I made the mistake of choosing Alessi for my wedding cake. The service was good when I was tasting, selecting and ordering my cake, but it all went downhill on my wedding day. The top of my cake was lopsided on delivery. We were told there was nothing they could do without spoiling the looks further trying to fix it. Then the top fell off midway through the reception. Luckily, there were people nearby who saw it sliding off and caught it and sort of shoved it back up. My wedding photos have a lopsided, tilting cake in it. After I returned from my honeymoon, I called them and told them of the fiasco. They offered a partial refund ($300) once I dropped off the cake fountain. I dropped it off, but no one was at the bakery, so I asked if I could drop it off at the deli counter. I was told yes, and I did so. I put my name and contact information on a piece of paper on the inside of the bag containing the fountain. When I still had not received my refund of $300 plus the $25 deposit on the fountain after a couple of weeks, I called them. They said they never received the fountain and that would issue a check after they received it. I told them I had dropped it off at the deli counter and described the person who took it. They said they would check and call back. A week later, I still hadnt heard back so I called them. They said they checked, but never got the fountain and refused to send any money back. I finally said, just take the $25 out of the $300 you owe me. They said they would check into it. After waiting and waiting again, I called back and they said they didnt know what I was talking about regarding a refund. I finally gave up. I do NOT recommend this place due to honesty issues with their staff.

When I first started planning my wedding the cake was the last thing I cared about. In fact, I didnt even want one! I was contemplating just buying a bunch of brownies but I heard from so many people that "every wedding needs a cake". I begrudgingly went with my mom to several bakeries in town, all of which laughed at my idea of a big brownie for a cake and instead suggested white cake with flowers on it, no thank you! Our final stop of a very long day was at Alessis to meet with Melissa. I had dug up some pictures of cakes that I liked the look of, modern looking and in my colors, simple, no flowers. My mom told Melissa I wasnt too thrilled about the cake and wanted a brownie and Melissa said "well how about a brownie explosion cake" as if it were the obvious solution, AND IT WAS!! Against all odds, my brownie explosion cake turned out to be one of my favorite things about my wedding. It was delicious, looked exactly like I wanted, and Melissa and her team went out of their way to accommodate my "Ybor Theme" by designing the cake to accommodate my home-made cake "topper", an Ybor lamp post. We plan on returning to Alessis every year to eat brownie explosion cake on our anniversary and say Thank you to Melissa Alessys for their hard work and delicisou desserts!

Im so disappointed with the service! We ordered a wedding cake from them and the instructions (written by them) were clearly explained on the receipt. For some reason it was not followed. I went to the bakery the next day after the wedding and was told Id get a call back and didnt. I called back a few days later and was offered a refund of the cost but was only given back a third. There was also a problem with the filling. Our middle tier only had a very small portion of filling and way more buttercream. It looked like they ran out of filling and just used what they had. I wasnt refunded anything for that. The cake didnt taste fresh either. I will NEVER buy a thing from them again! What a terrible 1st impression. Im so sorry I chose them to make this special occasion cake. They ruined my day!

Very disappointed, had family coming in from SC and they requested authentic Cuban sandwiches and scachatta. So I knew Alessi had both of those items as I had, had them before, I drove over an hour in the pouring rain to buy 3 Cubans and a half sheet of Scachatta, packed Cubans in cooler and headed home. Here is the disappointment 1 very little meat, pickles sparce maybe 1 per half, no mayo, no mustard traditional Cubans are made with boiled ham not cooked ham, swiss cheese tasted sour. For the price of $10.00 per Cuban it definitely should have a boat load of meat and correct meat and everything else. Scachatta was good but think Ill stick with housewife for in the future. So disappointed this is not the Alessi I grew up on nor my family from SC.

Alessi is a Tampa staple serving traditional Cuban food in the store and catering, and their bakery also offers Cuban influenced items along with some traditional baked goods. Im not sure what all the fuss is about. A lot of the food is good, but overpriced. They continue to bank on the idea that they have been around for a long time, and it seems to work for them. But, dozens of places serve as-good or better food ad have more to offer. If they would modernize the menu some, keeping the traditional items, theyd get more business and Id give them a better rating. But for now, their offerings are stale.

Their polish meats are very good. I like Quaker Creek in Pine Island but they only have one kind of kielbasa, this place has 4 or 5, I recommend the double smoked. They have donuts on Fridays I think, the big ones with raspberry and plum fillings. They also sell salads and pirogi. The egg and vegetable salad is very good, the beet salad is pretty good too. The deserts look very good, but polish desserts tend to be dry. You are supposed to have tea or coffee with them, so keep that in mind. p.s. They sell smoked fish now. I had the mackerel which was good, but the golden trout...amazing!

Their catering is OUTSTANDING. We have ordered from them the past 3 years for our company Holiday party and our staff does not want me to ever go elsewhere. They always talk about the food and how great their holiday menu offerings taste. They deliver on time, every time and they run food all over the Tampa Bay area. Their prices are very reasonable and they always give you so much good food for the cost. They have helped us out when we needed an order with little notice, and their online system is very easy to use. Im always impressed with their accommodating and professional service.
