LOBA was the 3rd destination for myself and my fellow Biscayne Corridor neighbors on our inaugural Restaurant Crawl through the MiMo district of Biscayne Boulevard last Sunday night. Nestled at the unofficial end of the district, LOBA is a winner! Located in a small, unassuming motel, you are transported the second you walk through the restaurant door. With its solid wood and brick interior, LOBA feels like a sophisticated, urban wood cabin, warm and inviting with soft lighting. Our server greeted us immediately and set about serving us sangria with a blackberry (which our crawlers loved!) and bringing out the first of 3 delicious items for us to sample. Baskets of Zak The Baker bread and LOBAs signature butter (butter whipped with honey) were passed around. We then tucked into a farro based dish topped with an egg - heaven! Ive never had anything like this before - it was absolutely exquisite! This was followed up with a dish of pulled pork, perfectly seasoned and as tender as could be. And finally a chicken dish which I regretfully didnt sample but which my fellow crawlers report was delish! LOBA describes its cuisine as New American but that doesnt do it the justice it deserves. Their food is inventive and innovative with modern American, Latin and Southern influences. Clearly, great effort has been made to blend and create these dishes for todays diners discriminating palate. In addition, the food is beautifully presented which makes your meal extra special. LOBA is located at 74th street on the west side of Biscayne Boulevard. It shares a parking lot with the Royal Inn Motel but ample street parking is available off the boulevard. Although a relative newcomer to the happening MiMo district restaurant scene, LOBA has made its mark and rightly so with its flavorsome, contemporary fare. Many, many thanks LOBA for making our Restaurant Crawl night so very, very special! A shout out to our amazing server who made sure that all us crawlers were well taken care of and had more than enough to eat! A nod to Jessica too, the young woman who owns LOBA -always happy to see women doing well in business! We had a fabulous time and now we know why everyone is talking about LOBA!! Expect us again soon!

We came in with reservations for 8 people. We were seated at the largest table in a very small restaurant of about 10 tables. Our drinks were taken and delivered and we skimmed the menu as a few other patrons trickled in, only filling up 3 or 4 other tables. We decided on our food, made all the usual signs we were ready, and watched and waited as the servers helped all the other tables, and ignored us. Time went on, customers who came in well after us were being served as we , the largest group taking up most of the space, was still sitting with our drinks emptied and our orders not taken. We finally flagged down a server to tell her that we were ready to order and we were unhappy with the service weve so far received. Her response was to say there were only "2 servers on today" (for less than 20 total customers including us) and didnt offer compensation or even apologize. Instead the server acted annoyed that we were upset that we were being ignored. By the time the food started coming out we were all starving. It came out slowly, and randomly. Each trying to patiently wait for the other to get their food before they ate. Finally we all got our food except for one person. We all waited for her food to come out, but they never brought it over. Finally someone from our table went to the counter to ask about it. It was just sitting in the window waiting. Just like we were. Mind you, in all this we didnt get rude or mean or do anything to provoke poor service. We tried to be patient, but we were really hungry and we couldnt understand why they werent paying their largest table any attention. Until we got the bill. Groups over 5 and the 20% gratuity is included. Ok cool, so I guess they just didnt feel they needed to work for that 20% like they had to with the other tables, maybe. I have no idea. All I know is that it took so long to get the food I cant even really remember if it was good or not because I just ate it so fast out of desperation.

We picked it because it was walking distance from the Vagabond Motel where we were staying. The GPS unit on my phone said it was right in front of us but I still couldn’t find it. Finally, my wife noticed the name on the door. We were, literally, standing right next to it. It’s hard to see and really small inside, with right around a half-dozen table and a few seats at the bar. During the season, definitely get reservations. Though small the atmosphere is cozy and intimate and the service is very nice. The food is hard to describe as South America meets upscale burger bar. We started with the fried goat cheese balls drizzled with honey called Vincent Van Goat and those were amazing. The wife and I were shamelessly finger fighting over the crumbs on the plate. The waiter told us he’d had tables that just wanted order after order of them and I can see why. My wife had the veggie burger which she described as wonderfully flavorful and I had the Mimo Fried Chicken which was a bit of a disappointment. It was a little dry and not terribly flavorful, though the mac and cheese it came with was excellent. Overall it’s cozy, friendly and personable and the food can be a little off but its still unique and prepared with great care. I can totally recommend Loba and would certainly eat there again. Dinner for two, including the tip was a thrifty $85 and for that atmosphere and quality in Miami, it’s a bargain.

Great place for brunch, came in last Saturday for the first time and were lucky enough to be seated in what they called "communal table" which in my opinion is their best spot in the restaurant and really helpful for big groups like us. Our experience was beyond amazing in this place, starting with the service at the minute we walked trough the door the server created a really nice atmosphere by welcoming us and being so knowledgeable about their menu she always had a smile on her face for everyone and seemed to control the place like it was a piece of cake even though it was a bit crowded at the moment. Food was EXCELLENT! Ill never forget my delicious ring on fire it is the best chicken and waffles Ive ever had in Miami you must order for sure! Definitely coming back soon.

Extremely disappointed of this restaurant! I had the loba burger wich was kind of good and my girlfriend ordered a Bandeja Paisa. (nothing special about this dish, bloody meat even though we asked for well done, under cook chicharron and los frijoles were... well Im from Colombia so let say I had better frijoles) could not believe how expensive but plain this hole experience was. I do not think I will be back to this place.

Loba never disappoints! Ive had the pleasure of eating at this cozy restaurant a few times. I have had something different each time and loved them all. The burger is delicious, the Patacon is unique and very tasty and the ceviche is outstanding. The service is always very friendly and attentive to their guests. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants! Cant wait to go back.
