Found this place when I first moved to tampa a few months back, loved it so much I made sure to take my family there when they came to visit. Had an amazing waitress and a good time. Food is excellent, cheap beers, great environment but the staff is really hit or miss. Had a waitress tell us that was what we ordered when it was wrong and began picking the food apart insisting it was correct. Had to call the manager over who did nothing but get me a new beer since the girl never did. Had a few friends want to go out the other night, I mentioned Ricks and was very excited to take them there. We showed up at 9 with the intent of having drinks and ordering food. All the waitresses were standing up at the computer talking. We moved tables twice thinking they would see us. Finally we got our drink orders placed after 15 minutes only to find they were wrong, no apology instead she brings us warm beers and says "these have been sitting out no one wanted them you can have them for free and ill bring your beers out". The beer was warm and disgusting so we didnt drink it and waited but no return. As we got up to leave, leaving the warm beer on the table she chases us out to the parking lot telling us we have to pay our tab. The manager came running out to control her considering we never got the drinks we ordered. I will never return to this place, such a disappointment. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE unless its a weekend!

Went to this place looking for Raw oysters and found them... Price point was good. Oysters were fine The service was terrible. Asked for a refill and a shocktop. She brings the shocktop, forgets the ice tea. We never even got our lunch. After 35 min of waiting and watching everyone else around us eat my party was tired of waiting. So i get up and walk to the nearest POS and ask the first girl i see "not our waitress" for the bill. That we cannot wait any longer for our food.. I told her If it was done we would take it but. Turns out it was never received by the kitchen. So I have two girls sitting there telling me its the computers fault?! No, our waitress forgot to enter the order just like she forgot to refill my parties tea. One star. Poor service. Nobody offered to get a manager. Just tell me its the computer? Terrible experience.

I would give this place zero stars if the system allowed me too. What a dump! Run dont walk away from this place. I should have listened to all of the reviews that Ive read. We ordered potato skins as an appetizer, they are frozen and microwaved. My girlfriend ordered the chicken philly sandwich which was dry and rubbery and served with fries that were cold and brown and looked they were cooked in one month old oil. I ordered the fish finger dinner, which wasnt any better. The fish was also dry and rubbery and the coleslaw was absolutely disgusting, warm and tasted like dish water. I really feel bad for our server, as today was her first day of working the floor. I gave her a piece of professional advice and suggest that she seek a job at a different restaurant. This is the epitome of a dive bar. I can assure you I will NEVER be back.

Slow service, no ambiance inside. Needs an updating and i quote "the owner wont let us have tvs volume on and the only reason it is on is due to the two other guys at the bar who are regulars..." We wanted to watch a football game on the way back from a cruise down the Hillsboro. Eventually she asked the customer royalty if they minded and they said no so we got a tv and sound. Great. The food took forever to get there, it was overpriced, and we both became nauseated a good 2 hours later from raw oysters.... Meaning the kitchen isnt using any clean technique.... Dont waste your time. The Hillsboro river deserves a better place than this. Hey owner, you suck and your tourist trap restaurant needs a serious visit from Gordon Ramsey who would scold you fiercely. You are an embarrassment to restaurant owners everywhere.

We came on a Friday night and the inside area was pretty quiet. We sat at the bar, ordered a couple drinks, then split some chicken wings (naked, blackened) which were very tasty. Wife, however, thought they were a bit peppery. She cant always be right. :) Drinks were served in little plastic cups, even though I ordered whiskey on the rocks. Everything came very quickly and since we were in a bit of a hurry, we were thankful. The restaurant itself is right on the river (duh) although you dont have all that much of a view. Theres often live music outside and thats where most people hang out. LOTS of people dock their boats there. There were of course TVs inside with sports on. We had a nice experience, will go back.

Nice beach bar atmosphere. Shorts, sandals and undershirts + drinking before noon appears to be the norm. While there is some indoor seating, I get the feeling most people hang out around the ample outside seating areas. Lots of fans blowing to keep you cooler on a hot day. Service is friendly. A family of four could get out of here for $40. I thought the chicken wings with BBQ sauce were particularly delicious. The blackened fish sandwich was alright. Wasnt very blackened. Looked more brown, but it was still good. After eating, you can take a quick walk down to the docks and look at all the fancy homes across the river.

Waitress acted bored or pissed, had an attitude. Food took forever to come out and my fish sandwich was like cardboard with no flavor except for one little corner where it looked like all of the spices had went. the fries were cold and soggy and stale and the dressing was prepackaged... my father in law liked his Rubens but my husbands wrap made him sick, was soggy and tasted like boo too. I he had a side of something I think it was fruit but it was also laughable. We were really excited to be able to tie up the boat and go for lunch but we wont ever go back... well have to find another boating day restaurant.

The good is the scenery! Being a Tampa naitive and admiring the fact Im on the Hillsborough River was great. The bad? Well take it that every bar in Tampa has drinks/beer specials and this place does not is interesting. I find it hard to believe, but whats not hard to believe is the huge profit Ricks makes off their customers. Now for the ugly....FOOD. Oyster bar??? Yeah right, more like our oyster have been sitting on trays in the coolers on a half shell going dry and we spray them before we serve.Another thing please change your grease. It taste like 2005. The owner must not have pride in his business

Good vibe. Good food. We stopped here after 2.5 hours of kayaking next door. Id never heard of it before. It was a great little undiscovered treasure and Ive lived in Tampa not of my life. The waitress was a little rude and annoying by forgetting about us the entire meal. We ended up having someone else tend to us because she was just off in lala land after she dropped a bunch of food and didnt even apologize for getting ketchup all over me. But even though she was bad at being a decent human being, wed go here again.
