The food might be good, but when they eeduse to give u additional side of guac and sour cream to go with the quesadilla that you have already paid speaks volume on the level of customer care and appreciation. Ive spent a lot of money here and if youve eaten there you know its not cheap.... For them to come and tell me that I would have to buy a huge as thing of guac and sour cream, which again is pricey, for my two corners of of quesadilla. ITS RIDICULOUS. THEY ARE RIDICULOUS and to think that I was the main advocate for my co-workera to spend their money there. NEVER AGAIN. Ill walk down to Mi Casitas before I give them another one of my pennies. DONT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS... THEY DONT APPRECIATE YOU!!!!

I have had a fabulous experience here with my family. We had amazing food served quickly and nicely. The man made guacamole right in front of us so it was fresh and a pleasure to watch. The drinks were great, staff very friendly, and a very nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place and would most definitely go here again if I was in Washington D.C. The food is also very good value for what they bring. So much food for a cheap price! Kids menu is also great! Another wonderfully fabulous thing is the adult menu, which is very large with a massive variety of things to choose from. The most Ive ever had to choose from at a Mexican restaurant. ***GO HERE FOR AMAZING MEXICAN FOOD!!!***

The 4 stars is heavily weighed by the good happy hour. If its not happy hour, then a solid 3. Ive been pleased by the service every time Ive come here. Non happy hour means $8 captain Morgan shots and other drink prices that are similarly ridiculous, even for D.C. standards. If you dont drink alcohol, then you should be more inclined to come here because the food is good. The guacamole that they make fresh in front of you is amazing and worth every penny. Also had the tacos al carbon. Thing to note: their happy hour time changes daily and they write it on their chalkboard out front which is cool because sometimes its 3-6 and sometimes its 7-10.

Dont order the ceviche... Its a veggie tray with a small amount of seafood that lacks flavor. Ive never had a ceviche that required me to crunch carrots and radishes in order to get to the seafood. The waiter noticed my displeasure and to his credit, he asked if everything was ok. I said no, the ceviche is not. Everything else we had was basic Tex-Mex, almost impossible to get wrong. So the entrees were good. 2 bites of the ceviche cost me $13.00. They could have taken it off of the bill. To their credit, I didnt ask them to. I thought they would as a courtesy and create a semi regular customer. So much for that.

Delicious Mexican food, good drinks. Decorations are friendly without being tacky. Go for happy hour to save money, good deals on both drinks and appetizers. Regular dinner prices are a little high for the neighborhood, but the portions are huge and food is delicious. Most dishes served with really tasty rice and beans with ample guacamole, sour cream and salsa. Try one of the burritos, chicken, shredded beef and seafood are all very good. Always leave satisfied. Service is good and manager almost always comes by the table to check on things.

Horrible. The food was meh, margaritas meh, service-horrible. I had bought a groupon for a free appetizer and free pitcher of margarita on the rocks (which is normally $35, but $29 for happy hour). I showed the groupon to the manager, who said he would discount $29 (only covers the pitcher, not the appetizer) & ended only discounting$25 from the bill. The waitress barely spoke any english & didnt understand my order, the manager was rude, confusing & condescending. If youre looking for a pleasant place.....dont come here!!

This was our last option for dinner, but because we were a large group with many differing dietary needs, we ultimately settled on this place. And was it worth it! The food was excellent - our party tried everything from the steaks to the fajitas - and everybody left happy. The staff is generous with the chips and salsa - to the point where we almost had no space for the main course. The staff were excellent and friendly, and the evening was splendid.

Im from Texas and this place sucked the food was cold and pretty flavorless.. Plus I got the fajitas and the portion of meat they gave was sorry for 16$ the only reason Im giving 2 stars is bc my waiter was good, everything else not so much. Edit: Now I got the runs and been throwing up all day Im 100% it was the food not cook properly so now 1 star. Never going there again!

Ate here for the first time the other day and was really impressed with the good. Decent prices, about 12-14 for most entrees. Comfortable, better food than Haydees over in Mt. Pleasant, which is great too but a little cheaper and faster and greasier. Lots of space in the back, and their helpful staff was great with our two kids who are crazy.

I really really liked this TexMex place in Columbia Heights. Was seated quite quickly and could see there was a lot of local people across all ages enjoying the food and the drinks. Has a happy hour menu with a big selection of stuff. There was a few mistakes with my orders but the Servers all noticed it immediately and rectified them.

Mexican food is my favorite. And I have eaten at just about every place here locally. El Tio is hands down the best Mexican food Ive had in the D.C. area. I order out from the Falls Church location every Friday night. Its something I look forward to after a long work week. Its sofa king great!!!

Menu is over priced for the quantity they serve and the alcoholic drinks you order are basically juice. Not to mention we had to wait 30min for waters after we sat down which should be the first thing that should be served. Not worth spending close to $200 for a dinner four 3 adults and 3 kids.

El Tio has some of the best Tex-Mex food around! The fajitas are among my favorite. Their staff is friendly, courteous, and welcoming. The restaurant is clean and has a good atmosphere. Great place to bring family or friends!

I had a Groupon for 2 bottomless mimosas and brunch. The food was good. Our server was excellent. We didnt want to drink alcohol and ask if we could swap out mimosas for ice tea and were told no by the manager. Shocking!

Awesome venue with great Sunday brunch offerings. With great prices and bottomless drinks what else do you want? Would recommend for anyone looking to try some solid Tex-Mex food or looking to cure a hangover.

This is a nice place if youre craving mediocre Mexican food or youre in the mood for margaritas. Their happy hour specials are ok. The staff is friendly so thats a plus.
