Ordered for the 1st time here today and since we were ordering take-out we were shuffled into a side room, where the you are given a different menu with higher prices for take-out. I ordered the brisket with fried okra and Lima beans. After getting back to work, realized it was not brisket I was given, or at least it didn`t look like brisket, more like pulled pork, no bar-b-que sauce anywhere and it was dry and tasteless. I know smoked bar-b-que and this is not smoked. This is oven baked meat with no juices left in, or it`s reheated daily. Very disappointed because of all the good reviews. The Lima Beans were ok and the Fried okra was very soggy. The peach Cobbler was frozen Peach Cobbler like you bake in an oven with no flavor and the crust wasn`t cooked at all. I definitely won`t be back.

Giving a restaurant like this a five-star is always risky. The risk is giving the impression it is a high-end, fancy and expensive place with exquisite cuisine Five-star is not the class, but how well they serve their classification in the market. As others have stated, the recipes are simple, straightforward and good. The value for the amount of food you get is thing that is hard to beat. And your mama would be proud because it is easy to find vegetables you like to meet that requirement. The food arrives at the table expeditiously, too. When I lived nearby, this was one of the few go-to places to get daily meals and not break the bank. Give it a try, especially on banana pudding days.

The service here has always been good. Wait staff are friendly and the food is brought out quick. I normally get the pork sandwich and fries. Im not a fan of the coleslaw though. Seems like the recipe for that needs to worked out a bit, unless Im just used to a different version of it. There are two dining areas here, and for some reason, people eat in the first dining hall. I recommend going to the dining hall in the back during lunch time because it is always empty or sparsely occupied. That way you can actually have a conversation because it can get loud in the first dining room where you enter the restaurant. The food here is not the best BBQ Ive had, but I will say its worth a visit.

Stopped in before my flight out at about 7p.m. Truly local dive joint. Ordered the pork ribs which actually are not specifically even mentioned on the menu. Also got 2 sides-mac &cheese and baked beans. The ribs were surprisingly dry and tough...almost jerky-like and there were only 4 skinny ribs...maybe cuz it was the end of the day for them???...It was dinner time for me. The beans were very good but the serving was about 4 tablespoons in size...I mean tiny amount of beans. The Mac was also good but again a tiny portion. This was a $13 meal which was actually an appetizer in its size. I mean, 4 dried up ribs for $13? Needless to say, I will be dining elsewhere on my next stay.

Went there twice and am generally pleased with their food and services. Reasonable pricing as well. Dined in the first time and the waitress was friendly and attentive. Smoked half chicken dish I had was delicious and would definitely go back there for it sometimes. You have to pay your bill at the cashier and my only disappointment was with them. However, in my subsequent visit, I received excellent friendly attitude and recommendations on their menu items from their another young cashier, which I take it as making up for my unpleasant experience with the cashier from my first visit. Therefore, Im giving the place 5 stars, instead of 3 or 4.

A meat and three place with except smoked meats and some really delicious sides. I ate the collards (with plenty of hot sauce, as is only natural), the pole beans (very tasty, cooked with onions), and the fresh rutabaga (which Ive never tried before so I have no yardstick). With my sides i got the smoked pork, which was leaner than I expected. The sauce at the table was sweet, a huge brag basket and there options for dessert (to full, has to pass). The place was really busy at lunch time but I didnt have to wait for a table as i got there slightly early. Definitely adding to my lunch rotation!

I ordered takeout. While standing at the takeout window waiting for my order, I observed a waitress walk behind the counter, open a drawer, remove biscuits with her UNGLOVED hands and place them on a tray of food. She was laughing and talking with other employees while doing this. No one said anything while observing her do it. This must be a practice of this place. A VERY UNSANITARY practice because she handle money and God knows what else with her hands. This is how bacteria is passed and people get sick.

A wonderful, real family restaurant that is everything the chains are not! Ive been coming here every time im in town since 89. The family who run it are now in their second generation and it still attracts local cops and workers for their meal breaks. Once famous for being stacked high with canned, boiled peanuts they are now absent but everything else is great, cooked and presented to a high standard.

This place has delicious Southern food at reasonable prices. I wouldnt recommend the BBQ. There are other places in Atlanta for better BBQ. This is the place for food like your "mema" used to make. I really love the hen and dressing. It has delicious tender white meat chicken over Thanksgiving-style dressing, covered in chicken gravy. Yum. Plus, all of the veggies taste great, and are well seasoned.

Love this place... Old historic BBQ joint... Inside is dated and in need of rehab, but that adds character. Food is served super quick...Wait staff have worked here for ages and know their stuff. Only issue is that sides and rolls (biscuits muffins) are made earlier in the day and are a little stale by the time we ate there (630pm)... Id eat there again and again, but prefer to go over lunch.

Delightful, comfortable, not fancy, friendly restaurant. Good food. Very nice staff. The walls are decorated with metal sculptures of pigs with wings and roosters, in wonderful colors, which you can buy right off the walls. Absolutely wonderful sculptures. Go there for good meal, great prices, and a really fun experience. Oh, AND a delicious peach cobbler for dessert.
