I tend to be really stingy with my 5 star ratings, but here one is. Honestly, I debated between 4 and 5, but I happily rounded up because of the reasonable price. This was just a GREAT meal. We ate here on a Sunday night when everything was quiet and serene. We were seated outside, and warm, fresh chips were brought to us with some nice tomato-y salsa. The chips and salsa were free and delicious; Ill admit that we asked for a second order! This is a big one for me as I feel that too often the free tortilla chips at Mexican restaurants are stale or just bad. These were really nice. For the main, I got two taco orders (each order came with two small tacos: steak with kimchi, baja fish) and MM MM MMed my way right through them. The tacos were small but the fillings were delicious and portioned generously. I truly loved every nite. My husband, meanwhile, still somehow managed to make me jealous with his chicken entree. It was absolutely outstanding, and I asked for multiple tastes and then each time said, "What is that flavor? How did they do that?!" We didnt get drinks or dessert, and so cant speak to that, but between the awesome food, the fine price (we were out for about $45, including tax and tip), and the nice location, I have no doubt that well be back.

Pretty standard Mex/Tex-Mex fare -- nothing bad, nothing superb. Service does tend to be a little hit-or-miss (tending to the slow/miss side), but its generally pleasant and responsive enough. Sit outside for Happy Hour (1530-1900), enjoy a $6 margarita or peach adult smoothie, some delicious chips and salsa (surprisingly good!), enjoy the breeze coming off the water, and people watch. One minor quibble from our last visit: apparently the happy hour tacos cant be mixed and matched (except on Monday?) or so we were told by our server. Its not a huge deal, but also is kinda weird -- also, we couldnt find that info printed on the menu (it says "Choose any two for $5"). Again, not a huge deal, just a bit of a headscratcher.

The place looks cool. I ordered the lomillo salteado and loved it!! My wife ordered the cubano sandwich and was very disappointed. The pork tasted like it was boiled in water and had pieces of bay leaf inside!!! I dont know if the chef knows that those leafs are not edible. My dad ordered the hamburger and he didnt realize that it came with refritos, he told the waitress of the mistake he made and she said ok. She didnt even make an effort to please him. He paid for the food and not touch it. And to top it up there where some fries that came with my wife sandwich that had this hot sauce that nobody knew that my 3 year old toddler took and was screaming in pain with the hot sauce.

Service is painfully slow (we waited 20 minutes just to get water, chips, and salsa), and the food is not good enough to justify the price. The margaritas are the only good thing about this place. EDIT: I came back today and I am still disappointed. It took eight minutes for the server to get to us after we sat down (which is much better than the last few times), and when it came time for the check, our server was MIA. The manager eventually took our check for us, but we didnt get it back for about 12 minutes. My friend and I started timing things because its takes that long and its that annoying. Probably not coming back again for a long time.

My wife is on the hunt for good Mexican food in the DC area (why isnt there good Mexican food in DC?!). With that in mind, we make it a point to go to every new Mexican restaurant that opens up and were pumped to find Agua 301 so close to our house and in one of the most up and coming neighborhoods in DC- Navy Yard. The chips and salsa were good so we had high expectations for the food. We ordered the carne asada kimchi taco platter and loved it! It comes with two small tacos and a small bowl of rice and another bowl of beans. It tasted great, but it definitely does not fill you up so make sure you order a lot of chips and salsa.

Unlike the other reviews, when my family and I went there, the service from the staff was superb and they were very friendly and upbeat.. The place looked fantastic and the location was great..... HOWEVER, the food was rather tasteless, the chicken breast tough, the seafood soup seemed to have each marine species and everything else in it but flavor, and sadly , the Paella tasted like it was left over from last week, frozen, microwaved and then served just after someone accidentally knocked a glass of tepid water over it... The 2 stars are a courtesy to the great staff.. .had they been horrid I would probably had given 1 star ..

We went to Aqua301 on a Sunday night and the place was packed. After a little wait time, we were seated in the back of the restaurant near the window..it was a nice view but a little chilly. The complimentary chips and salsa were superb but the service SUCKED. It took our waiter 30 minutes to come to the table after we put in our drink orders. My wife got the enchiladas vegetarianos and they were flavorful and portion was huge (I got ceviche it was a nice balance of tang and spice), but it took us another 1 hour to get refills on chips and water. 5/5 stars for food. 0/5 stars for service.

This place has awesome fish tacos (and they will grill them for you if you request it - they are offered fried on the menu). The staff is great, especially the bar staff, they are a lot of fun for happy hours or pre-gaming on game days. The outdoor seating is perfect for nice weather and the happy hour cocktail and beer specials are pretty decent. My only complaint is the salsa cups are waaaay too small, but the chips and salsa are really good! Theyll bring you more salsa if you ask, but everytime we go, we have to ask and ask and ask! I wish theyd just provide a larger dish!

You can check my reviews, Im no negative nancy. But the service was unbearable. A server came over and interrupted us legitimately every 5 minutes. Typically it was our actual server but even the busboys too. Ive never experienced anything like it. It almost felt like a prank. We asked for our check, and then the server came back and asked if everything was good twice more. Without the check. I dont even know. The food was really good. Tacos, empenandas, etc. But theres plenty of good food in DC. Go somewhere else.

As a SW resident, Im so glad that all these new restaurants at Navy Yard are finally open. I had dinner outside at Agua 301 when my parents visited from out of town. The guacamole was great and all three of us enjoyed our tacos (fish, chicken, and carnitas.) Service was a little slow (especially since the restaurant wasnt too crowded) and it was pretty buggy (since the restaurant is so close to the water), but those things didnt detract from our good experience. Would definitely go back!

My Hongos (mushroom tacos) were plain and the potion was small, especially for the price. The guacamole I ordered for the table was the only thing that saved them. The blood orange Margarita was great but it took forever to get it. We were there on a Friday night and service was sloooow and the place was LOUD. The drink list is longer than the food menu, with a whole page dedicated to (expensive) Tequila. So Id go back for drinks but not for a meal.
