We come here with our accountant a few times a year (he treats us) and it seems to be deteriorating. Were all British, and all enjoy our beer with fish and chips. This last visit on Wednesday last week was a real endurance test. The service was horrendous - it took ages to get anything and we didnt seem to have one server assigned to us - it was really a matter of trying to flag SOMEONE down to get something that we needed. I had asked for an empty wine glass so I could have a sip of wine that he was having - AGES later they bought me an empty carafe. What am i going to do with an empty carafe? No HP SAUCE EITHER! WHAT KIND OF IRISH PUB DOESNT HAVE HP SAUCE? You can even get it in Publix - theres really no excuse for not having it. The first waiter we had looked very confused and said hed try to find some - but never came back to the table - so we asked someone else and he just said no.... very disappointing. Its a basic staple - how can you not have it? The server said "everyone asks for it. We just dont have it." really????? If everyone wants it, why not get some? And the food was very disappointing - the fish and chips was pretty awful - nice size portions but tremendously big batter, and when you open up the batter, the size of actual fish inside was miniscule - Id say two bites and I was done. the batter was very greasy, which is why I didnt want to eat it - and the fish, well, there was barely any fish. My husband ate some of the batter, but he pushed it aside and said ugh, this is so greasy ( he felt greased up even the following morning! Thats how bad it was!) Even our accountant said, what on earth has gone wrong with this place? First the service, and now the food? We couldnt even get extra lemon slices without asking a few times and waving down a server (nobody came to the table).... normally wed have dessert but our accountant just said "Im done. Were not coming back here again." and got the bill..... I wrote to them too, asking what had happened, why was the service and food so bad this time? Of course, no response. ***Thanks a lot The Field - youve lost 3 repeat customers, and of course, our friends here who used to frequent you too - theyll never come back either. Just three things we needed - good food, good service, and HP sauce. Not at this place! ****They responded 4 days later - explaining that HP sauce is too expensive for them to serve it unless they can get a better bulk price - they think customers will be angry if theyre charged for it... they sincerely apologized for the service and poor food, and it really appeared heartfelt and sincere. They offered us something off the next meal we have there. I appreciate the detailed response - but offering "something off" the next meal is hardly going to get our accountant excited enough to come back - it really was that bad an experience. The previous couple of times werent nearly this bad - they werent great, but they werent like this - so it seems to be a slow decline, and this last one hit rock bottom.

My co-workers and I came here for lunch today (St. Patricks Day). We were super excited because we loved this place and it has always been a tradition for us to come here for SPD. I understand that The Field is super busy today and we always make sure to be patient and respectful.....actually we are very nice people so the way we were treated by our waitress Amy today was absolutely appalling. We order our drinks which she delivered but never came back to take our food order so we had to stop her as she walked by. She was so annoyed and yelled something as she kept walking and then came back with a few mins later and was like, "Ok, but we are super busy!" Like, was it not ok to order food? The food came and my co-workers were very happy with the pretzels, potato soup and Shepard Pie. I however had the corned beef and cabbage and it was not very good. The corned beef was dry and the potatoes were brown like they hadnt been washed and under cooked. Later when we wanted to pay we again got attitude from the waitress and when I asked if it was too late to split the bill she shook her head yes and walked away and then later walked by and shouted, "there is an ATM up front otherwise I dont know what to tell you." I really dont know what her problem was with us. We were patient and polite. We saw her being friendly with others but for whatever reason she singled us out to take out her frustration. I dont think the restaurant needs my business therefore I will not be returning.

This is one of those unfortunate situations when one thing ruins everything. I was there for a Birthday Party, Wednesday the 9th. The place is rustic and a joy, from the tree out front to the decor inside. I understand they even allow dogs at the outside tables. The service was good and attentive. The food was also very good and large portions. The prices were about what one might expect in a place such as this and everything seemed in order until... They had a Rod Stewart imitation on the stage who spent more time inciting the crowd then entertaining. He sang Maggie three times through and started it two more. In an effort to salvage my friends Birthday Party I went to the back looking for management but they were no place to be found. I asked staff and all they did was shrug. As he was just standing there staring angry at the party walked up and told fake Rod, "Its this womans birthday and shes been talking you up to all of us. Are you going to let her down now?" He sang 2 more songs then went into another rant about how bad we were. This was when my girlfriend and I left. NOTE TO THE FIELD: Spent almost $100.00 and would have spent more but left early and wont be back until hes gone. NOTE TO FAKE LOSER ROD: Your not that good, I know better. Your not funny, your annoying. You must have pictures of someone because youre loosing them money.

The ambiance of this place is incredible. Approaching from the road, the outside looks very different than what is inside (which is a bit like a tree house!) Low mood lighting means this is a great place for a date. The food was either good, or just ok. We had the onion rings, and the chicken strips from the appetizers menu, a side of rustic potatoes and the side vegetable medley. The vegetable medley was better than expected in that it featured baby green beans and carrots. The flavor was great but the green beans were underdone and the carrots were overdone. The onion rings were very good. The flavor in the batter was nice and they were very light, and there was a good portion to share between two people. The rustics potatoes were nicely executed with small crispy diced red potatoes. The chicken strips were only OK. They were the corn meal type batter and very thin. They seemed previously frozen. The beer list was very decent, with a nice range of styles on draft including hefeweiss and red ale. We went at 5pm on Sunday and it wasnt too busy. We ate outside on the deck, which is very large and in some places had a tree growing through it. This was overall a very good experience, and Ill be back to try more of their menu. But Ill skip the chicken tenders ;)
