1 star is a gift!! The food here has become sporadically good at best, sad, they "used" to be good! I brought a friend there for dinner tonight as she had liked it and I was unable to talk her into Carmelitas in Dunedin instead. The tortilla chips served with the salsa were stale, not just a little, but really stale. We laughed, how hard is it to serve crisp corn chips?? Apparently its difficult at Poblanos! I ordered the chimichangas, one steak and one chicken and I asked about the sides. The waitress Anna explained it comes with mexican rice and a guac salad, I said great as I dont like refried beans. It came out and I didnt know what it was! There were 2 Fajitas with cheese sauce on a plate with a guac salad and refried beans. I asked about the beans instead of the rice and the waitress took my plate back to the kitchen where they put my food on another plate with rice. As I started eating it the waitresss asked how it was and I questioned if it was the chimichangas which are fried and I had 2 soft tortillas with cheese sauce, like 2 fajitas with cheese sauce, exactly like that! She took my plate again and went back to the kitchen. When she finally brought it back my date had finished her meal and I was thoroughly disgusted. How hard is it to fry 2 chimichangas and serve them? Did the cook know what a chimichanga was? They placed my tortillas on a grill and crispened them and brought them back. Again, I was asked what I thought and I said I was disappointed. No manager or owner came over, nothing. I ate one. The waitress came back and asked if I wanted to take it home, I said yes. She handed me a box and walked away. This is a deplorable experience, simply pathetic! What is she being tipped for??? It came out wrong at least twice and nothing was said or done, NOTHING! Folks dont waste your time or money here, the food stinks, the waitress Anna is pathetic and management obviously doesnt give a damn either. Carmelitas in Dunedin is 1000% better!

Went to Poblanos tonight for $1 taco night. Ordered 14 tacos and had 3 left over. Asked for a box and the waitress told me that I had to pay full price for the ones I was taking home. I explained that I had been coming to Poblanos for years and that anytime I couldnt finish a taco or two that no one had ever charged me full price for them. She asked if I wanted to speak to a manager and I told her no...not a big deal it was just something I had never had happen. Within minutes some Hispanic waitress came over and said "You had a question about the tacos?" I told her that I didnt but if she was a manager Id like to clarify something. She then told me that she was a manager. I explained the entire situation..then she pointed at a table tent that had the specials listed on it and that said "*specials are for dine in only." I explained to her that I was dining in and then she continued to try and argue the point saying that I was getting a taco to go. I then stated that I didnt order the taco to go and asked if someone comes in on the Fajita special night and doesnt finish their Fajitas, would they get charged the full price if they took their leftovers home. Her answer was, "yes thats our policy." Which you know is load of junk. Seriously, it was obvious that from the moment she came to the table she had no intention of trying to make me happy and only to be very rude. Hey Poblanos! Change your specials exception to ***Excluded for To Go and if you dont finish 100% of your order when dining in. My wife and I have dined here for years and will never be back. Los Mayas in downtown Clearwater is much better by the way.

Weve been going to the Poblanos since it opened quite a few years ago. We can literally walk to it. When it opened, it was a mom and pop type operation, the service a little hit or miss, the surroundings a bit ratty, but you felt comfortable there, and the food was outstanding, fresh and creative. Ignoring the "dirty kitchen" reviews, we went last night after not having been in a few months, to 1/4 filled restaurant. We were seated promptly, but it ended there. No one came to wait on us, we had to keep flagging down someone, and it continued. Let me stress...it was not crowded. We ordered our drinks and food together, since we didnt know when wed see a waitress again and never quite determined who our waitress was. Meals came out promptly, but the food had been sitting and poorly prepared. Sauces were congealed, though all was hot. Tortilla chips were old, the fresh sauce on the Yolandas had soaked into the tortilla, leaving a not so appealing meal, as was my sons enchilada. My husband said his chimmichanga was excellent, to their credit, but the taco salad was a disappointment for my daughter in law who gets this every time she goes, so knows what it should taste like. This place has been better, and its sad to see the food compromised, though drinks were still good. There are just too many great restaurants in this area to go back. Im sorry. I used to love this place with its fun atmosphere and excellent food.

Disappointed and outraged! I and my family have been going to this Poblanos for about 4 years. I took my 2 kids there on September 20th for lunch. A new waitress helped us with our order. I had a combo with a beef tostada and 2 enchiladas. I asked for onions on the enchiladas as I always do. When the food arrived I was surprised to not have any lettuce or tomato so I asked for some. The food was good and all was fine until I received the bill. The waitress had charged me $1.00 apiece for the onions, lettuce and tomatoes without telling me in advance that this would happen. I complained to the waitress who told me that was their policy. She also said the owner was not in the restaurant. She offered for me to speak to the head waitress, a Hispanic girl. At first the head waitress said she would remove the up-charge but then started quoting me the menu and why they did the up-charge. She seemed to be going back on her previous statement so I told her that if she didnt remove the charges I would not be coming back. She then said "since youre not coming back Im not going to remove the charges." She then handed me the bill and walked off. I paid the bill but withheld the tip out of rage. This whole experience was too bad because we were loyal customers that they lost. On the bright side, it turns our Chilis has surprisingly good Mexican food!

I went in and sat at the bar and ordered food to go. I ordered a margarita and ordered two enchaladas and one chile relleno that had rice and beans on the side and there was an order of chips and salsa added. The margarita was okay and the food was mediocre. There was no seasoning. The enchiladas were full of hamburger that had no sauce or anything for that matter. They were wrapped in a corn torilla with a red sauce of some sort with chunks of tomatos. It may have been their sausa as it kind of looked like the same sausa served with the chips. There was very little taste to the meat in the enchiladas. The chile relleno was very greasy and kind of small. I thought it was going to be breaded on the outside, but it was not. I guess it was dunked in a vat of hot grease and served up dripping hot out of the vat. The rice was very dry and there was only a small scoop of beans so I couldnt even mix the beans with the rice because I used them to help moisten up the enchiladas. I dont know maybe it was because it was a to go order. I will go again. The restaurant was neat and clean and was a nice atmosphere. The bartender was nice and professional and curtious. Next time I will eat there and see if it is any better.
