For Mothers Day we tried brunch at Sun, Surf, Sand. Our reserved table was ready when we arrived. We had 3 different cocktail drinks although good in taste seemed a bit lacking in alcohol. We wondered why our drinks had carbonated soda water not mentioned on the menu as an ingredient. We both ordered sushi nachos consisting of 4 small round homemade nachos (not the bag variety) with the various fish piled on top. It looked and tasted good. A nice starter. Our second dish for both of us was goat cheese croquettes almond crusted with guava sauce. 4 small warm freshly prepared croquettes with a creamy goat cheese center. Very tasty. We recommend for a light starter. Our third and last serving was oak grilled mahi mahi. Most restaurants serve gas grilled items. We never tried wood grilled fish so it sounded good. Both dishes arrived as very small servings of fish on a bed of a liquid that seemed like oil with a side of a high content fatty mayo cole slaw which was awful. How can a fish be oily looking and tasting oily after being grilled? Did the chef spray oil on the fish while grilling so it wouldnt dry out? The taste was weird. I didnt finish it. It was the smallest mahi mahi serving weve ever ordered at a restaurant overpriced compared to other restaurants that serve grilled mahi mahi sandwiches. S3 has other selection options than oak grilled fish. The server was ok just not attentive to refill water glasses only interested to up sell more cocktails. 3 and a half stars appropriate. Four stars may be slightly too generous.

This was a great location for meeting with a new business group. Sun, sand and surf is always a nice combination of ingredients for meeting and mixing with new people. This was a cocktail and app get together with about 30 people. We were given a very nice area by the bar with a good view of the ocean. It was relatively quiet, so it wasnt difficult to talk and get to know people. The decor was warm and relaxing. I started with a drink, the berry mojito. It was a smooth combination of Bacardi Wolfberry, with fresh strawberries, blueberries, lime and mint. It was refreshing but needed a bit more kick. The glass was fairly small and a lot of the space was taken up with berries, so it wasnt a great value. Happy hour is $3 off of the usual $12 price, so its not the best happy hour value. There were a number of different apps served. I sampled 3 types of hummus with pita wedges. All were nicely seasoned. There was a wok charred edamame with soy, togarishi and smoked salt. It was messy to eat, but really delicious. We were also offered several different sliders, so I went with one that was a roast chicken and another that was a spicy beef. While I couldnt say exactly what was on either of them, both were very good. The beef was especially flavorful and had a fairly significant amount of heat. Overall, it was a very nice experience. Id like to go back and try the full menu. :)

I went there for dinner recently and had the worst experience. We had 2 guests join our party of 4 and when one of the guests sat down the chair was pulled from behind him by the hostess. Next a manager named Jeff Wolf came over and was beyond rude, making snide and sarcastic comments to us when we were simply trying to accommodate an additional 2 guests. He said he was only responding to us but he fails to recognize that he is a manager not a customer and is supposed to be a professional. Well he and other staff were anything but professional. Never before have I experienced such horrible customer service. We ended up sitting through dinner and there was more than enough room for everyone but even assuming there wasnt management could have politely said they cannot accommodate the additional guests and there would have been no issue. The way management handled this reflects issues of training from the top down. Management does not seem to have a clue and the actions of the hostess and other staff reflect this. I live in Fort Lauderdale and had been to this restaurant many times before and have lots and friends and family that frequent this place but I will never go back and will recommend the same to anyone. There are too many good restaurants in Fort Lauderdale that understand customer service to waste your time at this place.

This is a very pretty place. Our reservations were late so we didnt get to enjoy the ocean view but the atmosphere is nice. Great selection of music and I loved the fire pits. Nice mood setting place. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. It was our first time. The drinks and food were great. He even received a complimentary birthday desert and our waitress Sunny was a gem. Unfortunately I cant give this place more than three stars because there was a snail in my water. I have no idea where it came from and of course it isnt anyones fault because I know it wasnt intentionally put there. Im just disappointed in the management. The waitress apologized and brought a new one right away. She told me she informed her manager. The manager never came out to say anything. As a manager myself I know that when there is an incident with a customer I should deal with the situation. After all, customer service is a must, regardless of the industry. Wish management wouldve handled this better especially since we stayed after the incident. Vey disappointed.

I am a lucky guy, I was invited here as a birthday dinner present from sweet Karin, and the entire experience ROCKED, heres why: * The company! * Jamie, our waiter, was fantastic without hovering, he represents the brand well and has great energy * Tapas / sharing sized portions mainly * Beachfront view * Cool layout and decor * Fairly priced We drank a delish bottle of Tyku Black (cold) Sake. Mmmmmmmmm, Yummo! We also tried their Sake Sunset Cocktails, made with sake and Grey Goose ($12 bucks each). Awesome. We ate: * Kamikaze Roll (HIT!) * Brussel Sprouts (HIT!) * Short Ribs with mac-n-cheese (HIT!) * Paella * Scallops * Panna Cotta for dessert Wow. Score. Coming back. Sooner. Before you. Cabeza BLESSED!

Fantastic place on the beach. Normally I dont go to any of the hotel restaurants on the beach. As a local, there are so many wonderful places without all the tourists, expense and parking nightmares within Ft Lauderdale. However, Im VERY glad I went outside my norm for S3. This is NOT a hotel restaurant. This is a restaurant that is located in a Hotel. HUGE difference. If you are looking for a reasonably priced, amazing eclectic small plate menu, this is a go. We had a table of 6. The service was amazing, food was excellent. I highly recommend the Sushi Stack. It was fresh, with wasabi guacamole that was fantastic. This is a do over for certain.

I only booked this restaurant for its view as our guests would like to be by the beach and we all left happy and satisfied with our orders. My scallops were amazing! On my future visit, will try the sushi tower, get my own lamb (I had a taste and it was awesome). We had Sheila as our server and shes a happy person which made our dining experience even better. Downside is probably that we still have to pay an amount after spending hundreds of dollars in the restaurant. Regardless if customers can afford to pay it, I can only wish they will waive it if customers paid enough in one of their restaurants and only spent 2-3 hours in their establishment.
