Living in the Kissimmee area for some time, I have been to Chef Johns only a few times. After seeing the restaurant being highlighted on a recent episode of Emerils television show, we were motivated to go again and took a visiting family member. The meal was beyond disappointing. They were out of ribs (the meal highlighted on the show and motivation for going back). The pulled pork was mushy and would have been more suitable to be used in hash. The collards were bitter. The macaroni and cheese looked and tasted as if it came out of a box. Although the server came to the table to refill beverages, she never asked if we were pleased with our meals. When it was time to go, the server asked if we wanted a box for the left overs, never mentioning the still FULL plate of food. In previous visits, the owner/chef has walked around and touched base with the patrons. During this visit, he did step out from the kitchen, looked around as he leaned against the wall, then returned to the back. He never came around to the tables to speak with his customers. The visit was disappointing. We will not be back any time soon.

We seen this place on the news, and could not wait to try it. I liked the place. Very nice and VERY clean. The food was good. But the service was awful!!!!! We had a 6 month old with us. When we walked in with a stroller the firs thing the young lady asked us is "what we were planning to do with it".....( we did not know the place is tiny) So we had to go back to the car and leave the stroller. After we came back and set down She took our drink order, and went to talk to another table ( for a wile) Then she cashed them out first, and only after brought us our drinks. It is 100F outside, if you dont get you drinks fast you already have upset client. And another thing, if you see people have a baby with them, you want them in and out as fast as you can before baby starts acting up :) All the time it felt like she was doing us a favor!!!! NO PERSONALITY AT ALL. Ruined the whole experience. Very dry and not welcoming. We could not wait to eat and leave.

I can only describe it as....JUST AWESOME...... everything we had was great. I had the leanest, fall off the bone, scrumptious baby back ribs ever even the corn bread, collards and mac and cheese was delicious even thought i prefer my collards with a touch of sweetness I have never had them this way and they were superb. The other member of my party had the ribeye. OMG the smell made me want that instead and he is very picky meat and potatoes guy and he ate everything. We arent down in this area often but next time we are we will remember here for the food and the service was great also they were attentive, friendly and prompt. Everything about this place was JUST AWESOME.

Our family was vacationing in the Kissimmee area and searched for a restaurant that was local to the area, not a chain restaurant. We located this restaurant off a website and decided to give Chef Johns Place a try. After driving 30 minutes, we arrived at our destination. Upon arrival, to a gated area, we were asked if we had reservations. We stated, no there was nothing located on the website that stated reservations were recommended. The guard called to ask if he could allow a party of 4 through the gates. He was instructed that they would not accommodate is. If I could rate this a no stars, I would, however, you have to give at least 1 star to comment.

Absolutely FIVE stars. The chowder was simply out of this world and I also had the crab encrusted Salmon. We had a small issue with the service - a miscue on our appetizer - but, in my mind (having been in the service business) - its not the issue/problem - but, how it is dealt with. The lead waitress realized their was a very small issue and swooped in to save the day; we were extremely pleased and will be back again and again. We have recommended Chef Johns to several people and friends of ours who are visiting the area just sent us a picture and let us know how AMAZING their meal and the service was......five stars for them too!

The highlight of our visit to Florida was our evening at Chef Johns Place. Thankfully we reserved a table because this is a small restaurant and some guests that hadnt reserved had to be turned away. The food was exceptional, as was the service, atmosphere and value. Chef John came out to meet his guests and check that everyone was happy. The salmon was fresher than I have ever eaten and my salmon linguine with scallops was a one - off special that night. Pure perfection, but make sure you reserve a table to avoid disappointment.

You would think a pulled pork sandwich would taste the same anywhere you go. We did until we tried Chef Johns. He makes his own sauce, bakes his own bread, and no idea how the sweet potato fries were made but they were cooked in something definitely better that plain old french fry grease! We will definitely return. Small place so if you plan to go late in the day, a reservation would be needed (my guess).

I called the phone number and when I was referred to the new location I was not told about the required reservations to gain entrance to the gated community. The website is outdated and tacky. The phone number not helpful and frankly a place that does not tell of new rules of their residence is to stupid to run a restaurant in the first place. Save yourself possible food poisoning and just go anywhere else.

Was on a yearly golf outing and had a wonderful experience, the atmosphere was relaxing off the water and the food was very well prepaired. I had the Salmon linguine and it was the best I ever had. Only heads up is to avoid any issues getting on the property and being seated is the make reservations. Looking forward to going back when I visit the Orlando area.

This is a regular place for my Wife and I to visit. My Wife loves the Crawfish Grits and the Collards. I myself am very partial to the blackened Grouper sandwich and Chef John just makes the most wonderful grilled asparagus! If I didnt live near here, Id probably still drive to Poinciana to visit at least once a month!

Small restaurant located near downtown Kissimmee. I would have missed this place had someone not recommended it. Everything was delicious and flavorful - the chef even comes out to chat with his customers. Definitely a must see if youre in the area.

It would be nice if they mentioned that this restaurant is on a gated property. We drove 1/2 hour, because of the reviews, and could not actually get to the restaurant. How is it possible that you wouldnt mention that on your website? Very poor.

The Grill is a fantastic compliment to a beautiful community. The food is a great value and best of all they bring it right to your poolside table. My favorite dishes so far are the fried grouper and the steak wrap.
