FOREIGN MATTER IN FOOD. CARELESS FOOD PREP. WAY OVERPRICED. OBVIOUS LACK OF BASIC FOOD SAFETY KNOWLEDGE. Wow, does anyone in Tampa have any idea? We keep eating at these places that supposedly have 4+ stars on Yelp and so far, they mostly are mediocre at best. 4pm on a weekday: Ordered a chile relleno and wife ordered the chicken tostadas (there were 2). We were a touch shocked at the prices when we ordered, but I figured the portions must be huge, WRONG. Chile relleno was tiny and came with probably about 1/4 cup each of rice and beans FOR 10 FRIKING DOLLARS!!!! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. Wife got 2 average sized chicken tostadas for $9! Wow, they must come with dancing girls I thought. $24 for a tiny chili relleno with a tiny cup of rice and a tiny cup of beans, and two chicken tostadas with metal shards from the kitchen in them and two bottles of water. -NOW THE KICKER- Wife was eating the tostadas and halfway through her meal spit something out of her mouth. After talking to the owner, it ended up being the end of the tube with the metal piece on it that the sausage comes in. My question was: why is there a pork wrapper in with chicken tostadas? Theyre only excuse was oh sorry the kitchen is small and sometimes things get into other things. Gross. My wife took the tostadas up to the counter and their offer was to pay for the tostadas only. They asked: but wasnt the chili Relleno OK? Wow again. Were talking possible catastrophic situation here that was barely avoided. Had she bit down hard on that piece of metal, Lord only knows what would be happening right now. Pros: Location Cons: -Apparent carelessness in the kitchen and obvious lack of any kind of food safety knowledge. -WWWAAAAYYYY OVERPRICED -Portions way too small for the price -Several containers of salsa sitting out on the counter with flies gathered around them. Looked very messy.

Eric and Sylvanna.. Shame on you for writing such False statements in your review. I too am a regular at Don Taco and have become friendly with the owner Juan. I showed him your review and both him and his wife were devastated! The pack of Napkins you describe was Sealed !!!! He simply grabbed a broom to knock them within reach from a high shelf.. The broom never touched your napkins as they were AGAIN in a Sealed package. I have always noticed how clean both the front of the place and the back kitchen area is when I eat there as you can clearly see both. Myself nor any of the many people that I have sent to eat there have ever gotten sick and all have raved about the food. They have a professional cleaning crew come in every night after closing as well who cleans and sanitizes the whole place. I have eaten there in the morning just after they opened and the place is spotless! To even insinuate that the food might be full of dirt, bacteria and sickness because someone used a broom to reach a package of sealed napkins is just plain ignorant of you and I would imagine any intelligent person reading your review and mine will quickly realize the same. Again Shame on you for writing such exaggerated nonsense. Don Taco serves amazing authentic food in a clean environment.. and thats why people travel from all over to eat there and keep going back.

Unfortunately this was a very disappointing experience. Its National Taco Day today. I sent my employee to pick up 15 tacos, 5/5/5 different meat options. A second group of workers from my location went there after I told them about all of the positive reviews I had read. My employee was charged $30 +tax for 15 tacos, the second group that walked in as he was walking out of the building paid $12 for 12 tacos. Not 30 seconds apart. The tacos were nearly empty. The amount of product was barely a standard tablespoon per tortilla. The chorizo was bland and pasty, and the carnitas pastor pork was dry and flavorless as well. I was really looking forward to having a taco place in the area for weekly use for the guys at my dealership. They all took the time to come in and tell me how bad their food tasted and that they were still hungry after eating. Maybe tacos were a bad decision and I should have gotten burritos, or tortas, who knows? Might give them another chance a different day, but its going to take a while to get the taste out of my mouth and my wallet.

This is the best authentic Mexican flavor you will ever experience! XmXt pretty its obvious your review is totally false... the prices at this place are low and the quality of the food is amazing. Its sad that you would lie and say your stomach felt bad after your second visit which by coincidence was when you felt the prices were too high? Sorry, I am a regular at Don Taco and have eaten there endless amounts of times in the past year. I hate to see a great business get trashed talked on line by some idiot making obvious false statements. Pancho Villa? Please... they pale in comparison to Don Taco... You must work for them or be friends with the owners to write such nonsense. Juan and his family at Don Taco put out some amazing food as hundreds of others here and on Yelp have reported, and their food is always fresh and delicious! I suggest to anyone that has never tried this place to get in your car, find it and try it! The tacos, Burritos, Tortas. and Quesadillas are addicting and the Guacamole is the freshest and tastiest I have ever had.

My husband went and picked up the food so I cant speak on the establishment, but I will tell you what I thought of the food. First I will tell you that I was born and raised in L.A., and have a life-long love of this cuisine. The thing I miss most about the west coast is 100% mexican food. So....when I saw the comments of authentic I was excited to try it. I was very disappointed. The salsas were not good. They had an odd smell I couldnt put my finger on. One was the hottest salsa Ive ever had. And I love hot, but it was even too hot for me. The nachos had little cheese...so how is that a good plate of nachos? The meat tasted old. The beef in the tacos wasnt seasoned...it was ground beef, not shredded. Sadly, I wont be going back. The search continues. Oh....my husband had ordered enchiladas and they gave him the sauce and the meat and it was not wrapped and cooked in the tortillas, so thats very weird. Maybe I got them on a bad day. Judge for yourself, but for me its a hard no. And my husband said a 2 is generous.

Ambiance? ?? who needs it when the food as so tastey you hear music with each bite? How refreshing to have an indy place where the owners give a damn about what leaves the kitchen. Lengua is incredible and tender. The carnitas is oh so good. Throw in a chorizo and BAM...heaven must be missing an angel. I suggest the tacos mexican style with the fresh cilantro and onions and dont for get to add the homemade sauces. Why go American style tacos when its made only to appease the non-traditional? Weekends they bring out some extra Love by serving Menudo which if youve never had it, you wont wanna miss out on the chilly Florida days. Enjoy and Bon Apetito!
