Hungry at high noon while visiting in downtown Orlando, I noticed this sandwich shop on Orange Ave. My instincts rebelled immediately against the name of this place. Who, after all, imagines Orlando needs "New York" anything?! Foolishly ignoring my negative, initial impression, I opened the door and stepped inside. Immediately, I noticed the food was being heated up in micowave ovens and served on styrofoam plates w/ plastic utensils. I was ready to bolt when I noticed several electrical outlets along one wall, adjacent to a row of small tables. My laptop, which I had w/ me, was dead. I needed to charge it, so to get some work done that afternoon. In a case of relentlessly wishful thinking, I reasoned that a nicer lunch spot, which I could probably find nearby, might not have electrical outlets so conveniently near to the tables. Also, this busy little sandwich shop, w/ its tiny tables, seemed a likely place for a woman to have a quick lunch solo. At an even slightly nicer place, I might b tempted to enjoy a fattening beer or a glass of wine w/ my lunch n then b too relaxed to get back to work, as I needed to do. For all these reasons, I resolved to remain, despite my several concerns about this place. I ordered a small Greek salad w/ chicken and balsamic dressing. The nutritious protein will help my mind to focus after lunch, I figured. I also imagined the apparently homemade salad dressing in this family-owned-n-operated deli would b tasty. The same rosy reasoning led me to order a cupuv lentil soup. My meal, sealed in a plastic box and a styrofoam cup, soon arrived at the counter near the cashregister and cost me less than $8. I chose one of the tiny tables situated next to an electrical outlet. In such a casual setting, I didnt mind pulling out my laptop, setting it on the table w/ my lunch, and plugging the cord into the outlet by the table. I soon noticed, however, my laptop wasnt getting any juice. After several adjustments, I realized the electrical outlet wasnt working. I shrugged, put my computer back into its carrying case, and turned my attention to the plastic packaging wherein my lunch awaited me. I soon discovered, however, the homemade salad dressing was off, so it ruined the salad n chicken. Additionally, the lentil soup was bland and tasted canned. I left this "NY Deli" in search of a glass of wine, reminding myself, in love as in lunch, let your first impressions b your guide!

was staying at the rescidence inn across the street and didnt feel like going far for a bite, considering this place had good reviews and it was still open per google I decided to walk over....only to walk in and find the 2 employees cleaning up and the place looking very much closed, I asked are you closed already and they said yes, to which I replied oh ok becaue your door says you close at 8pm and walked out....whats the point of being in business if youre not even going to honor the hours of operation you choose for yourself and display on your own door, I would understand if i walked in 5 or 10 minutes to close but a whole 1/2 hour?...you clearly dont need business and thats 1 star service for me

Without a Doudt the worst Gyro I have had in 53 years. The pita was tough, the meat inside was all little tiny chucks of meat clearly not cut fresh from the whole as a gyro should be. The sauce was like runny mayo and they had the audacity to cover the entire wretched mess in some kind of hot yellow peppers. It was so bad I had to pull the car over ands SPIT IT OUT on the curb and Throw it away. And even worse they charged $9 for the inedible crap they gave me. Shame on them, stay away.

The guy below said it was the worst Gyro ever.....he needs to quit smoking because these are the BEST Gyros in Orlando, quite possibly in all of Central Florida. I bring customers, friends and family here to heat the Gyro and everyone LOVES them! Keep up the awesome work and dont change a thing!

Stopped due to other business only cash. Had an amazing Greek salad! So glad I had business downtown. Will visit again when downtown. Wish I could find a place with salad to my liking on east side. My husband loved his gyro, not as good as our old Longwood restaurant but I am impressed.
