I have ordered the same thing from this restaurant for two years. Red dragon roll and one spicy tuna hand roll. Every time. The other week I went to pick up my order and I was met by a new face. I did not check my order before leaving mikado and this proved to be my undoing. Upon arriving home with my food I had discovered I was given the green dragon roll (a very different and less expensive item on the menu) when I called back to possibly remedy the error, the woman who I had been ordering from for years picked up. I explained the error in hopes for understanding. I was answered with rudeness which I had never experienced from the small woman with a high pitched voice, her English was not perfect but up until today she had been nothing but polite. That day however she found it necessary to rudely tell me that I indeed received what I had ordered (green dragon roll) and that she would do nothing. Mikado is a horrible place and the service is deplorable. With that being said, the tempura flakes were never to my liking and the portions were rather small. Up until that day the only factor that kept me a customer was that the food was cheap and the (feigned) politeness of the staff. I would recommend musashi on 62nd next to outback on federal, much more professional staff and visibily higher quality sushi.

Food was good. Service leaves a lot to be desired. It was possibly the worst service our family has ever experienced at any restaurant. It was a Sunday night tonight and there were a total of just 3 tables in the entire restaurant, including ourselves, and two servers working the floor. We had a table of 6, and our bill was rather high with 4 specialty rolls, noodle dishes, and multiple appetizers. After our order was taken, our food showed up one by one, the food was cold by the time the next dish arrived and we were all finished by the time the last persons food showed up. They did not start making the final dish until we were all finished and had to complain about the missing entree. At no point were drinks refilled nor were we tended to by the wait staff, which were with the other two tables the entire night and left us by ourselves for the entire dinner. Never checked on us or asked if we needed anything else. Horrible service.

Yeah, I said it! And, its cheaper! The atmosphere inside this place is so calm and peaceful with the Japanese decor and furnishings. I actually didnt want to go but gave in and am glad I gave it a chance. Everything was AMAZING, from the beginning to the end with the desserts. Chicken Teriyaki was the best Ive had in my life. And the Dessert, Banana Tempura, delicious. Green Tea ice cream was a subtle sweet delicacy. Amazing. Ive been to Benihana and this place competes with the food there. The sad thing is, when you see these small Asian restaurants you might, like I did, already assume how cheap it might be or taste and think itll be just like the rest youve been to. This was the best Asian place Ive been to. Owned by a wife and Husband who is the cook. You wont regret it. GO!

If I had to sum up my first experience dining at Mikados (for my fathers 65th birthday), the only thing that comes to mind is simply "wonderful". The food was fresh and delicious with an artistic presentation. The service and management were friendly, swift, and polite. A romantic restaurant for two or fun with a group of people. It has a quaint charm, nestled and secluded in a beautiful shopping center. Fairly priced. Will definitely re-visit. Ask for the Lobster Roll. Really good. Also, ask for Karaoke; they have a nice set-up (they even have a nice guy playing along with an acoustic guitar). If the staff can handle my family singing; they can handle anyone. Again, just a completely "wonderful" experience.

Perfection in every sense of the word. The spicy Spider Roll was like a flavor experience unlike any other. Chicken Tempura was also very good, not greasy at all and the vegetables tasted very fresh despite being fried. Kanisu Roll was really refreshing. Ive never heard of such a thing but glad we went for it with the crab and avocado. Kathy was very nice and helpful with the menu, very inviting, and social. We went at 9:30 and the window schedule stated til 10pm and as we were walking away she came out and invited us in and we were the only ones there! They stay open as long as theyre customers willing to eat it seems, within reason. Great place, pricey but well worth it. Defiantly going back!

Just got out of the place. Bad experience, I dont know how this place has such high rating. My friend had Raman noodle (pork), the pork was alright, but the broth was miso based, not meat based. which the menu did not specify. I had the worst sukiyaki ever! The shirataki noodles were in pieces, tofu had no taste, and the steak was rough. 2/3 way through, I found a long hair in my food, which I stopped eating immediately. When the waitress handed my check, she wasnt apologetic at all when I told her about the hair. Bad food and service, will not be going back!

Got a craving for Ramen and was very disappointed. Having travelled to Japan and tasted the most incredible Ramen I usually keep expectations pretty. However, 2 small slices of dry, chewy pork and way too peppery broth was just too much to take.. This bowl cost almost $13 after tax and the owner rudely tried to justify it that it was really closer to $11... I dont care. $13 is A LOT, The most Ive ever paid for Ramen, including some fancy places in Sydney, Australia and Japan itself... Mikado you need to do better...

My friend who grew up in Japan recommended Mikado and we finally tried it tonight. We are SOOOOO glad we did. The food and service were outstanding. My son is a miso soup connoisseur and he proclaimed it the best he has ever had--in Florida, New York and London (He has not been to Japan yet). The tempura was perfect. The fish, chicken and vegetables were super fresh and delicious. This is our new go-to-Japanese night out. It is a small, quaint restaurant where the fine ingredients are the stars.

From the moment you walk in, to the moment you walk out... You will enjoy great and fresh food, amazing service and you will relax with the music and atmosphere. Family owned restaurant that REALLY makes you feel at home. My favorite roll is the Green Dragon Roll and my husband loves the Volcano Roll... Really good prices and Specials! If you dont like sushi or rolls, try the Salmon with rice and salad...its fabulous! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED place!!!!

Ive been coming here for years and it simply is the best place if you love sushi. I was very distraught when the owner passed away and did not know where to get such food but then the sweetest couple resurrected the restaurant and now not only is the food better but the place has been cleaned up. It looks and feels fresh and the new owners are like great friends just like it was previously. I couldnt be happier. Jay

Like everyone else said, this place is excellent. They have lots of fancy rolls, but the simple sushi is where they shine. I had a salmon skin hand roll that was one of the best Id ever had, nicely toasted nori too. Jalapeno HANA was great too. Simpler than menu description, with no cream cheese and mayo (a lot of the fancy rolls have that, but they will leave it off if you want).
