We havent had Genghis Grill since we left Tennessee, five years ago. So, our expectations were high when we came to the Northdale (Tampa), FL restaurant, celebrating our daughters 27th birthday. We (my wife & I) also brought our 5 year old Grandson, who is a picky eater. Fortunately, the server, Vondalyn, made the evening worth remembering. She was very hospitable when I was seated alone, waiting for the others to arrive. The rest of our party soon arrived, and Vondalyn explained every detail, and took us through the serving line to make sure we knew just what to do. We asked our 5 year old if he wanted mac & cheese, but he said no, he wanted a bowl. So, the ladies fixed him a bowl with his favorites. However, when the finished bowls arrived at our table, he wouldnt eat, or even try a bite. So, Vondalyn fixed him some mac & cheese, but before she returned, the boy was digging into his stir fry bowl, exclaiming, "I love it!!". We could have made a scene over the behavior of the lad, but Vondalyn, our server, really reached out to avoid a bad situation. The service was great, the rest of the staff very friendly and professional. The food? Delicious, and worth going back to. At the end of the meal, Vondalyn returned with a bowl of ice cream, and a couple of other team members, and they led the restaurant with a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday, for my daughter. Thank you all, and especially Vondalyn for making this evening special! Well be back!!

Food was good as usual, however, everything else about our recent experience was garbage. The waitstaff was inattentive and seemed like they couldnt wait until their shifts were over. The cooks manning the grill in the back of the restaurant were so loud that I could not even hear my server, nor my spouse who was sitting right across from me. They were singing, rapping and making fun of each other. I was shocked to notice that one of the managers, who was distinguished by wearing a red shirt, was partaking in this behavior as well. I had to ask two different staff members to bring me a lemon. Likewise, I had to ask two different staff members to bring soy sauce to our table (one of them being the same manager as before). We were here about 6 months ago with a completely different staff and had a much better experience. Will most likely not be returning to this location. Ever.

My boyfriend and I went there today and not even 10 minutes into eating we both started feeling a little sick.. we didnt think much of it, so continued eating. The sickness escalated so we boxed up our food and made our way home. We live only 5-10 minute away. On our way home my boyfriend got more and more sick, he ended up throwing up multiple times out of my car. I managed to not throw up, but I didnt eat nearly as much as he did. The only meat we had in both our bowls was the chicken. * The waitress was very kind and provided great service. * Unfortunately, doesnt look like we will be making anymore visits there.

A fun, do-it-yourself experience. My son enjoyed creating his own bowl. I was informed I needed to pile my bowl way high since everything cooks down and shrinks lol. We all got the regular bowl (three sizes to choose from: small, regular and large). Many proteins, veggies, and sauces to choose from. And then when you bring your bowl to the grill, you pick your starches. My bowl came out pretty good. I got a mix of the shredded beef, scallops, shrimps and imitation crab meat with spinach, bean sprouts, mushrooms and broccoli. I went with the Khan Pao sauce. I should have went spicier but eh, next time!

To start off, took us 20 minutes to be seated. No hostess and there was many open tables. Couple ahead of us left after they waited for 20 minutes and left when we saw a roach crawling on the floor. After being seated and making our bowl they told us they were out of noodles. Took another 30 minutes for them to make the food and then they "lost" my boyfriends bowl and he had to make another. Would rate lower but the food was really good. A little pricey but its good. The staff was nice and apologized, every restaurant has bad days but will never return because of this experience.

This was the best new restaurant experience Ive had in a long time. Fun, unique, delicious, and pretty good value too. Unlimited make your own trips to the grill for 10 and six to take a whole bowl home is pretty solid. The food was really fresh and cooked fantastically. And theres so much to try! I told the manager I greatly enjoyed it and he wanted me to leave a review on yelp, but I dont have a yelp account and I dont want any more social media, so Im just going to leave this review here, which is probably where Id look anyways.

By 8:30 pm almost no wait time. Build your own. Nice selection of chicken, pork, ham, beef, mongolian beef, shrimp, scallops, calamari, whitefish. Then the veggie bars, the spice bar. If you want whole foods, they have them. Even 2 no soy sauces: garlic water, ginger water. I got ginger water for sauce and it was mildly hot. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I had double cabbage instead of starch. (Skip the corn and water chestnuts and go starchless.) With several tv screens you can watch sports or news or sitcoms. We always enjoy it.

Great value and all kinds of different choice with the build you own stir fry concept. The staff was very friendly and energetic and on point. I was pleasantly surprised by the full liquor bar and the many choices of different import beers. I have been over 10 times wince they opened a few months ago. The service seems to get even better every time and the food is always very good. The restaurant was very clean and the amount of food you get for the money is almost unbelievable. I will be back again and again and again.

I walked in wanting to get something to go. Hostess attempted to sit me at the bar. Finally got her to listen to me only to be served my food in a sit-in dish. Considering how desparate this place was to have me eat there, I decided to eat there in a to-go box. I was brought two cokes from 2 different people. The commercial with the sleazy guy talking about their restaurant appears to be reminiscent of some of the guys working there. Concept of the restaurant isnt bad.

Arrived at around 5pm and the place was absolutely empty, except for us. The whole "build-a-bowl" experience is good, in theory, except all of the sauces are tart and bitter. Youd think theyd have something like a sweet glaze. Also, the fried rice was terrible. Very disappointed. Would not return. I truly felt as if I wasted both time and money on this place. I hate writing bad reviews, but I feel as if the 4+ stars on Google were very misleading.

Its a build a bowl place. Basically you choose a size bowl and fill it up. Im a meat guy so I always fill mine up with as much meat as possible and some veggies. You choose and fill your bowl yourself and they cook it. You only get what you put in your bowl. They cook the food on a large slab which you can watch. I love Genghis Grill and I go there on most trips I take to Tampa.
