Dont come here. Im serious. Because then itll be too crowded and Ill have to deal with a longer wait. :) The restaurant is very small. And its typically VERY packed. We got there for a late dinner, and were lucky enough to be seated before they closed. If youre not good at waiting, have no fear--they will still serve you sake as you wait! Our group ordered some gyoza to start, and I ordered the Spicy Dosunco Ramen with extra pork for my entree. What I love about this restaurant is that you can see everything they are preparing. Since we were sitting at the bar, we were able to get up close and personal with the staff--and the wonderful smells coming from the kitchen. Theyre all very precise and swift in their movements, moving around each other like a well-oiled machine. Its like they all have eyes in the back of their heads! By the time our ramen was placed in front of us, my napkin was soaked from catching all of the drool from my mouth. Who knew something based off of soy beans could smell SO GOOD?! I devoured my entire bowl. The soy bean broth had a nice kick to it--not a sudden heat, but one that builds over time. All of the elements worked so well together! If youre a big protein person, shoot for the extra pork (do you even lift bro?). Overall, I can say Japanese Kitchen Dosunco is now one of my all time favorite places to eat in Tampa. Dont miss out on this hidden gem! Or do. More ramen for me.

Food was great! There were some issues but Im sure theyre still working out the kinks of a new place. For our drinks, we had to ask for straws. For our appetizers, they dont give you any small plates. Gyoza didnt come with a specific sauce and the wasabi mayo for the Karage needs work. Maybe a katsu type sauce would be better. But both tasted delicious! Our ramen noodles were awesome, could definitely use more pork instead of just the 1 slice it comes with (without having to pay an extra $4 for 1 more slice of pork). The service, theyre super nice, but I think they were busier than anticipated so they werent as attentive. Had to ask for refills and a few other things. Overall, good place to eat, I would definitely go back!

First impression: there was ONLY ONE (THICK) SLICE OF PORK and some ground Beef in my Miso Ramen- I’d PREFER A LITTLE MORE PORK than that especially since it was so delicious. In both the Miso and the Shoyu Ramen there weren’t a lot of Meat, YET THE BROTH WAS VERY OILY but still tolerable. Very COMFORT FOOD. I disliked the Noodles especially- great texture and all but THE NOODLES DIDN’T CONTRIBUTE OR ABSORB ANY FLAVOR. On the other hand, I really LIKED THE PRICES AND THE ATMOSPHERE. The tables are short- great for small parties- but the FOCUS IS THE OPEN KITCHEN in the corner. We wanted to see the action so the bar was the best place to be.

Whenever people ask me what one of my favorite restaurants is in Tampa for ramen, its a no-brainier: Dosunco. I fell in love with this place after my first try. Came back a few years later and the food wasnt quite as good as I remembered. I ordered spicy miso again, but the broth was overbearingly sweet. Even all the included ingredients had a touch of sweetness to it, rather than the thick, rich miso taste I remember. Im going to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that hopefully, that was just a bad batch.

Nice spot, we drove up from Naples for the weekend. We had already planned on eating here after reading other reviews. We were not disappointed. It was packed upon arrival. As we waited one of the servers offered us drinks we tried a Japanese beer and gelatine sake shot. They were both good!!!! After 15 mins we were seated and treated with great hospitality. We had a sesame ginger salad, fried chicken and spicey ramen. It was definitely worth the wait & we are looking forward to the next visit.

Coming from California, I didnt think I would find an authentic ramen place in Tampa. Most places here, ramen is an after thought. But this place is just like the traditional places in San Francisco and SoCal. Broth is rich in flavor after being cooked for hours, and noodles are fresh with a nice chew. Everything is very fresh and well cooked. This will now be my go to ramen place in Tampa.

They get quite busy in the evenings, so expect to wait for a seat. Also service suffers a bit then too. But if youre patient, youll be rewarded with some delectable ramen. The broth is silky and full flavored. There are vegetarian options available, if you swing that way, otherwise the pork on top is good, but could be fattier. The marinated eggs are pretty perfect, though.

This just dropped the Trump card on its Ramen shop competitors. The first time we came to Dosunco, they were still getting over the new restaurant blues. It was tasty, but a little slow and a bit salty. Today? Omg. Nevermind the past! The future is delicious. Had a fantastic meal tonight with quick, prompt service and a just startlingly tasty Spicy Ramen. Will be back.

Just arrived in Tampa and wanted to find a place to grab Ramen...was really impressed with Dosunco! The restaurant was very busy throughout the visit and the staff was attentive and friendly. Great atmosphere. The Ramen itself was very fresh and flavored well. Would recommend it to anyone! This will be my go to spot on the next visit! Give it a try!

Best ramen in town. They care about their food and not the hipster atmosphere that others do in the city. The food is the star here and Ive been here many times since. Great prices. Great portions. Reminded of the ramen I ate so much of in Japan

Everyone here is very nice and the noodles are very delicious. Its all pork or vegetarian, so itd be nice if they added some chicken or beef options. The service can also be slow at times, but still very friendly staff.

Good authentic atmosphere. The chef was a real Japanese guy! The miso ramen was a little on the salty side but I have 3 extra strips of pork which may have added to the saltiness. I would recommend to go here
