My wife and I first discovered Masamune about 6 months ago. We now drive an hour just to have dinner here. This place isnt good, its not even great. It is hands down the best sushi restaurant I have been to. Ever. Soon as you walk in the staff greet you the same way you would be in Japan and going into restaurant. But lets talk food. Lets start with the miso soup. Its normally a bland and almost unwanted additional to any meal. I have often turned it down because I like a bit ore flavor in my soup. I ALWAYS get the miso soup here. Its much more flavorful and the broth has a richness that is hard to beat. Then theres the sushi. The first time we came here we asked for a few rolls and then also had some pieces of sashimi ala carte. Very tasty. Our second time we wanted to be a bit more adventurous and asked the chefs to just give us a sample of their more exotic stuff. What they brought out was the single most delicious sashimi and sushi I have ever tasted. Then I found out how old some of the fish was. Turns out they age some of their fish, just like a restaurant ages their meat. We had 5 week old kingfish that tender and delicious and frankly it was hard to believe the fish was that old. They offer the traditional California rolls and others that are catered to the American palette but they are about as good as you would expect them to be. They serve traditional warm dishes as well and we always steal most of our daughters katsu for science. I really can go on but Ill leave it at this. If you are an adventurous eater and dont mind trying new things ( or paying a bit extra) ask for who they dont have on the menu or to be the chefs surprise you with that they have. You will not be disappointed.

I cant believe I havent reviewed this place already! Ive been coming here since they opened this second Fort Lauderdale location and I have *never* been let down. The other reviews are right when they say other non sushi/fish dishes are excellent as well. The sushi is wonderful too, dont get me wrong, but they really do everything right at this restaurant. All of the staff is very attentive. I come here so often with the same order I dont even have to say it anymore! I never thought I could sit down somewhere and just say "The usual, please." =) This is the best sushi place in all of south Florida in my opinion. Give it a try! You wont regret it.

Went here a few weeks ago with some of my friends and my mom with a total party of 5. Have to admit.... we had an amazing time! Food was delicious, service was on par with our vibe, plum wine was fantastic, and the atmosphere was perfect. We ended up staying for a few hours just until a little after they closed, their service made sure that we felt at home and comfortable. You will not disappointed for a second when you dine at Masamune.

We love sushi and have been to many sushi restaurants but we were not impressed here. The restaurant smelled like fish upon walking in and the spicy tuna roll tasted very fishy. There wasnt anything special about the other rolls we had as well. The staff was friendly enough, but the service wasnt great - both of our drinks were dry and refills werent offered.

The best sushi in Fort Lauderdale!!! The reason for that is the real authentic japanese sushi chef that know his job very well. He does all the traditional sushi to perfection and offer "omakase" too.The fish is always fresh and delicious and some plates are very hard to find in other places. I highly recommend Masamune if you like high quality japanese food!

Probably the best Sushi in Broward county, with constantly changing fresh fish rotation and deep menu choice. Omakase served up by Yoshi and his crew is serious stuff that can contend with the big boys in NYC & LA, only presented in much more humble and approachable digs. IF you are serious about Sushi, and Broward has let you down, this is the place.

OMG! Their new menu is just amazing and the food is phenomenal!! Edamame hummus w wonton chips, cucumber dips, Ahi poke, ceviche....Delish! for the quality and the portion, its fairly priced, rather a good value:) Everyone who works there is just awesome and super friendly, too. Definitely going back for sure. Recommended ++++++!

Best Ramon in the Town!! I have eaten at Masamune several times and I have always had wonderful service. I would defiantly refer this restaurant to anyone who is interested in having house ramon or onigiri (off menu)! Only downside is some of the sushi and the fish head meal would not be recommended.

Masamune is a favorite stop for us! We keep coming back, and even have a frequent diner card. Atmosphere is great. Service is attentive. And the food is excellent. The US1 Roll is our favorite. Its a little easy to miss; set back, just one driveway north of McDonalds. Recommended for sure.

This is the best and most authentic Japanese food Ive found in Fort Lauderdale. Most sushi spots in Fort Lauderdale are Japanese and Thai mixed which is weird since the cuisines are so different. I was so happy to find this spot and the service is amazing as well. Seriously great food!!!

Thought this place is good with such nice comments, but i seem to have catched a real ugly fish as i had so bad stomache ache and did throw up all night. The service was excellent but that didnt helped a lot during the night :-) sorry guys, but never again you see me there!

Excellent service; Sarah is attentive, and remembers what you enjoyed your last visit. The rolls are tastier than elsewhere. But the real treats are the ramen and other non-sushi items. Great tuna tower, different than most places. Very friendly folks.

Very good Japanese food. I always have a good time there. I love all their menu. Nice environment and nice friendly servers. I often go with my girlfriend after a long working day for a quick sushi grab and some cold sake I highly recommend it.

From US1 this place looks like a hole-in-the- wall. However when you wall in you have a beautiful, clean, and elegant sushi restaurant. Amazing service. The food beautifully presented, high quality, and completely delicious!

Awesome place to dine in. No disappointment guaranteed. Good sushi & food. A nice, friendly, cozy neighborhood restaurant. The sushi chef Mike has a great character, and Hide, the manager, is such a gentleman:)

Best sushi place I have ever been to. Hands down. The staff is excellent. If Sarah is working, know you are in good hands! Dont get a California Roll; get the Heart of Japan.

Great venue, great service and a menu that has all the visuals as well as plenty of exotic options for the less faint of heart. (Such as jelly fish salad. Or sea cucumber!)

This is a must visit sushi restaurant. The restaurant is small and intimate with really stunning sushi. Absolutely one of the best sushi restaurants Ive been to.
